Chapter 13: The Unexpected Tutor

A/N: So sorry for taking so long to publish! I've been extremely busy with my writing job recently. Never knew that writing could be so stressful until now.

Welp. I guess doing something that you're passionate about can be so tiring when it's piling up your schedule.

So anyways, here it is. Sorry if it seems so jumbled and rushed 😩

"What?!" I exclaimed, slamming my hands on the table.

"You can't do this, principal Foster!" The said woman raised an eyebrow incredulously as she eyed me with a scrutinizing gaze.

"And why can't I? I'm the principal of Rosewood, Ms. Rockwell. And once I make up my mind about something, no one can ever change my mind." She said in a matter-of-fact tone. I sighed, shaking my head in dismay.

"Now, why don't you calm down first mute girl? I'm sure it doesn't sound that bad." Levi stood beside me with a smile. Compared to me, he looked extremely relaxed and carefree about the whole situation. I rolled my eyes.

"I appreciate the reassurance and all, but if only you weren't the one who'll do it then I would've been more considerate with this decision!" I protested. Levi pulled up an amused smile while running his fingers through his blonde locks.

"Do you despise me that much, mute girl? Or are you putting up a facade by hating me even more to hide the fact that you enjoyed my company during the party?"

I narrowed my eyes at him, "What you're saying is completely out of topic, Jackson."

He tilted his head to the side, his smile broadening, "Dodging the question now, aren't we?"

I crossed my arms, "I prefer not wasting my time answering such pointless questions." I deadpanned.

"Oh, look who's acting like the unambiguous detective here." Levi mused.

"At least I'm taking this seriously instead of acting so laid back about it." I snapped, shooting him a cold glare. Unfazed, Levi turned to me, leaning against principal Foster's desk sideways.

"I think that should be the other way around. Instead of taking it the hard way, why not just accept it? Face it mute girl, I'm one of the top students in class. So just admit it that you need my help." He said, pointing a thumb to himself as a beguiling smile played on his lips. I gritted my teeth, infuriated at the fact that he was right. But I'm not gonna admit that.

"Just because you have higher grades than me doesn't mean you can act all high and mighty! And I definitely don't need your help! I would prefer if Jack will lend me a hand, or even Meredith!" I exclaimed angrily.

"Sadly, those two need to prepare for their upcoming competition. And jeez, just give it up already. I'm the second-best student next to Jack. Even if you keep disapproving, principal Foster's decision stays the same. I'm the best choice you have."

"Uh, no you're not." I argued nonchalantly.

Levi sighed exasperatedly, "Look, arguing about it isn't gonna take us anywhere. Just accept it and we're all good."

"Absolutely not!" I objected. "You know why? Because I can't stand sitting next to you! Especially when you're the one teaching me, that sucks!"

He smirked, "Because I'll be the cause of your distraction? Aw, don't worry. If you can't hold back that sweet urge any longer, you can always give me a kiss. As a prize, I'll give you an A+ in my pop quizzes."

I stared at him in disgust, "That kind of bribery doesn't work for me. Say that to your fans, I'm sure they'd go cray-cray about it."

An amused chuckle left his lips, "Cray-cray? Never knew you use that kind of abbreviation. I guess you don't live under a rock after all."

"Shut up! I'm not that outdated!" I growled.

Principal Foster rubbed her temples in disbelief, "Have you two settled your lovers' quarrel yet? We don't have all day." She snapped, looking peeved at being left out of the conversation.

I raised my hands in front of me in defense, "You got it all wrong, ma'am. We're not---"

I was cut off when an arm wrapped around my shoulders casually, "Sorry about my girlfriend, she gets pretty riled up easily. She's quite the short-tempered one." Levi interjected with an alluring smile. I glared at him.

Principal Foster exhaled, "In that case, it has been decided."

My face paled.

No fucking way.

"Levi Jackson, you will be Ash Rockwell's temperary tutor in algebra and trigonometry until her grades improve gradually. Ms. Rockwell, I sincerely hope you understand that this is for your sake in order to reach Rosewood's expectations."

Okay, fuck my life.

You might be wondering how I got myself into this situation.

After the welcoming party for the sophomores last saturday, I accidentally drank excessive cups of fruit punch with all kinds of flavors. In result, I got a stomachache the following day and was bedridden. I remember Meredith scolding me yesterday but nonetheless she still looked after me which was surprisingly nice of her. Unfortunately, realization hits me as supposedly the algebra quiz would be today and time didn't spare me a chance to study. Now after exchanging papers and doing a quick checking, it turns out I was the odd one out in class and received a failing grade.

Ms. Merryl was extremely furious at the outcome and gave me an earful right after her class ended. To her displeasure, I got consecutive failing remarks in her quizzes. News reached the principal's office afterwards and I was called in along with Levi.

And that's how I got here.

Forget what I said last time, I regret going to the party.

I groaned, swatting Levi's arm off of my shoulders.

"Man, don't be like that mute girl." He said with a tone of fake innocence.

I scoffed, "Your arm was so heavy, I think I'm gonna get neck cramps."

He smirked, "Aw, look who's being shy." He teased.

"I'm not!"

A sigh escaped from my lips.

This is gonna be the death of me.

* * * * *

"Why the long face, mate?" Yssie's voice made me snap out of my thoughts as I realized I've been staring at my script she handed me for like good five minutes. I smiled at her sheepishly.

"Someone has to tutor me in algebra and trigonometry because apparently, I failed all the quizzes." I admitted. Instead of being judgmental about it, she actually looked genuinely surprised.

"That's too bad but don't feel so down about it. After all, everybody have weaknesses. As for me, I suck at Spanish and performing lab experiments. Just so you know, you're not alone." She said, grinning widely as she placed her hands on her hips. I was impressed at how she openly states her weaknesses instead of being ashamed about it.

I can learn a lot from her.

"Thanks, Yssie. I really needed to hear that. Although, I kinda wish you could be my tutor instead of Levi. You seemed more sensible in teaching compared to him." I said, growing irritated at the thought of Levi crossing my mind.

Yssie chuckled as she looked rather pleased. "Well, I'm happy to hear that. Levi is the playboy jock on the soccer team, right?"

I groaned internally, "Ugh, don't even remind me. That guy is infuriating to be with, I swear and I couldn't waste another minute with him."

Yssie tilted her head, amused. "I'm surprised you hate him. Most girls were practically fawning over that guy."

"I know. I just don't get what's so great about him. He captures the heart of many fan girls but in the end, they'll get their hearts broken. Period." I muttered nonchalantly.

"Bingo, you said it. There's always a huge commotion whenever he's around." Yssie said as she glanced down on her script to highlight a few lines.

"True. It's like he's the cause of a natural calamity or something. Anyway, what are you doing?" I decided to change the subject as I took note of Yssie's serious expression.

"I wanted to highlight the key lines of Achilles where I need to project strong emotions. Since he's enraged in this scene, I have to show the audience how serious I am in taking revenge on Hector."

I nodded thoughtfully, "Good point, you sound like an actress. Have you ever considered joining the drama club?" I inquired.

Yssie waved a hand dismissively, "Nah. Acting may be one of my hobbies but singing is my true passion. That's why I plan to attend an audition for the glee club."

My eyes widened in surprise, "Holy cow, you sing! I find it rather pleasant whenever I'd listen to British people sing."

A light blush crossed Yssie's cheeks as she smiled coyly. "Aw, shocks you flatter me, mate. Wish me luck at the auditions."

"Sure thing. What's your voice type?"

She placed her hands on her hips and grinned broadly, "Mezzo-soprano. It's my forte in singing."

"That's impressive. I believe that's one of the highest voice ranges next to soprano."

"Right. Do you sing?" She asked curiously.

I shrugged my shoulders casually, "Used to. I specialize in alto but singing isn't really my passion."

"Let me guess, you're in the soccer club." She conjectured with a smirk.

"How do you know?"

"Rumors say that the captain, Penny was pretty obsessed in making you join the club. I heard her chattering amongst her teammates about it."

I let out a long sigh, "That's Penny alright. She's persistent about everything."

"Figures," Yssie commented as she fishes a pocket notebook out of her hoodie.

"Now back to the main topic, I have an idea for Achilles' and Hector's costumes."

I leaned forward on my desk as a gesture of showing attentiveness.
"Spill the beans, girl."

"I have tons of Greek armor costumes in my closet so I can lend you one." She chirped enthusiastically.

"That's great! But how come? You're a cosplayer, aren't you?" I asked, raising an eyebrow in amusement.

Yssie rubbed the back of her neck bashfully as she chuckled, "Maybe, my friend. I sorta have a habit of buying clothes that are similar to my favorite character's outfits, especially characters from novels and poems that I read."

I shook my head in disbelief, "Oh, good Lord. You're such a hopeless case when it comes to books, you know? I wouldn't be surprised if you have costumes of all the characters in The Iliad."

She held her head up high and grinned proudly, "Well, guess what? I do! I even own an enormous spear and the shield of Ajax the Great!"

"And yet I'm acting surprised," I mumbled with a hint of sarcasm as I rolled my eyes playfully.

* * * * *

The cafeteria was noisy and overcrowded as usual as Meredith and I stood behind a long line where the best dishes of Rosewood High was being served. I made a fanning motion with my hands as sweat rolled down to my neck from the unbearable heat.

"Maybe if you take off of your hoodie then you wouldn't be sweating like that. Why are you obsessed with hoodies anyway? It makes you look like an emo." Meredith stated in a matter-fact-tone. She looked unfazed as I shot her a glare over my shoulder.

"I should ask you that as well. Aren't you tired of wearing the same denim jacket every day?" I shot back.

"I keep a pile of denim jackets in my closet for you information. And they're not the same, they have different shades of blue, idiot." She argued.

"I don't give a shit about the difference of color shades." I grumbled, crossing my arms.

She sighed, "You're hopeless,"

"Says who?"

After waiting for what seemed like forever, I finally made it in front of the cashier. Sighing in relief, I fished out my wallet.

"One salisbury steak and a blue lemonade drink please." I said politely. I heard Merdith sigh beside me.

"You're ordering steak again. Are you kidding me?" She said, rubbing her temples in disbelief.

"Says the one who keeps ordering chicken wings."

"Hey, it's my favorite." She protested.

"Well, it's my favorite too so keep your nose out of my food business."

A deep grunt was Meredith's only response as we plopped our food trays down to an empty table.

"So, I heard you're supposed to be temporarily tutored by Levi until your grades improve. Sucks to be a bottom ranker, huh?" I rolled my eyes at her nonchalance.

"Stop jumping to conclusions. The class-ranking system for the summer quarter hasn't even been released by the school yet." I pointed out as I munched on a sliced piece of my steak.

"I think the result should be obvious. After all, you've been failing two math subjects in our curriculum. Not to mention, your grades are dropping in Spanish and bio as well. As your bio partner, I'm really disappointed in you." She said, pointing a fork at me in a threatening manner which I find ridiculously funny.

"Well, since you think you're so great in everything, mind helping out a bit?" I said, looking at her expectantly.

"Are you kidding me? No way, I'd do that. I already lend you a hand in trigonometry and yet you're still clueless about the whole solving process. Honestly, you're a hopeless case Ash." She said, letting a long sigh.

I clicked my tongue in annoyance, "Yeah, I get it already. Now can you quit rubbing my problems on my face? It's pissing me off."

"And why would I do that? Your laziness itself is the cause of your ignorance and you only stand by, letting your academic problems pile up until you just don't care anymore. And in the end you whine about it. That behavior is totally unacceptable." Meredith deadpanned, which irked me as I was aware she was stating a fact.

Damn smart-ass.

"You sound a lot like my nagging mom, you know. That's so unlike you, Meredith." I admitted.

At this, her expression slowly softened. "It's because I wanted to help you." She stated firmly.

It took me a good minute to process her words before I began gaping like a fish in pure shock.

"Oh, wow. That's surprising." I confessed openly, taking a sip of my blue lemonade.

Her expression hardened drastically as her features contorted into a scowl.
"Are you mocking my kindness?" She fumed.

Immediately, I raised my hands in defense. "No, it's not that. Well, how do I explain this? I guess it's best to describe you to an ice cream." I said, a subconscious smile making its way to my lips.

Meredith tilted her head in confusion, "What are you talking about?"

"Your attitude is like an ice cream. You may seem cold from the outside, just like the texture of the ice cream. But once I get a taste of it, I'll soon realize its sweetness behind the cold-hearted exterior. Am I right?" I chirped happily as a triumphant smirk became evident across my features.

Meredith crossed her arms and turned away, "Jeez, you're so weird sometimes. You sound like a writer." She muttered under a breath. From the corner of my eye, I could see her fighting the urge to smile.

I chuckled, "I was just stating a fact here."

We went straight to the library afterwards with fifteen minutes remaining before the bell rings for the next class. As usual, I was greeted by a quiet atmosphere and the cool temperature as we walked in the entrance.

"Good to see you again, Ash." A polite female voice said. Glancing to the right, I greeted Ms. Lewis, the school librarian with a smile as I tucked my hands inside the jean pockets.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Lewis." I replied. Ms. Lewis sees me as one of the regular visitors in the library which is the reason why she has clearly familiarized herself with me.

"How about borrowing something about Greek mythology like the Trojan War? I think we need to do some advance reading for English." Meredith suggested as we walked along the teen fiction shelf section.

"Yeah, sure. Just give me a minute." Brushing a fingertip along the spine of different books, my eyes searching for a certain book title. After a while of rummaging, I smiled as I pulled out a novel with a faded green and black cover. Meredith leaned closer over my shoulder.

"City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare," She read the title with interest before glancing at me. "Is that one good?"

I shrugged, "Yssie says so. She says it's about a human who learns that she is a shadowhunter so she gets herself involved with half-angel warriors in order to save her kidnapped mother. I'm gonna give this one a try, I like fantasy novels."

"The plot seems deep, that book is really thick."

I chuckled, placing the book over my arm before squeezing it close to my chest. "Seems so, I have a feeling this is gonna take me more than a week to finish it."

* * * * *

Letting the strap of my heavy training bag hang on my shoulder, I exited the bathroom to proceed to the soccer field. As I climbed down the cobblestone staircase carefully, not far from the field on the left was a smaller grassy field. Squinting my eyes intently, a group of girls wearing a red cheerleader uniform stood in the middle in a triangle formation as they waved their yellow pompoms around while skipping on their spots.

"I guess that's where the cheerleader team trains. Why do they have short skirts anyway, for sex appeal?" I scoffed, shaking my head in disbelief.

"Well, that's just how they are." A familiar voice suddenly butted in my monologue. I jumped slightly upon seeing Penny standing casually beside me, looking laughably serious which doesn't really suit her enthusiastic personality.

"Okay, I'm just gonna pretend I had an unexpected encounter with a ghost before you'll disappear and won't bother me for a lifetime." I mumbled sarcastically.

Penny chuckled, "I have a habit of surprising people."Her gaze landed to the cheerleader team once more.

"But you know, since the cheer team are basically a group of hotties with slim figures which almost seemed like they're all daughters of Aphrodite, guys in different grades were too spellbound into dating them. Almost every single member were dating someone and that's just pretty absurd." She babbled, rolling her eyes.

"While us, the girls' soccer team are a whole different story. Maybe it's because at first glance, we may seem ruthless and intimidating because we entered such a brutal sport. We run around the big grass field like headless chickens," She paused for a while when I snickered, making her smile briefly.

"And we get ourselves all sweaty and smudged with mud like fat hogs. Plus, compared to their skinny figure, we're all bulked up like weightlifters. Maybe that's why it's such a huge turn off to the guys."

"But we don't give a fuck about that." I boasted. Penny's smile broadened.

"You got it. It's still too early to give up on romance anyway, we're still young."

"Studies first!" I exclaimed. Penny bursts out laughing.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "What?"

"Okay, that was a bit too much. Nobody likes to study, not even you." She said with a smirk.

"Hey, I was stating a fact!" I protested.

"You say that but you ended up having to get tutored by Levi." She mocked.

I groaned, "How the heck does everyone that I come across know about that?!"

"Rumors, obviously. And the one who spreads it? Of course that would be Levi. He likes running his mouth endlessly, quite the talkative type."

"Ugh, that asshole." I growled.

Penny smiled knowingly, "Speaking of him, don't you think he has the hots for you?"

My forehead creased as a deep scowl contorted my features purely of disgust.

"That's not even funny anymore, Penny." I grumbled.

"Oh, come on. You know you like it. Look who's acting all sassy now." She teased.

"I'm not," I deadpanned.

Without notice, foot steps resounded behind us, stopping our conversation short.

"Seriously, are you guys gonna just stand there until Coach Kramer screams her head off? You know how she acts when we get late, you should be aware of that, especially you, Penny. Aren't you the captain?" Hailey stood at the top of the staircase, glaring at us. Behind her were some of our teammates, a hint of amusement evident on their expressions.

Penny smiled sheepishly as she rubbed the back of her neck.

"Ah, sorry about that Hail. I was having a lovely chat here with Ash."

"No excuses! Jeez, Penny. Just because you're young for a captain here in Rosewood doesn't mean you can fool around! Now, get moving girls!" Upon hearing Hailey's authoritative voice, we automatically followed her request as we raced downstairs.

"She sounds more like a captain than you do, no offense." I muttered as I jogged next to Penny, who snickered.

"None taken. That's just Hailey being herself, she's the co-captain after all."

Once we arrived at the soccer field, we were greeted by a not-so-pleasant expression of Coach Kramer. I gulped audibly.

"You're all late! Three sprints around the whole field! Now move your asses!" She exclaimed as we scurried into two lines.

This is gonna be a long day.

The sunset was already evident at the horizon, spreading its largeness into the once clear blue sky. Rich hues of red blended with the oranges, crimsons, and purples. It was beyond the time limit of the school's training, and yet the practice game is still on going.

Why, you ask?

Because Coach Kramer wanted me to score a damn goal.

Audible pants escaped from my lips, sweat beads rolled down my neck and red baby hairs clung to my sweaty forehead. I hissed in pain when I took a step forward, my legs trembled as a throbbing pain triggered my senses from running beyond my limits.

I was infuriated at this point. I had done a third attempt in scoring a goal but once again, the opposing team snatched the ball away from my possession rather easily. All because of dribbling as my hindrance.

"Dammit, why are my legs so fucking slow?" I cursed under my breath, watching in defeat as one of the best wingers in the team, Megan, dribbled the ball towards our goal using her incredible speed in running. Along the way, she'd do an amazing scissors fake move on one of my teammates and I couldn't help but observe in amazement.

Good for her she specializes in dribbling.

"Rockwell, what heck was that?!" Coach Kramer's ear-splitting scream resounding through the whole field almost made me piss my pants.

"If you don't score that goal, this game is never gonna end!" She warned. I sighed, running a hand over my messy hair.

I felt pressured and stressed about this whole situation. It's been twenty minutes since the game started, and my plan in mind isn't really executing well. Before the game, coach Kramer declared a bet with me. If I don't score a goal in this game, I'm gonna have to spend the last day of my life sprinting around the field the whole training on the next meeting.

And I'm telling you, I can't tolerate with sprinting, especially when I have to do it in two hours.

I felt a hand on my shoulder in a firm grip, snapping me back to reality.

"Don't worry, we'll win this thing. For now, stay on offense and we'll pass the ball to you. Make sure you stay open." Penny's stern voice instructed before jogging off to help out the defenders in stopping the opposing team's counterattack.

"Hail, keep your eyes on the ball!" Penny yelled as she sprinted towards the goal line while the defenders stood on their toes, bracing for Megan's shot.

"Right, captain!" Hailey replied confidently, forming into a ready stance with her knees bent and her arms spread out.

Megan swung her right leg at the speed of lightning before the ball came whizzing towards the goal. Thankfully, Hailey blocked the shot as she dived for the ball and caught it with her gloved hands effortlessly. I released a breath I didn't know I was holding.

Anxiety washes over me instantaneously as Hailey was about to do a volley kick and for a moment, she glanced at me expectantly. However, Penny's yells had her attention torn away from me.

"Hey! Over here!" She waved a hand around frantically as she ran towards the goal. She glanced at me, nodding her head towards the goal as a signal. Nodding in affirmation, I sprinted for a counterattack.

I wasn't very confident when it comes to one touch pass, and I certainly won't be able to execute a one touch shot perfectly.

But it's the only chance that I got.

Hailey understood Penny's gesture as she did a volley kick, making the ball flew upwards. Penny controlled the ball swiftly as it landed on her feet before dribbling it effortlessly towards the goal. Swiftly, she did a 360 roulette turn technique to get past a left defender.

Andrenaline rush washes over me as I sprinted with full speed, ignoring the ache on my calves. I ran past the defenders of the opposing team and made sure they wouldn't be abled to catch up to me. Penny took it as a cue to pass me the ball.

Everything seemed to happen in a blur but at that moment, my senses were strangely calm and burning with excitement as if a flame had been ignited within me and my reflexes were suddenly quick and automatic.

A satisfying sound of the impact of my foot against the ball echoed in the field as I swung my left foot forward and before I knew it, the ball hit the net.

"Alright!" Penny's cheers snapped me back to my senses as she wrapped an arm over my shoulder. The rest of my teammates whooped happily as each of them congratulated me with a pat on the shoulder.

I blinked, looking genuinely confused. "Did I score?" I asked which probably sounded like a dumb question.

Penny bursts out laughing, "Yeah, silly! Gosh, you never cease to amaze me with that monstrous kick of yours!" She exclaimed, nudging my arm playfully.

"Uh, that was nothing really." I said, growing flustered at her comment.

"Look who's being humble." Hailey teased me with a smirk.

The loud whoops and cheers settled down upon seeing coach Kramer walking up to us. Our celebration was short-lived as her intimidating demeanor remained, with her attention purely on me. I bit my lip nervously.

"Rockwell," She began sternly and I stiffened automatically.

"Why didn't you score sooner? As long as you're inside the field, it's important to have a mindset of doing what is must. But as for you, it took you twenty whole minutes to score a goal. What if the opposing team scores first? All your opportunities would be wasted." Coach Kramer scolded, crossing her arms. My head hung down in shame, knowing that she's making a good point.

A soft sigh made me look up at her in curiosity. Coach Kramer's expression had softened as she poked her fist on my chest.

"Nonetheless, you did great. Just keep in mind of my advice. I'm lending you a hand here, Rockwell." She said in a gentle but firm tone.

I nodded proudly, "Understood, coach."

* * * * *

As soon as soccer practice ended, I frantically dashed out of the field as quick as possible in hopes of avoiding myself from Levi's sight. And now here I am in my room, my red hair damp from the shower. I'm fully aware that today is my first day to be tutored by Levi, but knowing his attitude around me, I headed back to the dorm by myself. I let myself fall to the bed on my back, sighing exasperatedly.

"This is why I hate Mondays. They're so damn long and dreadful." I groaned.

"Well, get used to it." Meredith said nonchalantly who sat on her study desk as usual, engrossed with her binder notes.

"Thanks for being such a good friend," I muttered sarcastically. Meredith only scoffed in response.

Glancing at my watch, I stood up and grabbed my dorm keys hurriedly.

"Gotta go, it's almost seven." Meredith grunted a response as I headed out of my room to go to Levi's.

Levi's playboy smirk was the first thing I noticed as I entered his room. He sat at the edge of the bed while Jack was busy studying on his desk.

"I've been waiting for you, mute girl." He said jauntily.

Rolling my eyes in annoyance, I ignored him and went up to Jack instead.

"Oh, hey Ash." Jack greeted with a smile as he glanced over my shoulder.

"Studying hard as usual, huh?" I said, smirking in amusement.

Jack gave me a coy smile, "Well, yeah. I hate to let my grades down after all."

"Hey, don't ignore me now." Levi whined as he went up beside me. Turning to face him, I sent a fake smile.

"Oh, hey Jackson. Didn't see you there." I sneered, my eyes narrowing at him coldly.

"Jeez, don't be like that now. I'm here to help you out, you know."

"I don't want your help." I argued.

"Well, you'll be needing it mute girl."

I groaned, "Like I said, I don't want it."

Levi sighed, "Are we really gonna argue now? We don't have all day."

I placed my hands on my hips, "That's better than having to suffer of being tutored by your playboy ass."

He cocked his head to the side as he grinned coquettishly, "Gosh, you despise me that much, huh?

"I don't hate you," I stated firmly. Levi's eyes lit up with hope as he couldn't fight back a smile.

"I detest you!" Automatically, his smile faltered as his bottom lip pushed forward into a pout.

"That's too much, mute girl. Don't you consider my feelings at all?" He said dejectedly. I turned away from him.

"No regrets,"I said, smirking triumphantly as he looked like he was ready sulk at a corner.

Jack sighed, closing his trigonometry textbook.

"Ash, you need to accept the principal's decision. Besides, Levi's willing to help you."

"Jack, you're such a good friend!" Levi exclaimed as he kneeled down and began bowing repeatedly on his knees as if he were thanking Allah. I scoffed at his idiocy.

"Jack! I thought you were on my side!" I protested.

Jack rubbed his temples in disbelief, "Listen, I'm not on anyone's side. I'm just stating my opinion. And Ash, it's already seven o'clock. You guys need to get started." I sighed in defeat.

So in the end, that bastard's gonna have to tutor me.

"As for the hyperbola, it is the set of points in a plane whose distances from two fixed points called foci, has an absolute difference that is equal to a positive constant. In addition, a hyperbola is formed by the intersection of a cone with an oblique plane that intersects the base."

Okay, I get that he's pretty good in teaching math subjects.

But is it necessary for him to poke my nose, tuck my hair behind my ear, and touching my hand? I clicked my tongue in annoyance as I swatted his hand away when he attempted to reach for my hair for the third time.

"Stop touching me, dumbass." I snapped.

Levi flashed me a alluring smile, "And what if I don't?"

"Then you're making a big mistake."

"As expected from you, your smart mouth attitude is really something."

I fought the urge to pull my hair out of my head.

This day just keeps getting better.
