Chapter {(25)} Us

Percy glared at Annabeth, who grinned slyly. Percy wondered how he could have possibly lost so bad.

Flashback S

Annabeth frowned, "I guess we'll have to make a bet then."

Percy's eyes widened,"I really don't think that's necessary-"

"You think I can't beat you at Bananagrams, therefore, I'm making a bet with you. What are your terms?"

Without letting him answer, she went on,"I think if I win... You have to dye your hair silver!"

Percy secretly thought this was awesome, until. . .

"With pink highlights! And just to make it better, I'll get you a rainbow shirt!"

Percy raised his eyebrows,"Uh-well- actually. . ."

"What do you get if you win?" Annabeth ignored him.

"Uh. . . You have to play dumb for a day."

Annabeth's jaw dropped,"I better win this," she grumbled.

Flashback X

Annabeth looked at the hair dye, slipping on her plastic gloves. Percy bit his lip as she opened the box, pulling out a tin-ish packet. She opened it and grinned at Percy.

"Look down," she snickered.

Percy muttered something and looked down as his lap. A chill ran down his back as Annabeth put the hair dye in his hair.

"You doing okay, Perce?" Annabeth asked, noticing how quiet he was.

"Sort of. You're hurting my head, though,"

"Sorry," Annabeth laughed, scrubbing the dye in with her plastic-gloved-hands.

"My scalp is like. . . Dead,"

Annabeth laughed and yanked off her gloves. "Wait a few and then you can go take a shower," Annabeth told him, washing her hands.

"MKAY," Percy said loudly.

Annabeth raised her eyebrows and dried her hands, throwing the towel at Percy's face.

"Want a snack?" She asked.

"Sure, but make it blue," Percy grinned.

Annabeth smiled at him and opened the fridge, tossing him a leftover cookie from the counter.

"Annabeth?" Percy asked quietly.

"Hmm?" Annabeth said, turning around.

"What are we?"

There was a silence.

"Depends what you want to be," Annabeth said, after taking a breath.

Percy watched her as she closed the fridge slowly. She looked at him silently, "Go take a shower,"

Percy bit his lip and left the room without another word.

~

Annabeth sat down cross-legged on the couch, replaying the conversation in her head constantly.

Percy came out of the bathroom with silvery white hair, an odd look on his face.

Percy looked around Annabeth's place. "I think I should go," he said quietly, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"Percy," Annabeth frowned.

"Mmm?" Percy mumbled, slipping into his coat.

"Come here," she demanded.

Percy looked at her wearily, before walking over and plopping down on the couch next to her.

Annabeth hesitated. Percy narrowed his eyes, shaking his now silver hair out of his face.

Annabeth grabbed his face, crashing her lips onto his.

Percy froze for a moment before kissing back. Annabeth locked her fingers in his hair pulling him closer. Percy rested his hands on her hips, allowing her to push him flat on the couch so his head was on the soft armrest.

Little did they know, the longer they kissed, the farther Sally Jackson drifted away from life.
