Cody

After many battles and a hard fought war, we finally got the idea of hiring a war medic to come into battle with us. It was the Professor's idea really. "Hey Cody." He started one day when I visited about the weapons. "We should get a healer." The scientist suggested. My eyebrow raised before I asked the questions.

"A healer? Don't we already have some of those? I even help out at the hospital from time to time." I had inquired. "Yes, a healer but a different kind. Mainly a War Doctor. Someone to make sure we take less damage in battles, or someone who can make us last longer in battles by tending to our wounds. That sort of thing." To be honest, the thought never crossed my mind. "Someone to heal during battle... That is a good idea..." I mused thinking about all of the battles we had gone through without someone to protect us. To think, with someone like that, we could lose less soldiers.

"Sounds like a great idea to me! I'll ask Rasmus about it!"

Later that day, I told him about it and he agreed. Before I knew it, he hired someone and they were already moving to Atlantis. To think, all this started off with one little suggestion.

"Cody!" Called the voice I knew all too well. "Professor! What are you doing here?" I asked him as he approached. "Well, you know. The new person is here? I thought I better visit them don't you think? " I froze. "Wait that was today?" He nodded slowly, chuckling. "Crap! I had no idea! Hold on, let me get some stuff, be there in a minute." I dashed to my room and collected some food and my spear before we set off.

When I was done, we headed out to meet them. We swam through the city, looking for a house that wasn't there before, passing several Atlanteans on the way there. I waved to some of them, normally getting one back. "So, what are they like?" I tried to ask him but he had no idea either. "You know nothing about them?" I tilted my head. "Well... I know they're a healer! Plus I wasn't the one to hire them. Rasmus did that." He pointed out as we arrived at the house.

The house was made up of the regular marble that all the other houses were made of except it was slightly bigger and seemed to have more red than any other color. Most of the other houses had a common theme of blue. The entrance had double doors with a window on each side. However, shades prevented me from peeking inside. Pikalis and I exchanged looks before I knocked on the door.

"Hold on!" A feminine voice called from inside. I gave the professor a look that said "That solves one mystery" and returned my gaze to the door right before it opened.

The new medic was clearly a hybrid of two animals; Human and Serpent. The top half of her was clearly a human female while the bottom half had a snake tail that trailed behind her. Her hair was long, wavy and a brown and blonde color, flowing behind her freely. The blue eyes pierced mine and seemed to study the both of us. The female wore a red flowing shirt that covered her human top half and even reached down to the snake half.

The snake half was pretty long, three feet maybe? It was hard to tell. It consisted of three colors: Black, red and yellow. They were in large horizontal stripes, black and red never touching, being blocked by yellow. There would be a long stripe of black, a thin one of yellow and then one of red, another thin of yellow and then it repeated all the way down to the tip of the tail.

It took a minute before I blurted out, "Are you the war medic?"

Eyes still examining us, she nodded. Her face changed from confused to a little more relaxed. "Hi. I'm the King, Cody Maverick and this is Professor Pikalus. I think you'll be working with us. A lot." Her face changed to a much more cheerful one. Something sparked in her eye at the mention of my name.

"Oh! Rasmus told me about you two! I'm Tanith and I'll be your doctor! Come in, come in!" She ushered the two of us in her house, closing the door behind us and started to lead the way.

Her house seemed pretty standard for Atlantis as for stuff but there were somethings that were not always found in other houses. There were some boxes but that was understandable. She had just moved in after all.

From what I could see, her layout when something like this. Entering her house, there was the living room to the left and stairs a little further on the right, most likely leading up to the bedroom. Going forward and to the left would take you to the kitchen, which was viable. There was normal kitchen stuff, double door fridge, oven, microwave and cupboards with an island in the middle. A closet was nearby the kitchen and even more to the left was an empty area as well as a balcony. There were one long couch as well as two arm chairs across from it, a coffee table in between them. A TV was getting set up against the wall.

Some books were lying around, some fictional and others about medicine, potions and more useful things to know for a doctor such as herself. What appeared to be knitting needles were on the couch as well as some shiny gem looking rocks in a box and seashells in the other. A makeshift garden was starting to be built as well. In the corner were two thin looking swords.

Tanith gestured us to the couch and then made her way over to the kitchen, which was right nearby. Unsure of what else to do, I sat down, the Professor doing the same. "Would you two like some cookies?" The hybrid hollered from inside the kitchen. "Yeah, that would be great!" I answered back with Pikalus giving a similar answer. Before I knew it, she came back, cookies in hand. "One for you," The medic gave one to me. "And one for you!" Then gave the other to my friend.

"So, I'll be working with you two?" She questioned before sitting down in a chair across from us. "Yeah, you should be at least." I just nodded along with the Professor, taking a couple bites out of the treat. "Sounds good to me!" She smiled and started to bite into her own cookie. "So you're a hybrid?" I asked, then got a quick hit from the Professor after. "Hey!" I protested ducking away from his hand.

"Cody! That's rude! Didn't anyone teach you some manners?"

Tanith however, just laughed a bit. "No, no! It's fine really! Everyone always asks about it by about the second or third question. And yes," She answered me. "I am a hybrid. Half snake, half human. We have many names. Lamia, Nu Wa, Naga. The list goes on! But before you go looking up any of those mythical creatures, you ought to know, no, I don't eat children or humans or anything like that." She winked at us and finished the rest of the treat.

"Really? Huh. That's pretty cool." I nodded along with the story. "Well, not as cool as being a King! Or a Professor!" She nodded at both of us. "What's that like anyways?"

We talked for a while, where we learned a couple of things. Tanith had told us about how she was living on her own before she came here and she traveled around before settling down for a while. Before I could ask more, Pikalus pointed out the time and we had to go. "See you later Tanith!" I waved as we left. "Goodbye! Call me if you need me!" She hollered back and closed the door.

"So, what do you think?" The mad scientist nudged me. "She's pretty cool. Little weird with some of the comments but I think I've gotten past it." He agreed. "Yeah. I've seen some WEIRD things. Like, for example, talking glitched monsters. That was an interesting turn of events for sure." He chuckled enough for me to join in.

"Yeah. The Realm Of Atlantis just got a whole lot bigger."

And this concludes the first chapter. Thank you for reading! If you liked this, you have the option of following me, which is your choice, and commenting, which is very much appreciated. If you thought I could have done a part better, just leave a comment and I'll try and fix it. Tell me what you think too! I expect this to be a long story so if you liked it, buckle up. It's gonna be a heck of a ride. The next chapter should be soon. This might seem a little dull but it should get pretty interesting so be sure to stick around.

Also, in case you were wondering, the picture is to tell you the patterns of Tanith's snake half. If you didn't quite get what I was saying, I provided that for reference.

Good bye!
