7: Bell Test (Part:1)
The morning was cold and the night was sleepless as I stared out my window waiting for Sasayaki's return. She did eventually and was now asleep around my neck, banishing Himei from the world. I was angry at first because of her abandonment, but I soon got over it when she returned to her rightful place. It was now closer to the evening and I was stuck on what to do.
"Shouldn't you be at the training grounds?" I sighed at my homes invader as I continued to stare at the window that was open.
"I suppose Kakashi-sansei, but I don't see how I'd be late for training if you're here instead of with the team." I responded causing him to chuckle.
"I guess not." His answer was short and I gave no response as I pet Sasayaki mindlessly. I began to wonder about my teammates, they didn't seem like they'd be able to get along collectively. Sasuke's too focused with his own self-improvement and shut out anyone who even tried to get close. Sakura would be too busy drooling over Sasuke to be any real help and Naruto, well he won't work with Sasuke and Sakura would only refuse to work with him at all.
"My teammates are going to be quite the handful Kakashi-sensei," I paused when he hummed and nudged Sasayaki in attempt to wake her. "Are you sure you'll be able to handle them?" Whatever his answer was fell on dead ears as I jumped out my window once again and headed towards the training grounds.
"Kami? Are you alright? You're very quiet today." Sasayaki's hiss was quiet as she shifted around my neck anxiously.
"I am fine. Just... a little tired is all." I lied, smiling softly at her concern. Whether she believed me or not was unclear to me because she didn't answer and before I knew it, I was already at the training grounds.
"YOU'RE LATE!" Naruto and Sakura screamed and I tilted my head slightly.
"I'm sorry. A black cat crossed my path and I had to take the long way around." Kakashi stated causing me to frown slightly.
"But you were just at my hou-." Kakashi's hand was planted firmly over my mouth before I could finish my sentence. Sasayaki hissed quietly, but did nothing to help me as the Jōnin chuckled nervously.
"Enough of that. Lets get started," I resisted the urge to bite my sensei's hand as I glared up at him through the bandages. "This time is set for noon. Your assignment is simple. You just have to get these bells from me before time runs out," there was a slight jingle near my right ear indicating where the bells were as Kakashi finally let go of my mouth. "That's all you've got to do. If you can't get the bells before noon, you'll each be tied to a post while I eat my lunch in front of you."
"Huh? Kakashi-sensei, there are four of us and only three bells. Why is that?" Sakura questioned as I walked closer to my teammates.
"He's ensuring that at least one of us will get sent back to the academy." I stated calmly causing Sakura to gasp.
"That's right. Now just remember that you are allowed to use weapons, that includes shuriken," Kakashi sensei paused. "You'll never get the bells if you aren't ready to kill for them." Sasayaki tensed around my neck causing me to scowl as I reached up and tugged on her.
"B-but those weapons are dangerous Sensei!" Sakura cried out in shock while I stood by silently, trying to think of a plan.
"You couldn't even dodge that eraser!" Naruto laughs causing me to turn to Kakashi confused.
"Eraser?" I questioned and he sighed in response.
"Class clowns are usually the weakest links." I zoned the rest of Kakashi's sentence as I pondered the situation quietly.
"Now, now, I don't even say start yet. You did come at me with the intention to kill though. How do I say this... I'm actually starting to like you guys. Ready.. Start!" I grabbed Sakura's arm as I quickly jumped back, pulling her with me as I concealed my chakra.
"H-huh? Kami-kun? What is it?" She whispered as Naruto fought with Kakashi in the background.
"I need your help. Everyone's help really, but we need to work together if we want those bells." I tried, but she shook her head in defiance causing me to sigh.
"I'm gonna find Sasuke-kun! Sorry!" And with that she was gone causing me to sigh once again.
"Kami I don't think thissss'll work. They would never be able to work together and win." Sasayaki spoke causing me to frown.
"With minds like that they'll get themselves and the whole team killed. They're going to have to learn that everything they do effects the squad. You wouldn't want to find a new summoner because their stupidity got me killed, would you Sasayaki?" She hissed defiantly in response to my small lecture causing me to chuckle slightly. Noticing Kakashi and Naruto's absence from the clearing I walked off to find someone else.
