Chapter {(18)} Invitation
Annabeth leaned against Percy's locker, glaring at her friends, who were shooting her disgusted looks. Percy approached her, scowling.
"Still upset?" she asked, hugging him.
"She played me." he muttered.
When they pulled away, Annabeth smiled. "Yeah, but she doesn't matter, does she?"
Percy shook his head, "Not anymore."
Annabeth smiled at him again, pulling her hair into a ponytail. "You wanna skip last period?"
Percy grinned, "I thought you would never ask."
Annabeth dragged him out the door, laughing as he tripped over other people's feet.
~
Annabeth led Percy to her favorite spot ever: the little bridge that made it's way across a small river; probably one of the smaller streams from the East River, which wasn't too far from there.
She pulled off her shoes, tossing them in the water. Percy watched her, surprised he wasn't creeping her out. She sat down on the edge of the bridge, dangling her feet down so they almost touched the water.
Percy eventually sat down next to her. Like, right next to her. Annabeth looked over at him, realizing he was staring at the water. She leaned her head on his shoulder, causing him to stiffen. Annabeth pulled away, biting her lip.
Percy looked over at her, frowning. He stayed silent for a while. "Why did you move?"
Annabeth looked back at him, "Because I felt like it."
Percy raised his eyebrows, "You sure like getting what you want,"
Annabeth smiled broadly, "Especially if it displeases others."
Percy rolled his eyes, "Of course."
Annabeth leaned her head on his shoulder, and Percy didn't stiffen this time. He wrapped an arm around her and she moved closer, wrapping her arms around him and closing her eyes.
~
Annabeth woke up in the passenger seat of Percy's car, trees flying by outside the window. She sat up groggily, brushing a few stray hairs out of her face.
Percy loooked over at her, "Hey, Sleepyhead."
"Leave me alone," Annabeth grumbled, causing Percy to grin.
"You want to go back to your house, or hang at mine for a while?" he asked, tapping the steering wheel.
"Your place. I'm having a little... drama, back at mine." Annabeth said, hesitating.
Percy smiled at her, "Okay, Wise Girl."
~
Upon arrival at the Jackson's, Sally exited the kitchen. As soon as she saw them standing there, together, she ran over to them, squeezing the breath out of them.
"Hello to you too, mom." Percy said slowly.
Annabeth shook her head, elbowing him. "It's nice to see you. Again. Today."
Sally chuckled, "Where's Camila?"
Percy and Annabeth looked at each other, shifting uncomfortably.
"Well...."
~ LINE BREAK BECAUSE IM TOO LAZY TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHINGGGG
Annabeth groaned and kicked the couch in frustration.
"It's not the couches fault, Annabeth." Percy grinned.
Annabeth glared at him, "Yes it is."
"How is the couches fault that you didn't aim to sit down in the right spot?" Percy laughed.
"Shut up!"
"I don't want to."
"Well, you're going to."
"Why would I?"
"Because I said so."
"Since when do I listen to you?"
"Since..." Annabed looked around the room, "Since I know your Instagram login and can post absolutely anything I want to."
Percy's eyes widened, "I'm shutting up."
"Yeah, you wouldn't want to lose those seventy-two thousand followers."
"How do you know-"
Annabeth shot him a warning look, "I know your login and you're still talking."
Percy muttered something and crossed his arms, falling backwards onto the couch, legs handing over the arms. Annabeth sat down next to him, only to be pulled down into a laying position.
"Percy!" Annabeth comaplained.
"Yes?" he asked innocently.
"Let me go!"
"Never."
"Percy-"
"I'm not letting you get away from me. Never again." (DON'T HATE MEEEEE)
"Percy, I swear-"
"I'm not letting go."
"Percy-"
"Stop squirming."
"I don't want to!"
"At least stop elbowing me!"
"Never." Annabeth said smugly.
"You little-"
"Language, Percy."
"Shut up!"
"Never." Annabeth taunted.
"You're such a turd!"
"Goals."
"Oh my gods, Annabeth. No guy wants to be elbowed there!"
Annabeth's face went bright red, "Oops."
~
Percy crossed his arms, dripping wet. "That's just unfair."
"You tickled me! I had to run, and a cup of water was my best option!" Annabeth defended.
"That was not 'a cup of water', that was like, a bucket!" Percy whined.
"Stop whining, you little baby."
"You know it pleases you."
"That's what she said." Annabeth said innocently while Percy blinked.
"I did not see that coming." he admitted.
"Good." Annabeth grinned broadly.
"Time for pie!" Percy yelled.
"Let me guess; blueberry."
Percy grinned, "You know me so well."
~
Annabeth watched as Percy pulled the pie out of the oven, rolling her eyes. The crust was blue as well.
"How did you even manage that?" she asked impatiently.
"Magic." Percy responded.
Annabeth rolled her eyes and got a knife, "I call the least doughy part of the pie, because if it's doughy I might throw up, and that's a waste of pie."
Percy grinned, "That's plenty fair."
Annabeth cut herself a slice, leaving Percy to cut the rest. She plopped it on a plate and grabbed a fork, unaware of Percy's eyes on her. She entered the T.V room and sat down on the couch, waiting for Percy.
She grabbed the T.V remote and clicked the power button, opening Netflix.
"Percy! Psych or Friends?" she called.
"Psych, definitely!" Percy yelled back.
"You haven't even started this yet-"
"Yes, I have, Wise Girl." he said, sitting down next to her.
"Then why are you on Episode One?"
"Because I'm going to re-watch it, Smarty Pants."
"Oh." Annabeth frowned.
Percy took the remote and pressed play, digging into his pie and glancing at Annabeth every once and a while.
Suddenly, the T.V shut off and Annabeth looked at Percy quizzically. He smiled nervously.
"Percy-"
"Wise Girl, will you go to the dance with me?"
