Chapter {(2)} Essays
Annabeth hurried down the hall, toward the girls locker room. She had just hurt a majorly innocent boy, also know as Percy Jackson.
*FlashBack*
"Hey, Annie," Annabeth turned to see Percy. They stood in the middle of the hallway.
"Hey, kid." she growled.
Percy raised his eyebrows, "Why the attitude?"
"What attitude?" Annabeth snarled.
A look of realization dawned on Percy, "You're one of those girls who isn't-"
"Shut up," Annabeth snapped.
Percy went silent for a moment, "I-"
"Listen, new kid. I don't hang around people like... well, you. So get your disgusting... whatever, away from me." Annabeth hissed.
Percy opened to his mouth to say something, but closed it just as quickly, biting his lip. "Yeah, okay. Bye bitch."
*FlashBack Over*
And that's how the great Annabeth Chase, hurt him. She didn't necessarily mean to, she just had to make sure nobody thought she was friends with the new kid. That's not terrible, right?
Wrong.
It was cruel. Just because he's the new kid doesn't mean he's bad. Annabeth understood just how he felt. She had been bullied when she was the new kid.... and look where she was now! It didn't necessarily mean she liked being popular or being the mean kid, it was more of a protection thing.
Annabeth hurried into the bathroom and made sure nobody was in there with her. She locked herself in a stall, putting her head in her hands (A/N at first I typed hands in her head. Oops). Annabeth thought about everything that had happened recently.
Luke trying to get her in bed.
Her refusing.
Him becoming abusive.
No escape.
Stuck at the house with him.
Annabeth didn't notice the tears until she heard a sob. Her head snapped up, thinking someone else was on the bathroom as well. And then she realized the sob had come from her, and let the sobs rack her body.
~
Percy walked past the bathroom, but stopped short. The sobs were muffled, but they were definitely there. Unfortunately, they were in the girls bathroom. He looked around, shaking his head miserably.
Percy hated himself for what he was about to do, but he did it anyways.
He went into the girls bathroom to investigate.
~
Annabeth's head snapped open as she heard the bathroom door open. She hadn't thought that anyone would be coming to the bathroom, judging that it was the middle of fifth period.
Annabeth pushed the stall door open hurriedly, quickly realizing it was just Percy.
Wait. Percy is in the girls bathroom.
Annabeth snickered but quickly regained her composure. Percy raised his eyebrows and she cocked her head.
"What are you looking at, punk?" Annabeth hissed.
"You," Percy said plainly.
It took all she had not to blush, "And why is that?"
"I thought that was obvious,"
"It's quite obviously not. Why would I be asking you if-"
"Okay, Wise Girl."
"Wise Girl?"
"Yep. You're 'quite obviously' not as stupid as you let on. Why would you lie about that kind of stuff?" Percy asked.
Annabeth sighed, "If it was any of your business, I would tell you. Nevermind, no I wouldn't."
Percy put a hand on his heart mockingly, "Your words hurt me, Chase."
Annabeth rolled her eyes, "Get a life."
"I'd prefer not to."
Annabeth raised her eyebrows, "So, you like being a lifeless ass?"
Percy shrugged, "Pretty much. Asses are the best types of donkeys."
Annabeth had to resist the urge to facepalm, "It's almost sixth period, Percy."
"Your point?"
"We have to go to class, duh." Annabeth said, pointedly glaring at him.
"Britt says you have free period."
Annabeth scoffed, "You got Britt all over you now?"
Percy snorted, "I wish." he muttered.
"What was that?" Annabeth smirked.
Percy blushed, "Nothing."
"Sure, now go to your next class. Or at least get out of the girls bathroom so you don't get walked in on by a bunch of girls."
Percy's eyes widened, "Yep. Getting out of the girls bathroom."
Annabeth rolled her eyes, "Remember to call me, Percy."
Percy looked at her skeptically, then nodded slowly, "Bye, Wise Girl."
~
Annabeth stared at the chalkboard blankly, confused about the onomatopoeia. Guess that happens when you play dumb for three years in a row.
Her mind drifted to Percy. His annoying smirk. The twinkle in his eye when he caught her crying.
Annabeth felt a jab in her ribs, "Ow!" she yelped.
Britt smirked, "Daydreaming?"
"What?" Annabeth stared at Britt.
"Never mind, Annie."
"Don't call me Annie."
"I've always called you-"
"I don't care." Annabeth snapped.
"Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase." the teacher said.
"Wait, what?" Annabeth asked.
"You two will be doing an essay together." Mrs. Clark said as though it were the most obvious thing.
"On what, exactly?" Percy piped up.
"Each other."
Percy and Annabeth began complaining about be partnered up, until the teacher said, "First pair to get it done gets a week free of math homework."
That shut them up quick.
~
Annabeth stared at her Instagram feed as she walked out of the English teachers room.
"Annabeth!" the blonde turned towards the familiar voice.
"Hey, Percy." she said shortly.
"You're definitely more talkative when we don't have an audience," he gestured to the group of people who were watching Annabeth with awe.
She rolled her eyes, "I don't like being seen with a tramp such as you."
Percy made a face, "Ouch. You can make up some very creative and hurtful insults, Wise Girl."
Annabeth rolled her eyes again.
"You're going to get dizzy, Wise Girl." Percy smirked.
"What do you want?" Annabeth growled.
"For the essay, I was wondering if you wanted to come to my apartment-"
"Fine. Tonight at six. No earlier. I will only stay until seven thirty, eight at the latest. You will not speak of this to anyone."
"Why are you so secretive?" Percy pried.
"I'll see you at six, Percy."
