Chapter 12- Cake-splosion
Sneaky Selena
I tapped impatiently on the stonewall, staring at opening, waiting. Seconds turned to minutes and my patience was depleting quickly. I huffed and glanced behind me. There stood the beautiful base that was ours. The shield with the two 'SS's told everyone this, though not many have seen it.
Two houses propped up and connected by a bridge made out of wood. The houses were of similar design but there were many things that separated them at the same time. Color for example. One house bore a darker purple color while the other, a light pink. The pink one was mine, the remaining, belonged to Sam.
The rest of the area was quite beautiful. One level had a variety of flowers, blooming well and a bench to sit on just to view them. A small pool of purple water that acted as a hot tub was also here. There was even a place made of gold that held some of the most precious things we had.
Of course, there was that one wall, gazing into the Professor's lab too. He still had no idea about it.
After gazing at all this, I eventually returned to what I was doing before. One of the opening in the base still had nothing there. "Where is she?" I mumbled to myself and began to tap louder. More minutes passed and a low hum began to rise out of my throat.
"I'm here, I'm here. Stop doing the thing." The voice of my sister greeted me as she swam into view. I let out a short puff of air from my nose. "Where have you been and what "Thing" are you talking about?" I retorted. She rolled her eyes playfully before answering me. "Well, for one thing I got stuck at work. And the "Thing" I was talked about is that really low noise you do. It's like an angry hum. You always do that when you're frustrated."
"What? I do not!"
"You just did it before I came here. Don't deny it, I heard you."
"I- UGH!"
I yelled in frustration and turned around, crossing my arms. This only got a laugh out of Sam.
"I know you're angry with me but," She grinned wildly. "I have something that can cheer you up a bit." At the words, my Interest spiked. I whipped around, all negativity was lost. "What? What is it?" I quickly asked. She chuckled again.
"Well, I thought since I've been gone so much because of work, we could have some quality sister time." Her eyes sparked with mischief. "And what is a better way to have some sister time then to go prank someone?" My smile returned and I laughed with her. "Yesssssss!" I prolonged the 'S' in excitement. "What is it? Do you have a plan?" She nodded and my joy increased rapidly.
"Well? Show me!" I got closer to her. "Calm down, I have it right here." She held the item up. I stared it down intently. "A cake?"
"Not just any cake. This special cake, had some light explosives in it. I have many for both of us to use. You just place one down," She plopped the cake on the stone floor. As she backed up, I got the impression to do the same. "And when your victim comes to eat it you just take this detonator and," A small metal cylinder with a red button on the top was suddenly in her hands. Her thumb pressed down, and the cake's contents were everywhere. It splattered so far, some of the frosting was on us, even though we were several feet away from it. Silence passed through us until we both burst out laughing.
"This is going to be so great! They'll never see it coming!" I exclaimed.
"I know right? The real question is, who do we use it on?" Sam's eyes laid on me, awaiting an answer. Thoughts flowed through my head. "Well, I don't feel like making an elaborate plan to break into the Conch Command just for cakes so that's a no. We just did the newbie so maybe someone else. Professor or Cody then! I don't know about you, but pranking that Gullible Guppy sounds really fun!" Sam giggled.
"It's a plan then!"
We parted ways, both heading inside our respective homes to grab supplies. Opening up the door, I passed the bear statue and dashed up the spiraling stairs. Once up there, I made a beeline for the armory. There was various kinds of armor, ranging from pink, purple to even glowstone. However, those were not needed for this prank so I dismissed them. Instead, I needed the pickax inside the case nailed to the wall. I opened it up, grabbed it, along with a shovel.
I almost grabbed ghost blocks as well before I realized it wasn't needed. Force of habit I guess.
My sister was already waiting outside for me.
"Got everything?" I nodded. "Pickaxe? Food?" Right then, I remembered that there was something I forgot. "Food! I didn't think about that!" I groaned and trotted back. "Wait!" Sam called out. "I have some, I can share." I paused, halfway to my door. "Really? What have you got?"
The green mermaid handed me some ice cream, making me smile. "Strawberry. Nice! I'll save this." I put it away before she spoke again. "Also, take some of these." She handed me some of the exploding cakes. "You'll need them." She winked with a smile. I returned it and together, we started to journey to the palace.
Unlike the Conch Command, getting into the palace of Atlantis was easier. After all, technically, we are Atlanteans. The guards watched us go past but did nothing to stop us from entering the large marble building, the heart of Atlantis itself. Honestly, the whole place was beautiful. There was carpet lining the floor and marble just about everywhere. There was an average sized hole in the middle of the floor, with pillars all around containing possibly the most important thing there and in all of Atlantis.
The Nexus. This was a every moving ball of most likely energy that helped everyone. It was suspended on chains, holding it in position. The color always seemed to be changing, never quite staying the same. This wonderful device helped us breath, speak the same language and even helped the water be free and not dense like it was in the Overworld. It was very important to say the least.
We passed by the golden throne and started to go down the stairs. One of the lead guards, Sharkco, stared us down. The blue shark's eyes narrowed at the sight of us, but still did nothing as we grinned innocently as possible before inching down and reaching the bottom.
"Do you think he suspects us?" I whispered to Sam. "Shh! He can hear you!" She hissed back as we kept going.
We finally made our way to Cody's room. I glanced around the area and to my liking, no one was there. "Nobody's home."
"How perfect."
Since his Birthday, Cody got a room upgrade. There were two parts, higher and lower. The higher part looked kinda like a old ship, made out of wood but it bore two large beds, a computer and table as well as some cabinets. Nearby his bed was a roller coaster, which lead down to the lower part. Also at the top was a slide, once again leading to the lower parts. The roller coaster lead to a bounce pit.
The lower part had some tables and double door fridges. Once again, many cabinets and chests for storage, though I doubt he placed anything in there. He also had a couple of cabinets.
"So," I started. "If Cody is gone then we can do whatever we want." Sam laughed. "Oh boy. This is going to be fun."
We placed cakes everywhere, mostly around the entrance. It took a while, but it was so worth it. Soon, we had used up all 64 cakes. Just in time too. As we finished up, Cody's voice was heard around the corner.
"Rasmus, don't worry about it! I'll take care of it. You just go rest, I mean I can see those bags under your eyes. You haven't had a proper sleep in weeks man! You aren't functioning properly."
A deeper voice responded. "If you are taking care of it, I suppose I could sleep. You aren't wrong about me not sleeping properly. I've been so caught up in work and stress, I haven't had much more than five hours a night. I'll go rest, but make sure to deal with the fish crisis. We need to find out what is making them disappear."
"Don't worry, don't worry. I have this all under control. I better get going. Sleep well Uncle! Stay frosty!"
My sister and I exchanged looks before hiding near the roller coaster. Still in view of the entrance but hard to see. It was perfect. The penguin came into view, walking at a moderate pace. "Man, Rasmus worries too much. He's going to lose his feathers if he doesn't sl-" His eyes locked onto the cakes. "What is that?"
The king of Atlantis stepped forward, eyes squinting before lighting up a bit. "Is that... Cake?" A slow smile crept onto his face. "Did someone place a bunch of cakes all over my room?" He came closer, inspecting one of the closest ones. I had to cover my mouth to keep from giggling. "Is this some sort of cake prank? This is probably one of the nicest pranks I've ever seen! Filling someone's room with cake."
He approached the largest group of cakes placed down and inspected them. Out of the corner of my eye, Sam's thumb rested on the red button of the controller. Any second now... Just as his flipper scooped up a cake, Sam and I ducked down, and she pushed the button.
A loud splat sound and a loud gasp filled the room. The wall near us suddenly was decorated with cake frosting and other contents.
Both of us peeked up to see the damage done.
More than half of his room had bits of cake all over. The once marble walls now dripped with the sweet frosting covering it. As for the king himself, he was pretty much fully covered in it. One thick part dropped off his face when he moved it. Almost simultaneously, we burst out laughing. Alarmed by the sudden sound, Cody spotted us.
"Of course it was you two! Aww man," The black and white being whipped off some of the parts on his face. "Why couldn't there be nothing else but just a bunch of cakes? Why is there always a twist to these things?" He sighed and angrily looked at us.
"I cannot believe you two! My whole room is messed up now!"
"Come on Cody! We got you good!"
"That was so hilarious! You really are a gullible guppy!"
His face turned more red at the mention of his nickname. "Hey! I thought I told you to never call me that!" I giggled. "It's payback for that salami nickname you gave me." I hissed at him. "Anyways, I think it's time for us to go, wouldn't you say so Selena?" I agreed and we sped out of the room as fast as we could. I could hear Cody yell at us as we did.
"Hey! Get back here and clean this up!"
We laughed. "Not a chance!"
