Chapter 35- Disappearece
Cody
I could not stop laughing as Pikalus raged, throwing the controller onto the couch. "THAT'S NOT FAIR!"
I lightly shook my head. "Hey, I won fair and square. No cheats or tricks. Well except for juking you out at the end. Just give it up, you aren't good at Captain Falcon."
Professor crossed his arms, eyes narrowing down. "I'm never playing Super Smash Bro's Brawl with you ever again..."
I opened my mouth to remind him that once again, he said the same thing last week when both of our phones buzzed at the same time. Both of us paused before taking it out. I carefully read through it and looked up, to find Professor had locked eyes with me.
"You got it too?" He nodded. "Great, let's go investigate."
Down by the poor district, the situation was at the very end of the section in a large wooden home. The place was already surrounded by soldiers and we found Spartacus there, which surprised me. Normally it was PebbleTeen dealing with these sorts of things. Speeding up my pace, I stopped in front of him.
"Hey! What's going on? You didn't really say anything other than it was an emergence. Do we have a murder or something? Please tell me it's some sort of party, anything nice for once!"
The centaur sighed, his hoofs scratched at the ground. "I'd love to give good news, believe me Cody, but unfortunately, that is not the case here. We aren't sure what happened but... One of the Atlanteans has vanished from their home. So far, we know they were in their bed at 10 PM last night but vanished by 8 AM this morning. They were female, age 17. The window was open so we are assuming that's the way they got out, but why seemed to be the question. According to her family, her name was Conway. They're inside."
I nodded along, taking in everything. "Mmmhmmmm... Alright. Is it just me and Professor or is Tanith, PebbleTeen, or anyone else going to join us?"
Spartacus paused for a moment but just shrugged. "PebbleTeen has the day off and I did contact Tanith but she hasn't responded. Most likely, it's just us today. Go see for yourself."
The house was mainly just full of small bedrooms with only a kitchen, bathroom and living room being the exception. Apparently they had almost 13 kids. I had no idea how their parents stayed sane but they were actually pretty calm, outside of their daughter disappearing. They didn't have much to tell me that seemed useful so I bid farewell and decided to check what Conway's files had to say. However, I wouldn't get far before another disappearance popped up. And another. And another.
Back at the palace, I gathered as many people I could get and laid out the files on each missing person. Once we were gathered, I told them what was what.
"Alright," I scanned the small crowd. With me, I had managed to get Sam, Selena, Creepig and Nyanta's help to figure it all out. "We have four Atlanteans who all disappeared today. In order, their names are: Conway, Owen, Delaney and Yin. Here are their files."
Sam picked one up at random and Selena peeked over her shoulder to read it. Creepig and Nyanta both took one for themselves and me and Professor decided on the remaining.
However, there was a problem. Conway was a local student, young, female and a fish-person. Owen was an adult, male, Mechanic and a griffin. As for Delaney and Yin, they were married, one a Seaweedain and the other, a humanoid fish, an older couple, late 50's. There wasn't a connection, not in race, age or gender. None of them even had similar jobs!
"I don't get it..." I huffed, letting Professor take the file and read it for himself. I sat on the ground, slouching over. "The only thing in common is that they all disappeared the same way. They live in different parts of the city, Owen even lives in the outskirts! I don't understand... Was it a kidnapping? That seemed logical, given all of them are gone without a trace. Did they just go meet up for a club no one knew about? Are they making Chimichangas? WHO KNOWS?"
Professor held it for about five minutes before tossing it back on the table. "I got nothing. You?"
The creeper-pig fusion shook his head and placed it on top of the other one. The counselor did the same soon after. The sisters however, kept staring at it, whispering to each other. They looked up and grabbed the other three files, comparing them before Sam's eyes widened and Selena gasped to herself. "What?" I asked finally.
"You said they disappeared around this order right?" Sam laid it out, going from Conway and Owen to Delaney and Yin. I nodded slowly, scanning it but didn't get the importance.
"Why? Is that important or something? I mean, the times were all scatter as well but unless you got it like they're all prime numbers or something..." I quickly checked to make sure that wasn't the case.
"No Cody, not that. Look at them! At the names!"
Everyone other than the sisters leaned in to see for themselves. Professor sharply inhaled, Nyanta's tail fluffed out and Creepig sudden backed up. But I couldn't find anything. "Oh no..." Professor whispered. "That's... That's just creepy! Is that a coincidence or-"
"People randomly disappearing and then this?" Sam grimaced. "I doubt it."
Glancing up, I met the other's eyes. "I don't see it. What am I looking at?"
"Oh for Pete's sake Cody!" Selena rolled her eyes and pulled out a pen. She quickly circled a bunch of things then let me see for myself. Eyebrows knitting together, I was able to see it more clearly. The pink tailed mermaid had circled the first letter of each one. I had to read it through a couple times before it really hit me.
"Oh." I spoke softly. My heart began to palpitate. "We might have a problem."
Put in order of when they disappeared, their names spelled out a word.
Cody
Coincidence or not, that couldn't be good.
Right then, my phone rang and I jumped. Fumbling for it, the word 'Unknown Number' flashed on it. I quickly answered, putting it on speaker. "Hello?" I said quickly, my heart beating out of my chest. "Who's there?"
"Greetings Maverick." The voice was distorted and echoed, but something told me it was a guy speaking. "You seem to be missing a couple Atlanteans. I see you got my message as well."
Whipping around, I tried to see if someone was watching. Selena was definitely creeped out though her sister just seemed interesting in what exactly this man had to say. Professor's eyes narrowed at the phone, like he was trying to stare them down. "How do you know we figured that out? Are you watching us?"
He let out a giggle, one that chilled me to my very core. "I am. Your camera's aren't exactly high security. Though I must say, I applaud the amount you have set up. There seem to be little blind spots. Now, onto business. You want your citizens back I assume?"
"Well of course!" I answered quickly.
"Then meet me in the Sneaky Sister's tunnels. We need to... Discuss the deal."
The line went dead, leaving us with nothing but shock and silence.
"I don't see why I have to stay behind..." Professor grumbled through the earpiece.
While Creepig and Nyanta both sat this one out, Professor gave the rest of us an earpiece to speak through. It wouldn't have been needed normally, but Sam and Selena refused to show him their tunnels so he was stuck on the other side.
Selena rolled her eyes, even though Pikalus couldn't see her. "We already told you, we don't need more people to see where we live! If Tanith were here, we'd say the same thing!" She then paused and turned to Sam. "Wait... Sam, does Tanith actually know where we live?"
Sam just shrugged and walked on.
Though it was still day outside, I found it hard to see in the tunnels. The thick water was making it hard to swim very fast and the sisters would have left me in the dust if they weren't always waiting for me to catch up. How they lived like this was certainly a mystery.
"Over here is our base. If we don't see anything until then, we'll have to check the back parts." They explained. I nodded along.
Up ahead, something dark flickered into view making the sisters stop. "What? Is that-" Sam muttered to her sister but Selena instantly shook his head.
"It can't be... He agreed to stick to the plan."
My eyes narrowed, shifting between them. What did they mean by plan?
"Well who's that then?"
"I don't know..." Selena mumbled, backing up. Sam however, stood her ground.
Clearing her throat, she called out. "Hey! Who are you?" Selena and I quickly tried to shush her but it was too late. The dark being turned to us and my heart stopped.
They were long, having an almost wispy form that levitated and darker than anything around us, making it stand out. It didn't seem to have a mouth but did have a pair of glowing and haunting blue eyes. They seemed to stare into our soul. One side of its body was a lot more lopsided, not as curved as the rest of its body.
For one moment, we all froze but suddenly, it jerked, slamming its body into the wall so hard that the cave started to crumble. "Everyone get out!" I hollered.
Selena was quick to comply and bolted out as fast as she could swim, a look of pure panic on her face as she did. I went to join her but when Sam didn't follow, I stopped and looked back.
The mermaid was glancing back between us and the other side of the tunnel, a look on her face that was unreadable. "Sam? What are you doing? Come on! We have to get out of here and away from that thing!"
"Endy might be in trouble! I can't leave him behind!" She cried back and started to make her way over to the house, slipping a bow out. Rocks started to pile, making it harder and harder to see her. A large boulder landed right next to me, reminding me that even staying here wasn't safe. My heart sped up but I couldn't bring myself to leaving her behind.
"Sam! He'll be fine, just come on! We gotta-" I cut out as a scene was layout before me.
Ceiling poured down, hitting all over the place. Selena yelped, making me whip around, but luckily, it was only a close call. A rock the size of my fist hit my arm, probably bruising it but that wasn't what concerned me. All around, the path between Sam and us was being blocked off. I attempted to try and help her, but it was too late. A lopsided wall blocked off my path and left me to only watch as the ceiling from above rained down on Sam. Before it could hit her, my vision was blocked off, she let out a cry of fear and a flash of blue all happened at once.
And then it was still.
Selena froze, staring at the newly made wall. I did the same until a low rumbled reminded me we weren't safe. "Salami, quick!" I hooked my arm around her's and dragged her out and to the outside. She made no movements at all which was easier but did worry me.
Once sunlight hit our faces again, I turned to her. "You okay?" She nodded slightly, her eyes overcome with worry. "What happened in there? What-..." My eyes squinted, remembering something she said before. "What did you mean by 'Plan'?"
Selena's eyes fell. "It's hard to explain but... It's better if they help me explain. Hold on, let's get Pikalus and... My other partner. I... I can't do this alone."
Pikalus arrived in no time flat and we gathered on top of the hill. Selena's "Other partner" was coming as we speak. Selena had already told Pikalus the situation, one he grimaced at. As the whispered to each other, clearly leaving me out of the conversation I just huffed and glanced around until a color way too out of place caught my eye. Purple.
At first I tensed up, thinking KrakenKid was here but then it turned to confusion. They looked similar but... It just wasn't him.
My guess was they were male, I don't know why but something just told me they were. He was shorter and only had four limbs, though they were tentacles, he also had a more round head. His eyes were a bright yellow and big. He wore a bandana around his head and raised an eyebrow at me when approached. Sharing a look with the mermaid, he slowly came to a stop.
"What's up? Why is he here?" He nodded at me, looking me up and down before narrowing his eyes. What was with this kid? "And what happened with the plan? I was all ready and about to do my part but you never came."
"Change of plans, a lot of things went wrong." Selena said, then glanced between the two of us. "I guess I should explain. Cody, this is Blooper. Blooper, Cody. I don't think you've actually met."
The two of us stared the other down before I broke the silence. "Why does he look like... You know." I motioned my head towards Blooper. Why did that name sound so familiar? "Him."
Selena held her breath while Professor suddenly became interested in the ground. Blooper rolled his eyes and faced me, something burning deep within him, almost like a strong hate. "Because I'm his son. Baby Blooper, KrakenKid's son and heir, lord of death, greatest ever and pranking master."
Selena just scoffed. "No one calls you those things!"
"They should." He smirked.
Selena opened her mouth to object but I quickly waved my arms in a stopping motion. All attention turned to me. "Okay, let me get this straight... You, Selena, are friends with Blooper, who also happens to be KrakenKid's son?" Selena nodded slowly and I sighed deeply.
"First Tanith is all buddy-buddy with KrakenKid and has been for who knows how long, then you're friends with his son? Next you're going to tell me Sam and CannibalCrab have tea on thursday's and all of you have a neutral-allied-with-evil knitting club."
Selena tilted her head, sucking in a breath. "Well..."
My eyes widened. "WHAT?"
Instantly, the mermaid burst out laughing, Blooper doing the same while Professor was doing his best to hold back. "Kidding, kidding! Sam and I have never even met CannibalCrab."
I let out a long breath. What's with my friends and becoming really good friends with the Tide Changers? Twice now? Am I not seeing something here? "Back to the point, what were you saying before? About a plan or something."
Blooper shot the mermaid a look and she nervously shrugged in response. Soon, her head turned to me, that same nervous look lingered in her eyes. "We... We were going to pull a prank on you. Actually, we kinda already did but then that thing appear and it just fell apart."
"Prank? What prank?" I demanded, brown eyes narrowing down.
She smiled sheepishly. "Remember how those people were disappearing?"
My face dropped. "Don't tell me..."
"Yeah. That was us. Those people are fine, don't worry! All of us were in on it! We were trying to make you think that someone was after you. That weird voice you heard on the phone was actually Blooper and a voice changer." She nodded in his direction. "We were leading you into the caves for the final part but then we got interrupted."
My mind realed. How the heck did they manage to pull that together in the first place? Slightly impressed but that seems a little overboard. "What were you going to do?" I asked, raising my eyebrow.
Selena and Pikalus let out a tense laugh. "We might have planned to "Kidnap" you and then pretend kill both me and Sam in front of you and then when the killer comes for you, reveal it was all just a prank."
Right then, my mouth dropped. "Okay, that's really extreme. What the heck guys?"
"I've done worse." Blooper admitted, the slightest of grins on his face. "I convinced my Dad I was taking over the Conch Command, turning everyone against him and acted like I was going to kill him at one point. He totally fell for it. Whatcha think about that Maverick?"
I stared at the young kraken. "I... That's horrible and I feel really bad for KrakenKid right now... If that's a prank to you guys." I let out a puff of breath. "You probably need some therapy... But that weird dark thing that made the cave collapse, that wasn't you guys?" All of their heads shook. "We have a problem then. Sam was in there! We don't even know if she's alive or trapped!"
"I know!" Selena wailed, her hands flew up and grabbed the sides of her head, gripping at it. "It's all my fault! I wanted to prank you and I got her into this mess! I'm sorry and we need to get her out of there!"
Something pulled at my heartstrings and I gave in. "It's okay. I'll get some soldiers by the lab to clear the wreckage out. In the meantime, whatever that dark thing was, we didn't know what it was. However," I smiled. The others perked up. "We do know someone who has a lot of knowledge on magic and strange creatures."
Within the house of the hybrid, the four of us plus the owner of said house, all sat in her living room. Blooper, Selena and Professor Pikalus all squeezed on the couch while I just sat on the floor next to Professor. Tanith was in the arm chair right nearby and sipped warm milk as we told our story. Her eyes blinked more frequently and her blonde-brown hair was messed up, sticking out in many directions, almost making it look like it was trying to become an afro. As soon as we finished, we waited for her response.
Tanith sat there for a moment in silence before finally saying something. "So... While pulling that prank Selena and Blooper were talking about-"
"You knew about that too?"
"Well yeah," She shrugged. "Half of Atlantis knew, even if they weren't playing a part. But basically, you're saying a dark spirit with glowing eyes like thing attacked, collapsed the tunnels and now Sam is gone?"
"That sounds about right." Pikalus replied.
Tanith's eyes shifted from person to person until there was no one left and spoke again. "Is this what happens when I sleep in?" She asked, seemingly to be humorous but also a layer of seriousness in it.
"Uh-" I glanced between the other three. "Sometimes. Aside from that, do you know what this thing is?"
Tanith let out a sigh and shifted in position. "I do. Warning you right now, dealing with them is not easy. Their real name is in Latin, but for the sake of all of you, I'll say the translation. Shadow People. Said to have been the 'shadows' of dead people. All that remains of them, that is, if they don't take some other form. My village has had some around it before. They're normally neutral, kinda like Zombie Pigmen and only attack when they have reason to. If someone in Atlantis made one mad, the whole pack will come running to their aid and they won't just attack that one person, but whoever else looks like them or lives near them. If they're out of Atlantis, they won't stop until there's no one left..."
I was left stunned. Every piece of information just made this whole situation seem worse. Before I could ask more, Selena quickly spoke up. "What about Sam? Will she be okay?"
"Most likely, yes. They don't really kill anyone other than whoever they're after. If they do attack someone innocent in their eyes, they normally just put them in a coma like sleep and take them back to their base. I guess it's like taking a prisoner of war if you want to put it in a sense. They can wake up, just if the being lets them, or if you manage to defeat them. We have a big problem on our hands, but luckily, they only come out at night or in dark places. They're weaker in the light. We do have a break period, so let's use it."
"Tanith? I hate to break this to you, but it's almost 4 PM."
Her eyes widened. "4? I knew I was sleeping in but at what cost? We should probably get to the lab and make something. I have some information on what might work against them and Professor, you can make something."
(Little Authors Note: I got really exhausted after this part so it might not be as good as the beginning... Sorry, I did my best.)
As night descended on the underwater city, we only felt more and more anxious. Tanith and Professor were hard at work, doing everything they could to make a gun that would use light and sulfur as ammo.
As for the rest of us, we all rested by the entrance, watching and waiting for any possible attacks incoming. Blooper was closest to the door, basically acting as the one to alert us all if anything happened. The Atlanteans were skeptical having him here, but they tolerated it, only because he was a child. That, and that none of them knew of his true parentage.
Around 8, Blooper suddenly gasped. "Uh, guys? They're coming!" He quickly moved out of the way as guards and scientists working from outside rushed in and then motioned us towards the door.
"Quick! Close the vault!" I ordered as Selena and I came to his aid. As fast as we could, we shut off the entrance, and just in time to hear a loud bang from the other side, soon followed by many others. At least six of them were all trying to get in before it all stopped.
And all was quiet. Too quiet.
We had to sleep in the lab but when morning came is when I found out of the true damage.
Though it was impossible to count, over one hundred Atlanteans were taken, left with barely a trace. The heart of Atlantis was in the worst shape. Almost everyone from there was missing. In fact, from the few the got out in the palace were Sharkco, Rasmus and One Eye. Everyone else was gone from sight.
So I made a decision to protect them.
Since Professor had all the intel he needed to finish the gun, I had Tanith go home for rest and Blooper went with her. Tanith was to protect not only herself and the young kraken, but Rasmus and One Eye as well, though One Eye didn't really need it that much.
Selena was going to stay with PebbleTeen for a while. News came back from the Soldiers and Sam was nowhere to be found. Endy was okay and staying with them, but no sign of what even happened to his owner.
Professor Pikalus worked away on his new gun, sometimes testing it and always getting smoky or explosion filled results and having to do it over again. I sat a little ways away from the table but still relatively close. The two of us were the only ones who hadn't gotten much rest. I was too busy worrying and coming up with plans to keep my citizens safe and Professor just kept working on a weapon.
I couldn't stop thinking to myself at what I was doing, or rather not doing. I didn't know how to help Pikalus or cast some bubble protection thing! I wasn't under trauma from losing my sister and I definatly wasn't a baby. I didn't feel like I was doing much at all. Even when it came to being a leader, I still think that Professor or Tanith could do a better job. As the mad scientist started to unscrew a bolt to get to the power source, he glanced over.
"You holding up?" He asked as he worked on rewiring and inputting a strange looking blue battery. I sighed and nodded.
"I guess but... What is happening? Where did these creatures even come from? What did we do wrong? I... I wish I could do more."
"You are. Cody, you're our leader, whether anybody likes it or not and not just as a king. You have the natural skills as one too. Selena and Blooper were pretty good with the prank and putting it together but that was temporary. Tanith's more of a soldier, she just knows how to speak to other ones like her and me? I've got no idea what I'm doing half the time so it's not like I've got any choices. You're a natural leader."
My smile became wider and wider once I got his message. "Thanks."
"Don't mention it." He gave me a little smile before diverting his full attention to his work.
The passed by quickly, and then dusk was upon us. Slowly, but surely, I slipped into a deep sleep, only to be woken up by someone shaking my shoulder. "Whaaaaat?" I grumbled, swiveling my body around. Though not as comfortable as my bed, the desk and chair wasn't too bad to sleep on. "I've only gotten like 8 minutes!" I complained to the scientist.
He chuckled. "You've been asleep for 2 hours." My face dropped and I stared in shock.
"Two? You're joking!" I groaned. "Why doesn't it feel like it?"
Professor just laughed but nudged me to my feet and showed a strange gun off. "I got it. I finally got it!"
The gun in his hand was small but compact. It had a short handle connecting was a cylinder. It was blue with white streaks going from the barrel of it, down to the trigger. Professor cocked the gun, and held it pointing upwards with one hand. "Let's go test this out."
Moving outside, night was upon us. Everyone was packing up and getting ready to get out as fast as possible, except for us. I turned to him. "We should have a backup plan in case this goes badly."
He nodded firmly. "Agreed. If we get caught, either head for the lab, or the rails, whichever is closer. Now, let's see whe-"
He didn't get to finish and it all happened in an instant.
Out of nowhere, something dark tackled him and both tumbled to the ground. Familiar glowing blue eyes filled my vision as the long 'Shadow Person' latched onto him, forming odd blobs of what seemed like arms. Professor quickly fired his new special gun but upon colliding with it, the ammo just disintegrated and ultimately did nothing. His face fell and soon, he was consumed by the darkness.
More and more started to appear and swarm the area, most going for the lab which left me with one option: The railways.
I made a mad dash for the minecarts and quickly hopped inside one, only to see a small group of them starting to follow. The minecart took off and soon, they were no longer in my sight. I let out a sigh of relief but it was short lived.
Atlantis was under siege. What seemed like a huge cloud of darkness was looming over it, but something told me it was a group of them. All, raining down on the city I called home.
Now from seeing a lot more, there seemed to be quite the variety of them. Some were short and others were quite long. Eye color was another one, some having blue while I had seen others having green, brown and even yellow in one case. They seemed to be everywhere.
The sound of another voice caught me off guard and I turned in the direction of it: Behind me.
Selena rode in a cart several feet behind me but waved. "Cody!" She called. "Where's Pikalus?"
My heart dropped. I couldn't answer. She watched my expressions and frowned as well, but when her mouth opened again, a yellow eyed shadow person dropped on her and clung to her back. Selena did her best to shake them off, but in the process, derailed her cart and the two of them faded from my view. I tried to stop and reach out, calling out to her, but soon I couldn't even tell where she went. She was gone.
The streets of Atlantis were cleared of Atlanteans, but not of the Shadow People. Few lingered around, so I managed to dodge them. Looks like they prefer to go for the groups.
I went for the first place I could think of, the last place that had people I knew of. The red roofed house wasn't too hard to spot from all of the blue. As I slipped through the houses, I noticed a strange blue glow coming from upstairs, one that wasn't frightening just... Alien almost.
I slipped into the house, only to find three people all inside a dome. Tanith was raising her staff in the air, keeping the protective spell around them while Rasmus and One Eye both stared at the stairs and the same blue glow coming from them. Upon seeing me, they sighed with relief. "At least you're here! Blooper left for Selena's house a while ago and he hasn't come back since!" Tanith whisper shouted and let down the dome, just enough for me to get in and put it back up.
I hesitated but eventually blurted out. "They got everyone else and I don't know what to do!"
Rasmus and One Eye both exchanged a glance while Tanith's expression turned horrified. "Oh no... We gotta get out of here! I know there are some upstairs so be as silent as possible, okay? We might be able to escape."
I nodded and once again, she let the shield down. However, as I turned to the door, the glow intensified and I shot a look back before getting an order. "RUN!"
Five of them swarmed down the stairs and started to infiltrate. One Eye and Rasmus, the two closest to them, were both taken down, though did put up a fight. Tanith and I bolted for the door, I took the lead. However, as we made it to her lawn, one yanked her tail back and another coming to aid them. "Go Cody! Get out!" She cried before darkness overcame her as well.
My mind was scrambling and I just ran. I couldn't think straight and it was starting to become hard to even process what these things looked like in the dark. I attempted to go up the street, but a group descended from above, right in my way. Two in front stepped forward and looked ready to strike, one had a striking pair of yellow eyes. I stumbled back, unable to really do anything else. Whipping around, I could see now it was forming into a circle, the long one with blue eyes joining it and all started to close in.
As I reeled my mind with ideas, I kept spinning around and around. Why couldn't I think? What was going on?
"YOU JUST GOT PRANKED BRO!"
A loud voice made me literally jump in the air and spin around once it started laughing. The yellow eyed one and the partner of it doppled over, their sides heaving until they started to pull at their own form. I watched, confused until they actually made their dark and almost wispy form come off, revealing something I didn't expect.
"Selena and Blooper?" I tilted my head in confusion. They grinned and nodded.
"Not just them either." Came another voice from behind. Turning to that, two more did the same, showing a grinning Professor and Sam.
"Sam? Professor? But both of you got taken! Sam, you disappeared after a cave in! What happened? If-" I paused. "If all of these are people then who's that?" I nodded at the same one who took Professor and Sam, but felt even more perplexed when they showed themself. "Tanith? But-"
More and more of these 'Shadow People' started to pull off costumes, revealing Atlantean citizens until Selena and Blooper finally gave in. "Wanna know what's going on?" I nodded vigorously.
"We totally pranked you!" Blooper laughed. "The first prank was just the start of it! We tricked you twice! There was no "Shadow People"! That was just a mix of really good technology, costumes, and the fact that you're not only sleep deprived but it's dark and hard to see. Shadow People don't exist!"
"Well," Tanith corrected. "They do, just far away. I was saying actual facts and- never mind. Go on." She stopped quickly after getting a couple looks.
"Anyways," Selena took over. "This had a ton of work. That cave in? We had to cause an actual cave in to do that. Tanith's job was to cause it and protect Sam afterwards, which she did and then later, take the Professor to make it seem like all of your options are dwindling. I was to make you see that no one could escape, Tanith just was extra measures and- TA DA! Prank!"
I stared at her. "How... How did you pull all of that off?"
"So much work! We had to have this special fabric made and get stuff to make it seem like eyes are glowing, I had to read like ten books on Shadow People and... It was a lot okay? What did you think?" She grinned, Blooper soon joined her. "Did we do good?"
I looked between all of the people and nodded. They did manage to pull it all together. That certainly was impressive. However, I could only thin just one thing.
"Just don't do it again. Please."
