Annabeth watched Percy and Thalia whispering to each other. She looked away as she saw Percy glance at her. Thalia frowned and shook her head.

Annabeth stared at the table, setting down her menu. She kicked Percy in the shin and he yelped.

"Whatcha talkin' bout, Seaweed Brain?"

Percy's face went balnk, "Nothing."

Thalia looked down. They were definitely hiding something, and I knew Percy expected to be in trouble for it.

"What are you guys-" Thalia kicked her under the table.

A waitress walked over, seemingly taking too much interest in Percy, who shifted uncomfortably. Annabeth smirked.

"Hello, I'm Tanya, I'll be your server. Can I get you started with anything?" she asked politely.

"Um, I'll have some coke." Percy said.

Thalia was less polite, "Chocolate milkshake, and if it's got even a single sprinkle-" it was Annabeth's turn to kick her.

Thalia frowned but let Annabeth order her drink, "I'll have a sprite."

Tanya smiled, "I'll be right back with that."

After leaving the restaurant, Percy and Thalia seemed a lot more relaxed. They were laughing and shoving each other into random people along the street, and snickering every time. Annabeth stayed a good distance away to avoid run into.

Percy grinned at Thalia and shoved her into a kid walking out of an alley. The kid looked about fifteen, and he was extremely skinny and pale.

Percy and Thalia both laughed, and Thalia hugged the kid.

Percy gestured for Annabeth to come closer, "Annabeth, this is my other, and weirder, cousin, Nico di Angelo."

"Hi, Nico." Annabeth said uncomfortably, confused about why they were so casual about him coming from the alley.

Nico frowned but didn't say anything.

Percy cocked his head, "Care to explain why you were hanging in the alleys again?"

Nico shifted, "Running from Will again."

As if on cue, another boy, sixteen probably, jumped on Nico's back. Nico stumbled forward but Percy balanced him.

"Solace! Get off!" Nico yelled.

"Never, Death Breath!" Will exclaimed.

Nico just shrugged and Will's grip slipped. He hit the cement with a thud.

Nico's eyes widened, "Sorry!"

Will grinned smugly, "So you do care." he said triumphantly.

Nico rolled his eyes and Percy and Thalia helped Will up.

"Oh, Will, this is Annabeth." the two blondes studied each other wearily.

Percy raised his eyebrows, "This is not the response I was expecting."

Thalia smirked, "You gotta give it-"

"Solace!" Annabeth cried happily.

"Hey, Chase." Will grinned.

Percy looked between them, "You guys know each other?"

"Uh, yeah. We met at a summer camp," Will smiled.

"We were both councilors," Annabeth added.

"Huh..." Thalia muttered, "Would've been nice to know if you knew Jackson's wife."

"We're not married!" Annabeth and Percy both yelled.

"But you didn't deny you were dating!" Thalia yelled triumphantly.

"We're not dating." Percy said boredly.

Thalia crossed her arms, "You're always ruining my fun."

"Yeah. Because it's not fun for anyone else," Will smirked.

Thalia huffed.

When Percy dropped Annabeth off at her house, Thalia gave hugged her.

"You have my number, right, Annie?" she asked, frowning.

"Don't call me Annie, and yes." Annabeth grinned.

"I have to pee. Can I use your bathroom?" Thalia gave her puppy dog eyes.

"Sure, go ahead. I have to talk to Percy alone anyways. It's down the hall, last door to the left."

"Thanks, Annie- I mean..."

"Just go, Thalia." Annabeth laughed.

Thalia hopped out of the car and scurried off. Annabeth turned back to Percy. He raised his eyebrows, "What's up, Wise Girl?"

"What were you guys talking about in the restaurant?" Annabeth asked softly.

Percy's face hardened, "I told you it was nothing, Annabeth."

"It obviously wasn't!" Annabeth persisted.

"It doesn't matter, Annabeth."

"Yes, it does! For all I know you could have a meth lab!" Annabeth immediately regretted what she said, looking at Percy's hurt face. "Oh gods! Percy-"

"Just go get Thalia." he snapped.

Annabeth climbed out of the car, pulling her hood over her head, blocking out the rain.

As soon as Annabeth was inside the house, Percy punched the steering wheel. The car let out a loud, long beep as he leaned back in his seat. He ran his hands down his face, blowing out through his lips.

Thalia exited the house, a confused look on her face. She hurried to the car, trying to avoid the rain. She climbed in the passenger seat, where Annabeth had been a moment before.

"What happened?" Thalia squinted.

Percy ran a hand through his hair, "Not much. She just yelled at me 'cause it was possible I have a meth lab somewhere."

Thalia winced, "That had to sting."

"I didn't notice." Percy growled as he pulled out of Annabeth's driveway.

Annabeth ran straight up to her after Thalia left. She slammed her door and fell face first onto her bed, burying her face in her pillow. She just had to say that. She just had to.

She knew it was a terrible thing to say, and she knew Percy was probably doing the same thing she was; moping. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and texted Percy.

I shouldn't have said that. I know it probably hurt. Text me back when you forgive me, if you ever do.
Also, tell Thalia I'm not gonna make it on Wednesday. Too bad tomorrow's Monday, right?
