Chapter {(15)} Calls
Percy glanced over at Camila, who had come over to work on their Science project. Her silvery hair was pulled into a ponytail, her bangs covered half of her blue eyes. She was wearing a black sweatshirt now, covering her fishnet shirt.
She was leaning down against the coffee table, her legs crossed underneath her on the couch. Camila used one of her hands to hold her bangs out of her face as she jotted down notes from her laptop, which sat next to the paper on the table.
"You gonna help or not?" Camila asked, nudging him.
"I'm-um- I'm dyslexic so I kind of can't read-"
"Okay," she sighed.
Percy leaned back and crossed his legs, feet resting on the coffee table. Camila dropped the pencil and threw her arms up happily, a look of triumph on her face.
"Done with the notes! Now it's time for the actual experiment," she grinned.
Percy stood up quickly, "Wait- what's the experiment?"
Camila rolled her eyes, "I swear your brain is full of seaweed-"
"What's the experiment?" Percy cut her off, thoughts drifting to Annabeth.
Camila frowned, "Unfortunately, we need a volcano. Not life sized of course-"
"Let's go explode a volcano," Percy grinned.
~
After approximately three hours of having to make a volcano of hot glue, paper, a peice of cardboard plank thing, and an easter basket, Percy and Camila finally had their project halfway done, and they were standing on the roof.
"Do you have any Pepsi?" Camila asked.
"Uh, why?"
"And possibly some mentos?"
"Oh- yeah! I'll be right back," Percy ran back down to his apartment, grabbing the soda and digging through the drawers for the pack of mentos.
Camila grinned and set the volcano down on the gravel. She grabbed the Pepsi out of his hands slowly poured it into the volcano.
"I hope it doesn't leak," she muttered.
As Pepsi slowly started leaking out the bottom, she rolled her eyes and grabbed mentos out of his hand, dumping them into the volcano. She grabbed his wrist and pulled him away as the mentos exploded in the carbonation. Pepsi flew everywhere, getting Percy wet even though he was at least 5 feet away.
"Well," Camila stated, "That went well."
Percy looked at the splattered remains of the volcano, "Sure, keep thinking that."
Camila rolled her eyes and started picking up the shredded and soaked paper. Percy joined her and flicked a piece of Pepsi soaked paper at her face. It stuck on her forehead, and she scowled.
She squished a glob of paper into a ball and chucked it at him, peeling the paper off of her face. Percy yelped as it nailed him in the eye. Camila grinned and continued to chuck paper balls at him, laughing. Percy laughed and ran around her, sticking pieces of paper to her back as he moved.
Camila shook her head, still laughing. A huge glob of paper hit Percy's forehead, causing him to stumble. He yelped, again, as he tripped over a rock, falling right onto his back in the gravel.
"Ow,"
Camila kneeled down next to him, "You okay?"
"Yeah, but my advice: Don't fall on gravel," he laughed.
"I wasn't planning on it, Percy." she grinned.
She helped him up and they were nose to nose. They both blushed and took a step back. Percy's phone went off and he jumped, pulling it out of his pocket.
"Hello?..... Hey, Annabeth...... Tomorrow?...... Eighty?..... Sounds fun..... See you then...... Bye, Wise Girl."
Percy hung up and stuffed his phone back into his pocket, "What?" he asked, looking at Camila.
Camila scowled, "Nothing."
Percy looked her over, causing her to blush again. "Okay. It's really late, we should get you home."
Camila looked at her phone.
10:42. And yes, PM.
"Uh, yeah. You driving me?" Camila asked.
"Well, you don't have any other way of getting home." Percy sighed.
~
"No! There's no way that's what the lyric is-" Camila started.
"It is! Look it up!" Percy laughed.
She huffed and pulled out her phone, opening Safari.
"Oh. My. God. It is!" Camila cried, blushing.
"I told you! The song is literally called Cake By The Ocean." Percy grinned.
"That's so gross," Camila muttered.
"Here we are. Shall I walk you to the door?" he shot her a quick glance.
"That would be absolutely wonderful, Mr. Jackson." she said, climbing out of the car.
Percy was following after her, shoving his hands in his pockets. Camila pulled her key from her pocket and unlocked the door, but before she did, she turned to Percy.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" she asked, kicking the edges of the 'Welcome Home' mat.
"Uh, yeah."
They stood in silence.
"I should go-" Percy started, but Camila cut him off.
With her lips. (I wanted to say 'with her face' so much x3).
~
Annabeth stared up at her ceiling, which was decorated with glow in the dark painted stars. All of the constellations were named next to their constellation, creating the night sky of August on Annabeth's ceiling.
Her phone suddenly rang. She picked it up from her nightstand, pressing the 'accept call' button.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Annabeth.... It's Percy." he sounded out of breath.
"Why are you calling me...?" Annabeth asked cautiously.
"What would you say if I told you me and Camila just kissed... for like... five minutes?"
"I would probably scream at you if you were standing in front of me."
"That's fair."
"What were you thinking, Percy?" Annabeth's voice was almost at a yell.
"Well, technically-"
"Percy-"
"-she kissed me-"
"I'm going to kill her-"
"-and I kissed her back... maybe."
"I'm hanging up, Percy."
Ignoring his protests, Annabeth ended the call. She leaned back in her bed, pulling the blankets over her face. Her phone once again rested on her nightstand, text alarms popping up every few seconds. Annabeth finally snapped and blocked his number, tossing her phone back on the nightstand wearily.
