Chapter 89- Strong Enough
Third Person
As KrakenKid walked through the tunnels, sounds of destruction ahead and fading voices behind him, he remembered the dream well.
It had been ages ago but it haunted him for so long that every single bit replayed in his mind. A prophetic dream of Tanith being full of destructive, purple energy, and attacking him. Or at least, that's how the dream ended, right as she shot that destructive beam at him.
He should've been scared, but something inside of him just... Wasn't.
KrakenKid thought about Tanith, who she was to him and everything they had gone through, and he wasn't scared. Not like he was before. Before, he was scared of getting hurt by her, the scene in his own personal hell was right after all, it hurt much more to be betrayed by someone you thought you could trust. Now? KrakenKid wasn't scared of that at all. He was scared of losing her. Because out of everything, Tanith decided the one thing she needed to do if she died was kiss him. And that bit of doubt that still lingered inside of him after all that time was gone in a flash.
He was still in shock that something like that happened at all. Felt like something straight out of one of Cannibal's rom-coms, though KrakenKid found that wasn't a bad thing. He wasn't even sure it was real until now and it dawned on him all at once.
Now, he couldn't lose her now. He had a lot to say and hadn't had the chance to say it yet. He wasn't going to let her go.
He wasn't surprised by the clearing he stumbled upon eventually. Jaggid walls and nothing but Tanith with a unnatural, purple glow around her. Her voice matches the same as a hostile animal as the power escapes her, breaking a boulder in half and putting her hands on her face.
"Hey, T." KrakenKid greets her like they're bumping into each other while walking down the street. Tanith whips around to face him but he doesn't flinch. He's seen this nightmare enough times to not be phased by it. "Let's calm down, hm? Not looking so great." He knows it's useless to say it but he does anyways. He doesn't have to think twice when he dodges as she lunges at him.
All efforts of attacks are useless as KrakenKid knows every step she takes for a time. Tanith ends up out of breath and KrakenKid is still standing, patient. It isn't long until she tries attacking him with the strand of purple magic. KrakenKid knows this is where the dream always ended and gets ready to move.
But, he doesn't have to in the end. Instead, halfway to him, it dissipates into the air. Tanith groans to herself, holding her head like she's got a mirage. Kraken's mood suddenly switches from focused to concern.
"Tan-!" He doesn't even get to finish before there's a bright flash of light coming from Tanith's head and she falls. KrakenKid bolts and manages to stop her head from bashing into the ground by catching it and slowly lowering her to the ground.
Then there's another flash of light and KrakenKid is gone too.
And he wakes up somewhere else instead. He stares as he sees what looks like two Tanith's talking in hurried tones. However, seeing as only one has a tail, KrakenKid has a guess of what's going on.
He quickly walks over and picks up on the conversation.
"Can't you get rid of it?"
"I would but last time that took weeks! Listen, it's your body, you have more control than me. Just get it over with. Besides, you have company."
Tanith blinks at Cece's comment and turns to meet KrakenKid's gaze. Her eyes widen and she turns back to Cece, who gives her a little nod. "What? So I let him in, he'll be fine. If he somehow gets hurt or dies here in your mind, which let me remind you it's your mind so most of the things attacking will go after you, he'll just wake up later and be perfectly fine, as will you. It's literally all in your head. Stop making up excuses."
Tanith looks like she wants to argue something but she glances back at KrakenKid and goes silent. It's like she can't bring herself to admit it, something KrakenKid knows well, but he decides not to say anything. If there's anything he knows, it's that there are somethings that take time to say.
"Yeah, that's what I thought." Cece flashes a grin before turning to KrakenKid. "Okay, I'm going to break it down for you, nice and simple, you got it?" He gives a nod. "Good. Here's the deal: When Tanith uses her little calming spell, she has to take in the emotions of everyone within the radius that she does it, which is usually around a mile, and then get rid of said emotions because physically dealing with emotions that aren't yours can be draining and take a toll on your mind. There's a reason why we don't use it that often, and what you just witnessed was one of them." Cece then shakes her head. "Scratch that, that's the main reason."
Taking in a long breath, she starts up again. "That being said, a mix of all of the battle ready emotions and fears of being killed in said battle, mixing with whatever the absolute hell is going on in Ace's head, kinda was too much for the both of us and Tanith resorted to a raging mode, which was the main emotion she couldn't get rid of. Luckily, I was able to shut her entire body down and make her sleep so that she can get in here properly and clear out her head, and then she as the audacity to ask me why I can't just do it myself!" Her voice steadily rises until Cece is close to screaming. Tanith just gives a little huff at her.
"It was a simple question, what is up with you today?" Tanith mumbles under her breath.
"I AM IN YOUR MIND, I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SAYING!" Cece doesn't hold back this time, screaming from the top of her lungs. "And oh, EXCUSE ME, let the Spero Spirits forbid that MAYBE I am TIRED after everything I've had to do! Let me remind you that you're a selective empath, meaning I am not nearly as powerful as what areal ones can do, so getting other people into minds that we haven't formed a proper bond with, not to mention keeping your screwed up mind in check after a never ending nightmare hit this mind like a raging Odium Spirit, and as the CHERRY ON TOP of it all, shutting down your body after you lost control, which is something I really shouldn't be doing given how physically exhausted I am, BUT NO, LET'S WORK YOUR ALTER EGO TO THE BONE, WHY DON'T WE?"
A long silence passed before KrakenKid decided to open his mouth. "Thank you for your help, Cece."
The conscious paused, staring at him with her green eyes before she started laughing quietly to herself. "You picked a good one this time, Tanith. Finally, a little recognition of all the utter bullcrap I have to put up with all the time."
The kraken flashed a smile at her before resuming. "Okay, so, what do you two need me to do?"
Tanith opens her mouth but Cece shushes her. "I got this. So, you need to- Tanith, I can hear what you're thinking, knock that off! You would not believe the mouth she has sometimes- not the point, but Tanith needs to get rid of all this rage and hatred that has taken nest in here. Shouldn't be too hard to find given it'll most likely find you than anything, but fair warning, it's going to try and screw with you because it doesn't want to leave so, good luck with that. KK, I'm going to need you to make sure she actually gets rid of it and basically be her Emotional Support Kraken for the time being. Sound alright with you? Because I can return you to your own mind if need be."
"I've been through hell, I'm fine with helping someone through it." KrakenKid nods in response.
"Then you two are all set." With a snap of a finger, the blank void that the three of them were standing in suddenly has a door brimming with light. "Best be on your way. Good luck, you just might need it."
Tanith, who had been standing there, quiet the whole time, finally decides to clear her throat and turn to the Tide Changer. "You're really okay with this?" She says uncertainty, her look not changing even when he nods confidently. "If you say so. You can back out at any-!"
KrakenKid rolls his eyes playfully before making his way to the door. Tanith is quick to catch up, sucking in a long breath. "Guess it's decided then. No use prolonging it." Her hand grabs the door handle and when she hesitates, KrakenKid grabs it too, and together they open it.
As soon as they step out, they're greeted with the inside of tent. It's fairly big and the tarp is white, with a few lanterns lighting up the inside. There's rows and rows of tables and beds, so much so that it's crammed and KrakenKid has to turn on his side just to move through the maze of it. There's a few sleeping figures on them, with blurred faces that he can't see, but he can't help but notice that Tanith is staring at the entrance of the tent like her life depends on it.
The kraken blinks before waving his tentacle in front of her face to snap her out of it, and get her looking at him with wide eyes. "I know what this is." Tanith said immediately. Her eyes trail past him, and when he follows her gaze, he sees a small handgun laying on one of the empty tables. "I don't want to do it again." Her voice is small.
In a split second, a figure with a helmet that obscures their face bursts in, gun at the ready and aims to shoot while both are frozen in place. They're short and skinny but it doesn't make the fact that they have a gun any less threatening. They're wearing blue camouflage clothes and have a symbol of a sharp pair of teeth patched onto the suit. Then, the form wavers and it's gone. Now Kraken can't stop staring at the door, blinking and wondering what just happened, when it happens again. In the exact same way, the figure comes in again, then pauses, and is gone like they were never there before.
"Are we supposed to complete some sort of loop?" The Tide Changer wonders, looking to the medic for guidance.
"I think so." Tanith nods towards the gun again. "It's a memory, one that I'd really rather forget... The first time I ever had to kill somebody. They burst into the tent with a gun and I saw the symbol the enemy and I didn't think twice."
KrakenKid frowned. "I don't see the problem. You were defending yourself, not to mention your patients. Besides, if we have to complete the memory," KrakenKid scooted over to where the handgun was being kept and when the soldier burst in again, he shot. The bullet passed right through them and the memory reset. His frowned deeped. "What... Why didn't that work?"
The snake medic looked between KrakenKid and the gun before realizing. "I think it's because it's my memory. My head. I can't have someone else get rid of something in my head, I have to do it myself."
The Tide Changer hesitated before holding the gun out to her. "At least you're not alone. C'mon, you can't blame yourself for something that already happened, what's the point?"
"The point is that I took someone's life and now nobody knows what their future could've held!" Tanith's voice wavered. "Their name was Jamie Havy and they were barely sixteen! It wasn't even their fault, they didn't want to be in this war! They were drafted and their commanding officer said to take no prisoners and show no mercy! Every single one of those soldiers knew it was wrong but they were all so scared! I've killed so many people, over a hundred names now written on stone, and I ended all of their futures right then and there! How is that fair?"
"It's not!" KrakenKid argued back. His eyes narrow but they keep steady nonetheless. "Life is never fair and it never will be! They might've been drafted but none of that was your fault. You were protecting people- securing a future for several instead of just one. Believe me, I know what it's like to take someone's life, but sometimes, it's the only option you have. One life versus another."
Tanith was still. It took a few beats but eventually, she took the gun he was holding out and aimed it at the entrance. "I'm sorry it had to be this way." He murmured.
"It's not your fault." Tanith told him, then pulled the trigger.
As soon as it hit the soldier, the whole scene exploded into darkness, ripping it all apart until it was nothing but an empty field. Both breathed a sigh in relief. "I don't think that's it. Follow me." Tanith told him, then started to move forward. The kraken quickly glanced around before following.
Soon enough, they were pushing through the trees of a thick forest when Tanith stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of another figure. This time, it was much clearer than the last.
It was a woman, there was no doubt in KrakenKid's mind that she was. She had long, blue hair that shimmered like water and dark eyes. Her whole figure was feminine and she wore a dress like she was trying to make it obvious. She wasn't facing them at first but soon enough, she turned around and flashed a smile at Tanith.
"Tanny, how lovely it is to see you again." She held her hand out. "Come back with me. Don't worry, I'm not mad. Just come with me and we'll forget you ever left, hm?"
To Kraken's surprise, Tanith, who was still holding the gun from before, insteadly cocked it and pointed it right at her. KrakenKid jumped, backing up when he saw it, but then started waiting for a shot that never came. Tanith just stared at the woman, her breath shaking until she gulped and readjusted her grip on the gun. She still didn't dare fire.
"Uh... T? Mind filling me in on what's going on here?"
The woman laughed and looked right at KrakenKid. He had no idea why, but there was something about her that made his blood run cold. She had no weapons nor was making a threat of any kind, but every bone in his body wanted to react like she was holding a knife to his throat. Her eyes seemed to darken. "Has she never told you about me? I'm so very hurt. We were bonded once. She was my right hand woman, my everything. I told her how much I loved her, but she had trouble saying it back. And then, after everything we went through, she ran away. But it's okay, Tanny. I'm not mad anymore. Remember how happy we were? It's okay that you ruined it all, we can rebuild it again. We can be so very happy. Wouldn't you like that? Don't you want me to be happy?"
"Stop talking..." Tanith breathed. Glancing over at her, KrakenKid noticed her hands now trembled. "Nerida, you know exactly what happened, can you blame me?"
"Tanith?" KrakenKid tried again. He didn't even realize it but he was keeping his voice steady and holding his hands up in a calming gesture. It was like second nature. "Did she hurt you?"
"Not physically." Tanith answered after a moment. She took in a breath, gulping before she spoke. "I wasn't always on the right side of a war. I could say that about most battles given there's always two sides but... But this one I was on the total wrong side. Our leader was her, Nerida, and she told all of us the same thing,"
Like she was a broken record, Nerida began to speak. "I am fighting for a new world. My city has fallen into chaos due to gang wars, poverty and political issues tearing everyone apart. Please, won't you fight with me so that I can make this city better? I have seen mothers on the streets trying to care for their hungry children and fathers being wrongfully accused for gang crimes and taken to prison. I cannot stand for this any longer, but I can't stand alone."
Tanith nodded, grimacing. "And the worst part was, she wasn't all wrong. That was what was happening before, but she just made it all worse. She ruthlessly killed all authority she got her hands on, forced others to fight with her and eliminated anyone who got in her way. If anything, she created more problems for the people she was claiming to help. And during all of this, she knew exactly what she was doing. She didn't care. She couldn't care!"
"And like a fool, I believed her! She had this trick of being able to bring people over to her side by giving them something difficult to resist, or something to distract them. I was interested in her, so she told me that she loved me. And then I felt like I had an obligation to force myself to love her back but it never worked. I didn't understand why I couldn't fall for her until much later."
Tanith pointed the gun accusingly at her, eyes narrowing. "It took me so long to figure it out but then I realized it several months after I bonded with her: She felt no emotions. Ever. I didn't even realize I had properly bonded with her until Cece told me and it all came crashing down. I didn't realize it, but there was always something so fake about her that I subconsciously noticed but didn't pay attention with her. She had no real drive other than to do what she wanted, even if she felt no joy. I fall for people with passion, and I could never fell that way about someone with none at all."
"And then you dug deeper and found out she was lying." KrakenKid guessed, getting a nod. "So she used you."
"Yeah." Tanith gulped again, feeling her mouth getting dry. "And instead of staying around to stop her I just... I just gave all the information needed to the rebels we were fighting and I ran. I didn't stick around to stop her."
"You have to put on your own oxygen mask first." The Tide Changer said simply. "And that's okay. You don't need to feel guilty about something that was out of your control."
"But it was." Nerida shrugged her shoulders. "You trusted me like a fool, and then you ran like one. I could still be out there, you know. Maybe I won, but you never stuck around to-!"
She was cut off by a gunshot. The woman looked down at the shot on the left side of her chest and sighed. "Hm. How about that?"
And like before, she was gone in a pitch of black.
This time, KrakenKid barely got enough time to breathe before the ground beneath both of them gave out and they fell. They landed on hardwood floor of what looked to be some sort of gym, and sure enough, when KrakenKid opened his eyes, there was yet another person. All of them seemed to take the shape of a person, and if this one turned out to be like the others, he was sensing a theme to them.
Tanith groaned as she got up, the handgun now gone from the sudden change, then froze in place yet again from seeing the person. A girl with short, black hair and dark eyes to match. She wore black clothing too, and had a sharp gaze. However, the thing that really caught his eye was the fact that like Tanith, her lower half was part snake. This design, however, was different. It was more black and white striped, though on the very top of the white parts, it had a strange blueish color. Her tail was similar in length to Tanith's, and in her hands was a wooden staff. There was another on the ground nearby them.
"Going to go out on a limb and say you know exactly who this is?" KrakenKid confirmed with her, already knowing he would get the nod he expected. "Okay, explain this situation then."
Tanith bent down and picked up the other staff off the ground. "This would be Emil, my younger sister." KrakenKid had to pause to process it, looking between the two. Given their very different appearances, KrakenKid wouldn't have guessed it. "When we were younger, we used to spar a lot. My mother was pretty into self defense so she had us practice it. Emil was practically a prodigy at it, and soon enough, I couldn't beat her at all, no matter how much I tried. I think the object of this one is pretty clear."
Tanith didn't say anything else before she charged at her sister and the two began. Left and right, Tanith threw everything at her but in the end, she was thrown back and on the ground. Emil seemed to huff. "And match. Can I leave now?"
Tanith gritted her teeth and picked up the staff again, springing into yet another fight. KrakenKid yelled after her but his words fell on deaf ears. The result didn't change, with Tanith joining his side even sooner than last time. He barely got another word in as she tried again. And again. With no differing result. KrakenKid eventually decided to try and help her rather than stop her, but nothing changed.
Emil had barely broken a sweat. Her dark eyes rolled. "Caeruleum, why do you insist on doing this?"
"Just let me beat you! Just once!" Tanith argued with her.
"And what would that prove? It wouldn't change anything, you wouldn't actually have beaten me, you'd just be lying to yourself." Emil sighed, a bored expression on her face. "Just give it up. There's no point in getting a fake win."
Tanith opened her mouth to retaliate when KrakenKid blinked in surprise. "She's right."
Tanith's head whipped around to meet his eyes in pure bewilderment. "Wha- KK, we're supposed to beat this illusion, not agree with it!"
"Yeah, and what if the key to beating this one isn't to win? When was the last time you sparred with Emil anyways?" His eyebrows raised.
Tanith's mouth opened and closed. "That's what I thought. You said it was back in your childhood, so how long have you been holding onto that? And for what? I might be hypocritical for saying this but maybe you should just let this one go. It's not like when you made mistakes in the past, it's just something that doesn't even matter anymore."
Tanith looked between the kraken, the staff, and then the illusion of her sister. Her grip loosened until she dropped the weapon with a sigh. "You can go." She told Emil when she looked up again after staring at the ground.
Emil seemed to nod slowly at her. "Mm. Maybe we can rest at last. Until we meet again, Caeruleum."
Her form broke and the room soon followed after her. When the walls fell down, they were instead in the middle of a battlefield and face to face with an almost identical, raging, purple Tanith as KrakenKid had seen before.
Around them was pure chaos, with everything being ripped apart and people running in all directions, but none getting within twenty feet of her. She growled and started to advance forward, laying out a siege of destruction in her path.
Tanith paled. "KK, maybe you should sit this one out. I don't like to-!"
"This sort of thing has happened before, hasn't it?" He asked without much of a second thought. Tanith didn't respond, so the Tide Change pressed on. "Is that why you're so careful with your calming power? Because you're afraid of what's happened in the past?"
Tanith seemed to squirm at his words but nodded slightly. He looked back and forth between the two, an idea forming in his mind. "Tell me about it."
"Wha- what?" Tanith fumbled with her own words, her tail starting to make her backup without her thinking twice about it. "I- uh- really don't like to talk about it. Kinda one of my more lower moments."
"Tanith, I know a thing or two about not wanting to say anything out of shame or regret, so believe me when I say, I would not be asking this if I didn't think it would get us out of this." He gestured towards the other her. "I think the way to beat this one is for you to talk about it."
The medic gulped loudly. "What if I'm supposed to face her in battle? Get rid of her? How do you know it's that?"
"I have a feeling." KrakenKid stated simply. "A lot of these seem to have a pattern and if I have the pattern right, then I think I know what to do." Tanith looked away for a moment but he brought his attention back to himself with another mention of her name. "Trust me?"
And she did. It took her a moment to get started but soon enough, she couldn't stop herself from talking. It became clear to KrakenKid that she was telling a war story of her own. She kept going and going until she felt like she was going to burst but she never stopped. She told the story she never liked to tell anyone, and by the end of it, KrakenKid was still there. He wasn't looking at her weirdly or uncomfortable or anything. And it occurred to Tanith that of course he would understand, because after all, he was fighting his own war.
Tanith didn't even realize it but as she told it, everything fell apart, until now, nothing was left and they fell.
She decided right then and there that while she might've finally gotten that story off her chest, it wasn't one she wanted to relive again. After all, some war stories, are better left alone.
For a moment as they fell, there was pure static. White noise ringing in both their ears and everything buzzing with black and white flashes. There were voices, but neither could make out what they were saying due to all of them talking at once. They eventually reached the bottom where all of it suddenly stopped. KrakenKid looked to Tanith for answers, but found she was just as confused as he was.
"I'm not sure what that was, I-!" Tanith started to say, then saw something over his shoulder that made her glare. The kraken whipped around to see an another Tanith. He double checked to make sure it wasn't just Cece but sure enough, she had the tail, eyes and everything.
Other Tanith snarled at the two of them, and Tanith pushed past KrakenKid, taking a protective stance. Other Tanith lunged at the both of them, and Tanith didn't think twice about returning it, causing both of them to clash.
Tanith started to hit, scratch, pull and do anything to gain an upper hand in the match. The two engaged in a scuffle, one that neither seemed to be winning until Tanith socked the other one in the eye and started to rabidly attack her.
But KrakenKid started to notice that nothing was changing. Tanith winning wasn't making any changes. Thinking back to everything he had said, his heart stopped when he realized not only he unlocked what the pattern was, but that Tanith wasn't going to win that way. He quickly took a step forward and caught her wrist when she pulled back for another punch.
"Tanith, stop it!" He yelled, causing her to freeze. "This isn't working!"
"It's got to! What else am I supposed to do? Besides, maybe it is and I just need to knock her out to steal the deal." Tanith's eyes remained narrowed, glancing down at Other Tanith.
It took KrakenKid a moment to find the right words. "Tanith, don't you get it? Everything we've seen has had some sort of pattern: You always need to let something go. Your guilt, regrets, mistakes, grudges, and now you need to let go of beating yourself up. It's not going to solve anything. Not when it's not your fault."
"But it's not just then, it's now too!" Tanith groaned, her arms going limp. KrakenKid released her wrist and let it drop to the ground, before being used to wipe her misty eyes. "I'm not enough, I can't keep up with any of you! You're all so strong and so much better at combat and- and I know I've been getting better but it just always feels like I can't do as much as you guys. I just..." Tanith sniffed. "I just want to prove I'm strong."
KrakenKid bent down to her level and gave her a look. "Why would you need to do that? You've shown all of us you're strong plenty of times. You've been fighting in a war way longer than any of us, and even now, you still are." He gestured around her mind. "All of this? You're fighting to get better basically every day. You haven't healed yet but you've been fighting to. And we've all seen that. You can help us with our burdens but you can't add them to your own. That's not your responsibility."
"But-!"
"Tanith." KrakenKid said softly. "You're strong enough. Anyone can see it."
A moment passed before she pulled him into a bear hug, squeezing tightly. He felt a few tears drop on his shoulder but he didn't mind. He let her cry it out before she whispered. "Thank you, KK."
"You can always ask for help if you need it." He whispered back. He felt her nod before they pulled away and she faced the Other Tanith.
She paused for a moment, wincing at the black eye she had given the alternate form, but offered her a hand when she stood up. The Other Tanith smiled and took it before she faded into Tanith herself.
And everything started to break around them.
--------
Both woke up with a jolt, then Tanith let out a low groan. "Everything hurts..." She mumbled. "I don't think I mentioned it but this happened last time too. My body just really doesn't respond well to destructive magic."
KrakenKid stifled a laugh as he got up. "Good to have you back though."
Tanith smiled and nodded, stretching out her body before resting. Her eyes looked up at him. "Should we catch up with the others?"
"Not yet, I need to talk to you first." The Tide Changer responded, then sat back down in front of her. Tanith blinked but nodded, going with it. "It's about the kiss."
Tanith's face turned red for a moment. "Oh, sorry if that was out of the blue but I uh..." She trailed off.
KrakenKid shook his head. "Don't apologize, just listen. I've had feelings for you for a long time, if I'm going to be completely honest." Her eyes brightened. "But, since I haven't really been able to let Ena, Blooper's Mom, go, I didn't really know how to deal with them. I've been scared to even consider dating since she left and, well, I just haven't at all."
Tanith started to frown again but KrakenKid shook his head, clearing his throat. "Not done. But as of lately, but been thinking about it and I just... Ena's never coming back. I've held onto some delusion all this time that the report was wrong and she's not KIA but... I just don't think I can keep hold onto that. It's making me unhappy. And after you kissed me, I felt things I haven't felt in a long time. I haven't kissed someone in so long that doing it again was just..." He shook his head, smiling. "Bottom line is, I want to start dating again. And if you wouldn't mind, I'd like that someone to be you."
Tanith's face erupted into one of pure joy. "Yes!" She shrieked, laughing and pulling him in for a kiss. KrakenKid's heart fluttered again as their lips met and he wrapped his arms around her.
They stayed like that for a moment before breaking away, both sharing the same look. They took awhile to catch their breath before KrakenKid stood up, offering a hand. "Let's go find the others."
Tanith smiled and took it, then groaned again about her muscles still aching and KrakenKid put her arm around his shoulder to help her walk. Together, the two of them made their way out of there.
************************************************
Man I really need to get back on a schedule. Hoping to do that this year, we'll see how it goes.
Here's Strong Enough finally! Been really busy in December for a crapload of reasons I'm not going to bore you with so let's just talk about the chapter!
Notes, as per usual:
-Decided to focus this chapter on Tanith's flaws, especially her main one of not letting things go. The chapter can also be seen as a giant analogy of dealing with issues, both big and small. Having support through them can help a whole lot more, but in the end, you have to make the choice to change for the better, others can't do it for you. Tanith ain't so great at taking her own advice.
-Supportive KrakenKid is Supportive. Helps that he's got that Dad side to him, and also the leader side to him that makes sure that people actually follow through with it.
-Little snippets of Tanith's time in war, and a lil jab at what her childhood was like. I know it's not much but it's something at the very least, huh?
-Cece is the true MVP. She's also very tired and really needs a break.
-If I didn't pretty much make Kanith cannon in this book last chapter, I sealed the deal here. *Throws Confetti* Ta daaaaaaaaa!
Anddddd that's what I've got for this! I really hope you liked it, I did my best to make it good so hopefully that shows? Comments are highly encouraged as I love them very much and they really make it all worth it, and thank you for reading this far. Almost done, just got the last chapter, and the Epilogue. Been a wild ride.
