One day, two children were playing in the garden. Hansell, and Grettel. Their family was a poor one, and the Mother had always thought that the children were too much to take care of. So she got the Father to take them into the woods and abandon them. The two children tried leaving a trail of seeds, but the birds ate them, so they were lost.

Hansell and Grettel walked and walked until they came to a peculiar house, made entirely of candy! They marveled at the thought of the sweet taste, and immediately started eating into the house.

A witch happened to live there, and she came home to find two pesky children eating her house. She was awfully hungry too.

She called out to the children. "Come inside, young ones. I'll make you dinner." The two hungry children came inside, and the witch trapped Hansell in a cage, and made Grettel do the cleaning.

One day, the witch asked Grettel to turn on the oven. Grettel knew that the old woman would cross her, so she would double cross the witch. "But I don't know how!" She cried, in her most innocent voice.

The Witch scowled and got into the oven to turn it on. Grettel kicked her into the oven and closed the door. Bloodcurdling screams could be heard from the oven...

Grettel took Hansell out of his cage, and left the Witch to bake for an hour. They then grabbed some candy plates, and served the Witch as a banquet.

She was quite delicious, they both thought.
