Chapter 75- 2 V 2
Third Person
Sam tried to call out to Cody, but her mouth only coughed up the same strange liquid she was immersed in moments before. It took her a moment to get it all out but eventually, her head raised and she finally got another look at her surroundings, a little less panicked at that she was being watched this time.
She searched for a moment, but when nothing seemed to catch her eyes, her gaze dropped. It was only then that she laid eyes on the lock.
A strange design to put a lock on a tube, but she was fortunate it was there. Her hands reeled back to her hair and felt around the braid until she finally hit the metal pin she needed and pulled it out as quickly as she could. Though her braid frizzled a little when she did, getting out was more important that that.
While a hairpin might not always be the best instrument to use to lock pick something, Sam had years of practice. Selena learned way before her, and she kept stealing Sam's favorite pieces of clothing, then locked them in a chest, fully knowing she couldn't get into it. Sam finally learned when Selena took her favorite dress that was planning on wearing out with Cody, and she needed it so she sat herself down and learning everything she could before the lock finally popped open.
After that, the locks got more and more complicated, and with the lockpicks all hidden, Sam had to make do with everything she could get her hands on. Forks was her hardest challenge, but she managed then, she certainly could now.
After a little work, the glass door cracked open, allowing Sam to push it open and finally breathe in relief. Though she wasn't fully claustrophobic, she didn't feel very comfortable in tight spaces. Made her feel too confined, one reason why she lived in the vast and wide tunnels her and her sister created. Not to mention experiencing what it felt like to drown wasn't something she wanted to repeat.
For longer than she would ever tell a soul, she let herself just breathe and try and relax before finally turning towards the tube next to hers: Tanith's. Tanith was still out like a light, but alive at least. That was good enough.
Sam quickly began to work on her lock as well before that too, was opened in seconds. Tanith began to fall and Sam nearly didn't prepare herself to catch her in time, but still did nonetheless, even if she did stumble back when her body hit her arms.
Though Tanith was heavier than she thought- Sam blamed the tail- her eyes fluttered open and she started to register what happened. Tanith stood up straight, no longer needing the mermaid for support and began to look around, fully recovering, or at least as much as she could as quickly as she could, and turned her attention towards Sam. Her mouth hung open for a while before she actually said anything.
"Where's-"
Sam beat her to it. "Both gone. They gave in."
Tanith sighed, looking away and muttering something Sam didn't understand under her breath. "Wouldn't you?" Sam cocked an eyebrow in questioning, though she had a good idea of what the answer would be.
"Of course." Tanith answered, turning her attention towards Sam once again, blue meeting green. "Everyone has a weakness, and I think it's very obvious mine is people. Atlantis could be destroyed, but as long as the people who made it home were safe, I think I'd be okay with it. Cody on the other hand... He has a duty to protect it, and KrakenKid, as much as he has a dislike for some of the people in it, that'd be a tough choice for him too. But to me, this city is just stone and wool. It's only the people who bring it to life."
Sam held her gaze for a long time before interest danced in her eyes. "Hm." She hummed. "What's my weakness?"
Tanith looked her up and down before letting out a long puff of air. "You're harder to read." She admitted. "And I'm not bonded to you so I can't tell. My best guess would be Selena, Cody too."
Sam nodded in approval but couldn't help the smirk that naturally formed on her face. She always did like being unpredictable. It let her surprise people, one of her favorite things to do; gave her a sense of security knowing she wouldn't be so easily manipulated; and it interested people. People like Cody couldn't stay away for long, and she liked it that way.
Her gazes wandered until it hit the desk like machine with a computer attached to it. She waltzed over to it and began to type quickly, accessing it before Tanith could even get over and commenced the search for information.
Tanith blankly stared at the screen as codes and bits and pieces of information flew by. It took her a moment to ask. "What is all this?"
"Coding, files, pretty much everything we might need." Sam answered. "That barrier is still up and we need to find a way to take it down, as well as anything else that can get us and the other two, out of this mess. It might take a while, even with my speed."
Tanith nodded silently, and though she watched for a moment, eventually she grew bored and strolled off to play with the barrier, testing its limits and capabilities. Sam zoned her out and just focused on what she needed to: Finding anything that could tell her how to get out of here.
*************
"Okay this should move your- wait no it was supposed to be the left arm... Maybe this- no that's the leg, how did I manage to do this? Try walking... Well that's working but apparently moving one limb at a time isn't? How does that make sense?"
Ace's rambling and having various limbs move against his will was slowly making Cody more and more irritated. His anxieties of what exactly Ace wanted from them and their bodies was frightening enough, but all of this stress on him was going to be the death of him.
KrakenKid got it easier, simply slumping against the wall to the right of him since Ace was having trouble enough trying to figure out how to control one of them, and controlling two was going to be a nightmare.
Ace fiddled with his bracelet, making Cody's arms bend and move up and down. "Oh, there it is. Now it makes a little more sense but that still doesn't explain what this does..." He paused before pressing a button that made Cody's muscles tense up. The blue eyes shot up. "Is that... Doing anything or what?"
Cody had nothing to give but a cold glare. "I hate this."
Ace's eyes narrowed and he scoffed. "Yeah well, you're no picnic either. All doom and gloom with you." He murmured but clearly said it loud enough for both of them to hear.
Cody gritted his teeth. Picking a fight with a guy who could probably kill him in seconds flat and controlled his body wasn't a good thing to do. So he would keep his mouth shut. Do not say a word. None at all. Definitely not going to.
"So what would happen if I just hold down this button-"
"CAN YOU STOP PLAYING WITH ME LIKE I'M A PUPPET FOR FIVE SECONDS SO I CAN BREATH?" Cody screamed as his muscles tensed up.
Ace jumped, taking his hand off the button and allowing Cody's muscle to relax once again. He paused for a while before he rapidly started to tap with his controller. Cody expected to move, but instead, KrakenKid did, getting up and walking towards him. His right arm raised and slapped him in the face before he could so much as blink.
Ace snorted, pleased with himself while KrakenKid had a smug look on his face. "Do that again!" KrakenKid urged him.
"With pleasure." Ace repeated the typing and another slap came from Krakenkid.
They both started to giggle while Cody glared at both of them. A long and deep sigh escaped the penguin. "Children..."
KrakenKid took a breath to calm himself but still wore the same smile. "What do you expect? The word 'Kid' is in my name."
"And I was only physically born less than a week ago." Ace added, shrugging his shoulders, but got a surprised look for the penguin and kraken.
Cody chose his words carefully, in no mood to get slapped again. "About that... How?" He mentally scolded himself for his language but then again, how do you ask that question? Hey pal, where'd you get that body? Was that always there or what? Where can I get one for my dead brother?
...That last question was too real, I'm done.
"Isn't it obvious?" Cody wasn't expecting that to come from KrakenKid of all people. After a blank stare, the Tide Changer shrugged. "Magic."
"I... Not everything is magic." Cody pointed out.
"In this case, it is. He's right." Ace coughed awkwardly before turning his attention back to the bracelet and mumbling softly to himself.
As Cody reevaluated everything he knew, putting in the possibility that maybe everything was magic, he shook himself. He had the opportunity to ask Ace anything, given Ace could kill him for any wrong question, but the point still stood. He coughed, but Ace didn't seem to get the message. After around five minutes of coughing, he finally commented.
"Are you sick or something? I heard that's a thing that can happen to mortal bodies." Ace said without looking up. Cody visibly rolled his eyes while the kraken just snickered.
"Never mind... What's your plan?"
Ace looked up. "My... What?"
"Your evil plan." The kraken chimed in, grinning a little. "Come on, everyone has one. Even the penguin!"
"Kraken! I'm not evil!"
"You are to the Tide Changers. Perspective, penguin. Learn to use some." KrakenKid chided him, then whipped around to Ace. "So, what's yours? It's the perfect time for an evil monologue. Trust me, I should know."
Cody paused for a long time, giving him a look. Didn't he hate him because of something that happened to Darrel? He was screeching about it before... That's when it hit him on what he was doing. He was getting information through trying to act friendly. Warming up to him just to squeeze some information out of him. Cody silently wondered if he had done that to him before.
Ace continued to stare blankly. "I suppose I do have one but... Why exactly would I tell you? Either of you?"
Cody might've been disappointed it didn't work, but KrakenKid looked like Ace just killed a puppy in front of him. His mouth hung open and slowly but surely, he voiced what he was thinking. "You're... Not going to do... An evil monologue?"
Ace continued to switch between the two as if he was trying to solve a puzzle. The glowing blue eyes squinted in confusion. "...No? Why would I?"
KrakenKid took a long breath in before letting out a short scream. Cody flinched while Ace actually jumped in the air, looking more startled than before. "NO MONOLOGUE? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? THAT'S THE BEST PART!" KrakenKid looked like he was going to scream more but took in a long breath, a shaky sigh escaping him. If Ace wasn't preventing him from moving, he'd be shaking and pacing with frustration. "It's where you finally get to let everything out and shove it in the fake hero's face! It's so satisfying! You finally get to be the hero."
"And you reveal why you're doing it too, which normally takes them on an emotional roller coaster." Cody pipped in.
KrakenKid chuckled. "Never thought I'd say this, but thank you, penguin! See? It's the best! So what's yours?"
Ace was more skeptical than ever. "That sounds like a stupid idea, telling them everything. And I have nothing to owe to you, why would I tell you why I'm doing anything?" He took in a breath, stopping himself before facing them again. "I have my reasons, and one of them is because I don't owe you anything but a good old beat down. And because you humans are so flawed."
"Excuse me? I'm a kraken and he's a penguin. We're not human."
Ace gritted his teeth. "Human isn't always a race, it's a nature too. Penguins and krakens who break away from their normal one track mind of hunt and kill and just survive, nothing more- they all get that human mind set. Their emotions gain more meaning and get more complicated. They start having all these dreams and hopes and wishes outside of just survival. They ultimately become human, even if they weren't born that way, and they become so flawed. They make hundreds of mistakes, then get rid of those mistakes before they become a problem, pretend they don't exist and the process starts all over again."
"So, what?" Cody heard this type of speech before, and his eyes narrowed on the blue being. "You're better than us because you're not quite human?"
He tried to say more, but Ace would beat him to it. "No." His voice was cold and just hearing it sent a chill in the air. A humorless laugh escaped him, his head shaking slowly. "I'm an abomination."
Cody was taken aback while KrakenKid's eyes scanned him, suddenly so unsure of who he was talking to. Another laugh escaped him but this one was more bitter. "I never should've existed in the first place! I never should've even been here, doing all of this or talking to you, but you know what? That's on you, king."
Ace's eyes and body flashed with power, that same energy electrifying through his body, but for one moment, both of them could've sworn that there was a darkness, a shadow in his eyes. But as soon as that darkness did appear in the normally blue eyes, Ace flinched, shutting them tightly. His hands moved up to his head, clawing at it and mumbling something along the lines of, "What does it mean? Who is 'He'? I don't..." Before he settled and reopened his eyes. The blue had returned.
"So, if you want to play the blame game, take a look in the mirror before you point any fingers. Because my soul might be dirty, but yours isn't much better." Ace spat the words, his body sparking with more power but he clenched his fist and forced it all down.
KrakenKid's eyes trailed to the penguin, now spiralling with ideas and wondering if outside of what he hated him for, there was more darkness deep inside of him. Cody was stricken but stuttered it all out. "Wha-what does that mean? That's on me, what do you mean by that?"
"Figure it out." Ace growled lowly before he began to make Cody move, now in a lot more control than before. Cody felt a rush of power and a twitch in his eyes that no doubt, changed the color. If KrakenKid could move, he would have immediately backed up, but his body was frozen against his will, in place. Atlantean energy soon began to pour out of him, and only then did Ace move KrakenKid away from him, who sighed in relief when he was good six or so feet away from him, safe from the shocks.
After a moment, Ace released him, the power suddenly dropping until his eyes were normal once again. It became crystal clear that Ace doing that in the first place was a warning: He had a lot of power over him, and to stop asking questions.
However, KrakenKid knew the penguin very well, and one thing he found out early on was that trying to shut him up was next to impossible, no matter how many threats you'd send.
Cody barely even finished letting himself catch a breath before asking the next thing on his mind. "Where did you get that technology?"
Ace's annoyance was palpable, but he humored him anyways. "A scientist I borrowed for a while. I think he was called Jerold." Cody perked at the name, knowing it all too well. "It honestly didn't take much."
"You... Tortured him?" Cody choked, hating the bitter taste in his mouth when he said it.
Ace shook his head, knitting his eyebrows together. "No actually, I didn't even have to touch him. I just gave a little spark show and he freaked and started to spill. He even told me about you two, let me borrow his phone."
KrakenKid glanced towards Cody, looking for some sort of reaction, but Cody was deep in thought.
Cody had more than once asked Jerold to do him a favor, and very rarely did he ever accept. He was a stubborn man who prefered to work by his own rules rather than anyone else's, and the one time he did comply, making Cody a hypnotizer, it only turned on him later when the people he hypnotized all would tackle him upon hearing the word "Down".
So if Jerold made Ace all of this, there was a catch. Cody just had to figure out what it was.

"I think I got something."
Before Tanith could so much as turn her head, the barrier was gone in a flash. A smile form on her face and she turned to compliment Sam, but frowned when she noted that Sam's eyes were still transfixed on the screen. Slithering to her side, she did her best to understand what she was seeing, but failed to.
"We can go." Tanith's voice was small and unsure, still staring at the screen. "What's the hold up?"
Sam squinted at what she was reading. "I don't know for sure but it seems like designer's notes or something like it. Someone purposely left it here. It talks about what everything does, like how each tube can dispense-"
Tanith's eyes widened as she came across where Sam was reading, and recognized it. "Fool's Water!" Sam jerked when Tanith accidentally shouted in her ear. Tanith's eyes turned bright with curiosity as she leaned forward, picking up a couple words. "Quomodo haec possibilia sunt? I haven't seen Fool's Water in centuries! Since when was there any in Atlantis, and how did Ace get his hands on some?"
"Tanith, slow down a bit. Explain." Sam's eyebrows quirked.
"Fool's Water," Tanith started, taking a breath. "It was an old interrogation method, later seen as borderline torture but the thing about it was that everything can survive in it! It's not possible to drown." Sam opened her mouth to object but Tanith was too quick. "I know, you thought you were drowning, but that's what it does. The change in thickness entering your lungs makes them feel uncomfortable and gives you almost a drowning feel. The more you panic, the more that you actually start to "Drown" in a way, because it just gets worse. You never got hurt, or started to drown, you just thought you were."
When Tanith finished, she started to process her own words and noticed something. "But I wasn't in that, so was he trying to kill me? Playing a gamble? And how'd he do that in the first place?"
Sam's eyes shifted once again and found something else she didn't see before. "I think I have an answer to one of those questions." She typed a bit before Tanith felt something in her throat. She coughed until a small bug like device came out.
Her face turned white as a sheet and she hastily crushed it in her hands. Sam read on and answered more of what she was already thinking. "It was placed inside your throat and according to the coding, it was meant to block off any water's way of getting to your lungs, essentially choking you but..."
"But?" Tanith prompted, peeking over as Sam brought up the coding, staring deeply at it.
"But," Sam's eyebrows rose, surprised. "Every five seconds, it would give you a second to get a breath before going back." She suddenly slapped her own forehead. "That's why you were gasping! You can't gasp if you don't have anything in your lungs, and you did have little moments to get a breath. Ace wasn't trying to kill either of us, he just made it look like he was."
Tanith's mouth turned to a little 'O'. "Because if he killed what was holding both of them back, he'd have two angry and powerful people on his hands... That's actually pretty smart."
Sam paused for a moment. "Wait, how come he didn't use Fool's Water on you?"
Tanith paused before gesturing towards her chest. "My kind's lungs are very adaptable, we can technically breathe in almost anything, with the exception of things like too much smoke but we can still last quite a while. On the down side, if we smoke those weird cynder things, we'll most likely die within the first or second one, mostly because of the tar that gets in the lungs. Adaptable, and oddly fragile at the same time."
Sam hesitated before asking what was on her mind. "Anything? Like, lava too?"
"Technically yes, but we'll most likely die before we can feel it. Only Obsidian Tails can tolerate being inside lava."
"Obsidian Tails?" Sam inquired.
"Oh, sorry. That's slang for the Dimidium Anguis who live nearby volcanos. They can breathe in lava and often act like they're the same as hot springs. As a Coconut Tail who lived nearby some, I can tell you this: Really nice people but they're a little... Out of their heads."
Sam nodded along, before returning to the screen. Her eyes trailed all along the screen, moving some coding she didn't need to see out of the way before bringing up a document titled "If You're Reading This"
If you're reading this, then hopefully you are a friend rather than a foe. I decided to leave behind a note in case my plan does go smoothly. The wispy thing known as Ace now appears to have a body and asked me to build somethings for him after abducting me on my way to work. Seeing as he threatened to electrocute me, and I am in no mood for such a thing, I must comply.
Good news, none of the things he has asked me to make are lethal: The holding tubes simply fake it out, and the collars, while they can kill the people they control, I find it unlike this will happen. Bad news, he's let it slip that these are intended for Cody, KrakenKid, Sam and Tanith, and I don't like the sound of that.
So, I have put a couple tricks to the machines. The force field can easily be brought down by anyone who knows how to code, or brought up as well. The holding tubes have a lock on them rather than standard coding to keep them open or shut, so an electrical shock or anyone who knows how to lockpick can easily get out or in if needed. Finally, the collars are tricky, mainly because Ace was watching carefully as I made them, but there's a spot on the back of it, which would be below the back of the head, where hitting there will make it fall apart, and will free who it is used on.
I'm afraid it's the best I can do, but knowing all of you, it'll be enough.
-J
"Back of it?" Tanith echoed. She blinked before giving the greenish mermaid a hopeful smile. "We can do that."
Sam nodded back to her, a small little smirk forming on her face. "You and me? Easily, just follow my lead."
***********************
Neither KrakenKid nor Cody could deny that as Ace rapidly began to gain more and more total control over using both of them at the same time, they were getting nervous.
They weren't entirely sure what he wanted with them yet, but anything including both of them being under his control wasn't appealing. And after Cody particularly ticked him off, both were getting more afraid to ask, not sure that if they did, that their safety would be guaranteed, or if he could find a way to make their hearts stop.
However, when Sam and Tanith ran in, Sam's bow out and shot at Ace as fast as she could while Tanith backed her up, and ultimately trying to come to their rescue, they froze in place. Partly because Ace had to stop controlling them for a moment to move out of the way himself, but also because there was a sudden fear. That even though they got out of the death tubes, they might've been safer inside those than out here, with them, especially when they couldn't control their own bodies, no matter how hard they tried.
Ace's eyes flashed with anger and was about to sent a shock their way, but then stopped himself. The piercing blue eyes landed on the penguin and the kraken, making their hearts skip a beat, Cody nearly gasping and KrakenKid holding his breath. Both were hoping he didn't have the same idea they did, but their hearts sank when their bodies flexed and began to move, getting into a fighting stance.
"You got out." Ace commented to the ladies. His eyes were calculating, and his mind running wild with everything he could do.,
"Yeah? So?" Sam crossed her arms.
"...You were safer inside the tubes." Ace answered darkly and quickly began to act.
Cody lurched forward, charging for them and feeling the Atlantean energy in his palms while KrakenKid stayed behind him, gun out.
Tanith put up a force field before Cody reached them, but his hands still pounded against them, the energy releasing anyways. Tanith winced as cracks formed on the shield, and brought out her staff, the gem already glowing with power. The bubble was re-enforced and the hybrid let out a breath, but it didn't last long as KrakenKid's gun shot and the bubble exploded, sending Tanith and Sam stumbling back.
"Sorry Sam!" Sam didn't get to process his voice before Cody tackled her. Tanith tried to come to her aid but a plasma bullet hitting right in front of her made her back up and lock eyes with KrakenKid, who mouthed 'Sorry' and generally looked flustered.
Cody tried to wrestle Sam to the ground but she grabbed his arm and twisted it before kicking him in the shin. He screamed in pain and if he had been in control, he would've backed off immediately. "Sorry about this, Cody. Selena and I took a couple self defense classes."
"Must've been really good one's because that's- AAK!" He tried to suppress his surprise when Ace made him go for another swing but Sam grabbed his punch and suplexed him. His back hit the ground and the wind was knocked out of him.
Sam turned to check on Tanith, and noticed KrakenKid's gun on the ground, meaning she did disarm him, but watching them fight, all of Tanith's moves were defensive, blocking punches with her staff and putting up a magical wall to keep herself safe, but never made any move to go after him.
"Tanith!" Sam called. "Punch him or something, he's not going to stop unless you fight back! Exhaust him!"
A look of panic passed over her face but before she could say anything, her hesitation allowed KrakenKid to elbow her in the stomach. "Aaa! Tanith!"
"Mmm fine, KK." She answered, voice a little muffled as she bubbled herself. "Just surprised."
Sam herself was thrown off as Cody's Atlantean energy hit her like a ton of bricks, sending her flying back. Tanith gasped and quickly ran to her, but gained a little shock herself from Cody. Though it was fraction of what Sam received, her body was in intense pain, but she managed to get close to Sam and put up a shield.
"Why..." Sam grunted before lifting her head to stare down the half snake. "Why aren't you attacking him?" She asked as the pair strolled over to the bubble but didn't move to attack it yet.
"Uh..." Tanith nervously glanced towards KrakenKid before turning back. "I might've promised CannibalCrab that I wasn't going to hurt him and if I did, he was welcome to empty an entire round of his shotgun into my heart?"
There was a long pause before KrakenKid shrieked. "YOU DID WHAT?"
"Why would you-" Sam cut herself off, already figuring the answer was love. "Never mind that, let's switch then. You take Cody, I'll cover KrakenKid. Sound fair?"
There were a couple reasons why Tanith hesitated. The first was because she knew that her mostly passive magic and Cody's Atlantean energy that was extremely destructive didn't mix and that even simple shocks hurt badly, making her more vulnerable to them than others. However, the second was because she remembered Sam's throwdown with Cody and suddenly was afraid for KrakenKid, knowing he was a lot lighter than the penguin.
But, they couldn't afford such luxuries so eventually, Tanith nodded. She made the shield suddenly expand, knocking Cody and KrakenKid to the ground before letting it drop.
Tanith rushed to Cody and quickly tackled him before he could get to his feet and wrapped her tail around him. "Sorry!" She told him, trying to get a good aim at the back of the collar but Cody elbowed her in the face, making her flinch.
"Right back at you." He said through gritted teeth. Then, his eyes widened. "Tanith, go! Run!"
Her blue eyes move down to his hands were the energy was charging and she hastily untangled herself and rolled out fo the way just as Cody let out a defensive shock. He shifted to face her but she smacked her tail in his face. She allowed herself a moment to check on the other two and did it just in time to see KrakenKid get thrown against the wall and pinned there. Her eyes quickly turned back to Cody just in time to once again, slap him in the face with her tail.
"Would you stop doing that?" Cody asked, exasperated. Tanith nodded and instead, socked him right in the eye. He groaned. "Never mind, go back to the tail, that was better."
Another round of of electricity buzzed through Cody, but his arm didn't aim at her, but rather at Sam. Tanith yelled a warning just before he shot it, making Sam release Krakenkid to dodge it. KrakenKid moved to attack Sam but Tanith noticed and went for her aid.
Tanith meant to shoot a little bubble as a warning for KrakenKid to stop, it's path directed to fly right in front of him, but instead it bashed right into his head, making him fall to the ground from the impact. A squeak escaped the medic. "Don't tell Cannibal!"
"Not in a million years." KrakenKid yelled back, panting. "Why would you make a promise like that?"
"I had just tasered myself, I wasn't in the right mind for any good decisions!"
"YOU TASERED YOURSELF?"
"I panicked! Cannibal and Blooper had just accused me of being a traitor and-"
"THEY DID WHAT?"
"I'm going to stop talking because this is only getting worse. I'll tell you later!" Tanith just finished right when Cody swung, only giving her enough time to redirect it so it hit her shoulder rather than her stomach. She grabbed his arm and pulled him forward, quickly switching places and forcing his stomach to the ground. She hit the collar as hard as she could with the end of her staff, making it fall apart, then sighed deeply. Her eyes moved to Sam, who had just managed to do the same to KrakenKid and was helping him get up.
It was only when they recovered and had gotten up that their eyes all locked on to Ace. He discarded the bracelet and now backed up, now realizing as they were spreading out, they were not only circling him, but cornering him. KrakenKid picked up his gun from off the ground and carefully aimed it while Tanith blocked the exit, fiddling with her staff. Sam looked like she was about to charge at him any moment, and Cody prepared to start using his Atlantean energy to his advantage, his spear now out, but his exhaustion from not using it that whole battle was showing.
It was at this moment that they all forgot something important, something that Tanith and KrakenKid knew better than the other two, but the knowledge still remained. That when you corner an animal, especially if they are scared or wounded, their instinct is to lash out. And after spending some time with him, they should've recognized it through the jumps at loud noises and aggressive behavior when they got too close, that Ace had the instincts much like an animal.
So, Ace began charge a ball of blue electricity, though controlled, it was getting more out of control as the ball got bigger. KrakenKid almost shot, but he froze for a moment, remembering that this was the same attack that put Darrel in a mini coma, and was the reason he was still hospitalized.
No one could stop him before he aimed for Cody and released. A mixture of exhaustion and a 'Deer In Headlights' moment kept his legs from moving out of the way, and he just stood there. The lightening bolt was headed right for him. He heard several people cry his name, but he couldn't move.
A sudden figure blocked his way.
******************
I finally got it done! It took a while since I had a lot going on but I finally finished it~
Oh boy, lots of stuff.
Why Ace blames Cody so much will be revealed in a couple chapters so just you wait. Also, Ace doesn't understand monologues and KrakenKid freaks out.
Sam and Tanith get to chat a little, then go and fight the boys. The chapter 'Traitor' is brought up again-remember that promise Tanith made to Cannibal? Wow she makes a lot of promises- and a lot of crap happens.
Also, does that count as a cliffhanger?
Anyways, I hope you guys liked this! Be sure to comment what you think, and goodbye!
