Switched Part Seven
Switches between Mulder and Scully
Scully finished touching up Mulder's hair and makeup. For tonight, she had outfitted him in a flattering dark blue dress with a plunging neckline. It hugged the curves of her body well, which was the reason she loved this dress so much. Mulder turned around and his eyes widened in astonishment.
"Scully," He breathed. "You look beautiful." Scully could feel Her cheeks reddening at the compliment. True, she was in Mulder's body and he in hers, but she appreciated the sentiment none the less.
"Thanks Mulder. I'll go get ready now."
"I'll help." Mulder now rummaged through the closet in her room, which housed the clothes he had brought from his apartment. Scully watched as he set aside a pair of dress pants, a blue non formal Blazer, and a white v neck tee. "Here you go," Mulder smirked, handing her the clothes. "Get ready to get your socks blown off!" Scully laughed and dressed quickly, finishing with the dark blue Blazer.
She exited the bathroom and returned to Mulder, who was fiddling with his hair. Scully had used an iron to straighten the red locks and it hung elegantly about Mulder's face. She crossed the room to the mirror hung on the wall and gasped. She'd only ever seen her partner in work suits, tweed jackets and dress shirts. The Mulder she saw in the reflection was well dressed and extremely good looking.
"Told ya Sculls." Scully turned to find him smirking at her. The expression looked strange on her face.
"I- I was just admiring the fact that you clean up well." She grinned in victory at the shocked face Mulder had. Ha!

Mulder was excited. Tonight was the New Year's Eve Party for the Scully Family, which was being hosted by Bill at his house in South Carolina. It was a beautiful colonial, two story with four bedrooms. The rest of the family had already arrived, judging by the cars parked in the driveway. Scully too, was excited. Mulder could tell by the way she was fidgeting. She smoothed the blue Blazer down and nodded. He rang the bell, and both only had to wait mere seconds before the door was thrown open.
Mrs. Scully's smiling face greeted them. "Dana!!" She squealed and threw her arms around her 'daughter'. Mulder returned the hug. Mrs. Scully turned toward Scully and gave her another crushing hug. "Mulder! How are you? Do come in."
Mulder saw the flash of longing in Scully's eyes as she stared down at the woman wrapped around her. "Hello Mrs. Scully."
"Call me Maggie, okay Mulder?" Maggie broke away from the hug, staring sternly at the tall figure in front of her.
"Alright Mo- Maggie." Maggie smiled and led the new arrivals to the Living room. Matthew, Bill's child was playing a computer game and Bill was with Tara in the kitchen. Charlie yelled a greeting from across the room.
"Hey Dana, Mulder! Come meet Chelsea!" Mulder grabbed Scully's arm and dragged her to Charles, who stood with a tall black haired girl. She flashed white molars at them and stuck out a hand.
"Nice to meet you! I've heard alot about Charlie's sister in the FBI. How is it, working there?"
"Great! It's even better now Mulder's opened up to me about his feelings, if you know what i mean," Mulder whispered conspirationaly and with sly wink.
Scully, hearing Chelsea giggle at something Mulder said glared at him. "Hi, I'm Dana's partner, Fox Mulder."
"Nice to meet you, Agent Mulder."
"Hey, uh, Mulder, I don't know of you want to but Bill and I are going to be playing Beer Pong while Mom's preparing dinner. Want to come?" Mulder, forgetting for a moment that he was Scully started forward. Scully laid an arm across his shoulders, stopping him and nodded at Charlie.
"Yeah, thanks man." Both went out to the garage where Bill was setting the cups up. Mulder stared after them forlornly, he loved playing Beer Pong!
"Hey, uh Dana? Tara and I are going to help Maggie with the cooking. Want to come?" Mulder nodded, knowing he had no choice, unless he wanted to seem rude.
"Sure, I'll be right there!!"

"So, uh... How do you play Beer Pong?" Charles and Bill stared at her in confusion.
"Oh, well uh... So you usually play in teams of two but since there's an uneven amount of players we'll just take turns shooting the ball into the cups. If your ball lands in that cup, you have to drink the contents. The person who gets the most cups win." Bill explained.
Charles was still staring at Scully in shock. "Dude! How have you not played Beer Pong? Everyone did it in college!"
Scully flushed. She'd been always too busy with her studies to even consider going to parties. Her experience with College frat parties were virtually non existent. "I was too busy with my classes in psychology.." Her brothers nodded. O
Bill went first, adopting a basketball shooting stance. The white ping pong ball went flying and landed in the midst of the cups, the contents making a splash. Bill grinned and yelled, "One!" Then he chugged the drink, smacking his lips afterward.
Charlie was next and managed to get one at the very end. Scully nervously threw the ball, and it bounced off the side of the table. "Whoops."
It took her five more tries to score one in the very front. Bill and Charlie cheered. "Yeah! MULDER!! Chug it! Chug it! Chug it!" Scully laughed nervously and picked out the ball. The liquid filled atleast half
Of the red plastic cup and was clear, with a very strong alcoholic scent. Scully downed it in a gulp, gasping as the liquid ran like liquid fire down her throat. Vodka.
On Bill's 11th score, he swigged the drink and staggered to the side. "You know... Mulder," He slurred. "Maybeee ur actually goood for.. Dana. S-she seems happy, and I c-c-can tell when ssshe looksss at you that she- she loves you." Scully stared at her brother in shock. What?
"Uh- uh..."
"My turn!!" Charlie yelled, coming from nowhere. He bounced the ball into the second to last cup, scoring his 9th. He gulped it down and smacked his lips. "Last one's for you, Mulder!"
Scully was shaken out of her reverie when Charles passed the small ball at her. Not looking where she threw, she managed to lob the ball into the cup.
"Great j-job!" Charlie exclaimed and handed her the cup. Scully stared down at it. So far, she'd had vodka, beer, wine, and fermented cider. A headache was coming on, and her vision was shaky. Scully sighed and drank. Good, it was champagne.
"Let's go, guuuysss..." Charlie wrapped his arms around Scully and Bill, which was a bit awkward. Mulder's shoulders were atleast five inches taller than him and Bill was taller too. Charlie looked as if he was being supported, when actually it was Bill that was wobbling around. Scully sighed. Her brothers were idiots sometimes.

Mulder was cutting the carrots, trying not to slice his fingers off, knowing Scully probably wouldn't appreciate that. He was also trying to hide the fact that he was a horrible cook from Chelsea, Maggie, and Tara, who were quite literally breezing around the kitchen adding ingredients left and right.
"Thanks!" Tara said as she grabbed the chopping board full of carrots and dumped the small orange pieces in a steaming pot. Mulder watched in awe as the women easily managed 7 cooking dishes. Maggie was already preparing the dough for her pie and waved Mulder over to help her kneed.
"So... I heard you and Mulder just got together last month?" Chelsea continued.
"Wha? Uh oh yeah."
"I know, you guys are so adorable! The height difference is a MAJOR factor! I mean, he does have to bend down to kiss you!" Tara squealed.
"Uh..."
"And the fact that you've been together four years and work so closely together! It's sweet! You guys probably trust each other with your life!"
"Yeah," Mulder murmured. "I trust her- I mean, him more than myself sometimes..."
"Aww!" Tara and Chelsea squeaked. Maggie was listening to the younger women's conversation amusedly. It was quite obvious her Dana had fallen in love.
"In our line of work, sh- he's kept me sane, and I couldn't do what I do without him." Mulder admitted. Surprisingly, it felt good to take this off his chest. Over the past month, he'd learned so much about Scully, by being her. He probably understood her more than anyone, and the same went with Scully. If he hadn't already been in love with her before, Mulder was now.
The women finished the rest of their cooking without uttering another word about Mulder's love life with Scully. Instead Tara and Chelsea seemed to be discussing their own relationships, while Maggie hummed along quietly. Mulder was deep in thought about Scully and didn't notice Tara snapping her fingers in front of his face.
"Heyyy.. Dana?"
"Oh, sorry! What?"
"Can you grab our men? We're ready!" Mulder flashed her a wide grin and washed her flour encrusted hands, before heading out. Mulder just rounded the corner of the hallway leading the way to the garage when the door opened. Scully was laughing and staggering along with Charlie and Bill.
"Dinner's ready!" He called to them. Bill and Charlie nodded and went to go freshen up, still laughing. Scully walked haphazardly toward Mulder, a wide smile on her face.
"Mulder...! Did... You.... Know? BEER PONG IS FUN!" Scully yelled the last four words, before collapsing in a fit of giggles.
Mulder's heart melted a little at Scully. She was adorable when drunk. "Here, let me help you freshen up." He led her into one of the three bathrooms in the house and sa her down on the closed toilet seat. "Can you wash your face?" Scully snorted.
"Why? My face is fabulous!"
Mulder sighed and opened the cupboard under the sink, which held several face towels. "Guess not." He ran cold water over the towel soaking it. Twisting the towel a bit, he squeezed a small amount of the liquid out. Then he turned toward Scully, who was standing and studying her (Mulder's) face in the mirror.
"Mulder," Scully said, slurring her words a little bit. "Did anyone everr tell you that you are a verryyy handsome man?" Mulder stared up into Scully's (his) green eyes and felt a flush creeping up his neck.
"Well, Scully, did anyone tell you you're a very beautiful woman?" He whispered, sponging the sweat off Scully's face.

Through the drunken stupor, Scully watched as she flirted with her partner. He was staring up at her with something in his eyes and as he wiped the sweat off her face, Scully could feel herself coming back. "Let's go," He murmured and lifted her up. Mulder straightened as he fixed the collar of the blue Blazer and ran his fingers through her brown hair.
The dinner was an absolute blur of her family laughing, talking, and eating delightedly. Mulder was laughing along with them, eyes brightening every time he learned something new about her or her family, and frankly, Scully thought that was endearing. While she was asked several questions about Mulder's childhood and career, Scully could easily recall all the facts Mulder told her.
"Yeah, Bill, I've been playing basketball ever since the fourth grade. I taught Samantha too..."
"That's correct, I majored in Physcology in College and was top of the class."
When dinner finished, it was 10:37 at night, and New Year's was fast approaching. Matthew, who was only 7, was grouchy and stubbornly refused to take a nap. Scully watched alertly as both Tara and Bill tried and failed to convince him. She crossed the floor and knelt in front of the brown haired boy.
"Hey, Matthew? Why don't you go sleep? I know you're tired, why don't you rest?"
"I don't want to Mulder," He whined looking up st her with pleading eyes. "You guys won't wake me up and I'll miss New Year's!"
Scully smiled. "I promise, Matthew I will wake you up, alright?"
"Okay," Matthew murmured. Tara ran toward him and led him away, twisting back around to mouth a thank you. Scully turned to find everyone staring at her, even Mulder. There was something in his eyes that was unidentifiable. A dark shadow casting over the sparkling light blue.
"Well, um let's celebrate and bust out the champagne while Matt's asleep!" Charles exclaimed. The adults cheered. Scully fell in behind Mulder as the group made their way toward the Dining Room.
A hand coiled around Scully's palm and intertwined with hers. She looked down into Mulder's gaze. "You're really good with kids," He whsipered, standing on tip toes to be level with her ear. "I like that."

At 11:50 Scully made her way into Matthew's room, making sure to fulfill her promise of waking up the kid. Chelsea made her way over to him. "Mulder's really good with kids huh. Like, really good." Her green eyes flashed with mischief. "Make sure to invite me to the wedding, k?"
Mulder was left spluttering after her as she sashayed away, swaying petite hips. He wasn't quite sure whether he liked the girl or not after all.
Scully ran back in with Matthew riding piggyback, bouncing around with him squealing happily. Chelsea smirked over at Mulder, proving her point. As New Year's neared, they got out the noisemakers, ready to celebrate. Scully came back over to Mulder, leaving Matthew with his parents.
The count down soon started, with them yelling the numbers.
"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!!! HAPPY NEW YEARS!" Everyone cheered and hugged one another. Then Charlie, starting the tradition kissed Chelsea, then Bill with Tara. Mulder looked up at Scully, who was looking anywhere but at him.
"Happy New Years, hopefully we'll have a great one." Scully nodded. Mulder grabbed her hand and stood on tiptoe, reaching up to cradle her face with the other. "We have to do this, Scully, they might think we're not close."
Scully looked into Mulder's eyes and bent her head, meeting his lips. The kiss was slow and sweet before Mulder broke contact and stood flatly again. "Thank you," He sighed and leaned into Scully's chest. Her arms wrapped around him and she laid her chin on his head.
