Chapter {(20)} Dance

It's skipping to the dance, because I don't see why you would want a bunch of filler chapters. So onwardsss AND WHAAALLEESSSS -_-

Annabeth looked at Lacey, who looked nervous.

"Do you promise you won't tell Drew?" Lacey whimpered.

"I promise. I just need a pro to do my makeup." Annabeth smiled.

Lacey sighed, "Okay, sit."

Annabeth obliged, sitting on her couch while Lacey pulled up a stool. Lacey unzipped her makeup bag, digging out lots of... things.

"Close your eyes," Lacey said quietly.

Annabeth did as she was told, feeling pressure on her eyelids. Annabeth wiggled her toes impatiently, her ADHD ticking her off.

After about an hour of doing her makeup, Lacey said, "Done!"

Annabeth got up slowly, tucking loose strand of hair behind her ear. She looked gorgeous. Now, Annabeth wasn't usually the type of girl to be super prideful of her looks, but she could make an exception.

Silver eyeshadow brought out her eyes, while the sparkly mascara made them pop. A peachy lipstick made her lips shine and  the blusher on her cheeks wasn't exactly colored, but made her skin look smooth.

"Now for the hair, yes?" Lacey grinned, seemingly less stiff than when she was near Drew.

Annabeth smiled, "Yeah."

~

Annabeth blinked, staring at her reflection. "Well then."

Lacey grinned, "My specialty. I do it for Drew every morning,"

"I look amazing, thanks to you." Annabeth smiled.

"I'm quite proud," Lacey laughed.

"Good. Now you have to go get yourself ready!"

"Oh! Yeah, right. I'll see you there, Annabeth."

"Bye, Lacey." Annabeth winked at her and she hurried out of the house.

Annabeth quickly got dressed, careful not to mess up her hair and makeup, and slipped on her shoes. She glanced at the clock, hoping Lacey had time to get ready.

7:02.

That meant Percy would be there in about half and hour. And she was ready to go.

~

Percy exhaled heavily before climbing out of his car. He stared up at Annabeth's house for a while. He shook his head and padded up to the porch, knocking on the door nervously.

When Annabeth opened the door, Percy froze.

"Holy-"

"Language, Jackson." Annabeth smirked.

Percy blinked, "Uh...."

"Let's go," Annabeth laughed, rolling her eyes.

Percy nodded numbly and walked with Annabeth down to the car, watching her as she carefully picked up her skirt (That's actually what it's called, you grammar turds) so it didn't get wet. Percy opened the door for her and she smiled at him, climbing into the car.

Percy walked around the car, climbing into the driver's seat and turning on the car.

"You look-" Percy started.

"Amazing. I know," Annabeth smiled smugly.

"I wasn't going to amazing, but yeah." Percy said, blushing.

"Well, you look handsome in your little tux." Annabeth teased.

Percy's face became even more red, "Leave me aloneeeee." he whined.

"I could just walk away at the dance and-"

"No!" Percy said quickly.

Annabeth grinned, "That's what I thought."

~

The dance was what you could call... chaotic. Everyone was laughing everywhere, and the Stoll's were walking away from the punch, grinning smugly. That couldn't be good.

Percy looked around and waved at someone. A boy about Percy's age ran over, his curly red hair in knots.

"You know, I would've thought you would brush your hair for Juniper." Percy said, grinning.

"Well-"

"Grover!" a girl with red hair ran over, messing with a bracelet on her left wrist.

"I should go!" the boy, Grover, said quickly. He turned to the girl and they walked away, Juniper trying to get the knots out of his hair and him squirming.

"That was..." Annabeth started.

"Very weird." Percy finished, looking down.

"Are you okay, Percy?" Annabeth asked, forcing him to look up.

"No." he said miserably.

"What's going on, Seaweed Brain?"

"Bianca was so sweet, Annabeth." Percy said quietly.

Annabeth frowned, "That means she's in an amazing place now."

Percy frowned, "You should have seen Nico last night."

Annabeth bit her lip, "I know how hard it is. Let's go get your mind off of this, okay?"

Percy nodded and Annabeth grabbed his hand, dragging him over to Britt.

"Hey guys!" Britt greeted, tucking a strand of brown hair behind her ear.

"You look amazing, Britt!" Annabeth exclaimed, taking in her friends 'ballgown'.

"It was super expensive!" Britt cried, playing with the tulle.

"It looks amazing on you, though. I say it was worth it!" Annabeth grinned.

"You look amazing as well, Annie- Annabeth." Britt corrected herself.

"All thanks to Lacey, but don't tell Drew." Annabeth giggled.

Percy raised his eyebrows and looked between the two girls, "Oh! Right! Britt, have you officially met Percy yet?" Annabeth asked her excitedly.

Percy blinked, "No, actually I haven't." Britt said, grinning.

"Well, Britt, meet Percy Jackson. Percy meet Britt Tompson." Annabeth introduced.

They waved awkwardly and Percy looked at Annabeth expectantly.

"What?" she asked.

"Shall we go dance?" he asked cockily.

Annabeth rolled her eyes, but nodded. "We shall."

~

"Percy! You almost stepped on my foot!" Annabeth complained.

"I'm sorry!" Percy whined.

Annabeth huffed and stepped away from Percy, who pouted. "I will not dance with you unless you promise to be a better dancer!"

"You stepped on my feet six times!" Percy defended.

Annabeth bit her lip, "I will dance with you for the slow song and the slow song only." she crossed her arms.

Percy sighed, "Fine. But you have to go get me a snack. Preferably blue."

Annabeth rolled her eyes, "Fine."

Annabeth pushed him away and he smirked, watching her as she walked over to the snack tables. Britt was standing there with her date, getting refill on top of refill of punch. Annabeth rolled her eyes (again) and scanned the table for a blue treat.

She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around slowly.

"Hello, Mark." Annabeth ground out.

"Hey, Chase. May I have this dance?" he had a challenging look on his face.

Annabeth bit her lip, looking back to where Percy was talking to one of his friends. "One dance, understand?"

Matt nodded solemnly, "One dance."

~

Annabeth gritted her teeth as Matt's hand landed on her waist. She looked for Percy in the crowd, but didn't see him anywhere. She frowned and look back at Matt, making a disgusted face. She forced herself to put on of her hands in his, and put the other on his shoulder.

The least... cruel.... way to to explain the dance, was deeming it stiff. As soon as the song was over, Annabeth pulled away from Matt. He frowned but let her go, knowing that he had made a promise to only force her into one dance.

Annabeth brushed past multiple people, still looking for Percy. She spotted him frowning and sitting on the bleachers, staring at one of the steps.

Annabeth hurried over to him and sat down next by his side.

"You okay?" she asked nervously.

"You didn't come back," Percy muttered.

"Matt got in my way. Sorry," Annabeth muttered apologetically.

Percy lifted his head, smiling smugly. "You owe me a slow dance."

Annabeth smiled and grabbed his hand, allowing him to drag her to the middle of the dance floor.
