Title: The In-Betweens

Thoughts:

There's a decent story here with plenty of potential to it. The characters seem interesting, the plot has potential, and it's relatively engaging. I like this book. I really do.

I think this book's biggest weakness is the writing itself. At times, it's just too damn clinical and listy, which pulls me out of the book and honestly kind of frustrates me. There's a lot of  "she did this. Then she did this. She then did this" which means that the sentence structure needs to make like an earthquake and shake it up. Please. The underlying story has a fuckton of potential, but the stiff and awkward writing gets in the way. 

POV switches. I... feel uncertain about the POV switches. One instance that stuck out to me as really well-done in terms of POV switches was during the scene where Margaret invades the warehouse. That was done really well, and the switching POVs really helped build up the tension that the scene required. But there were just... general moments at times where we changed POVs and I'm not entirely sure why they couldn't have been made their own chapter or something. But the warehouse scene... keep that. 

In terms of the world, I get a general feel for it, but [as I noted somewhere in the book] the "aesthetic" could be refined more. At one point, the city as described as Tokyo crossed with Moscow crossed with New York which... they have the same general THEME but they all look different? Things like that. And in other aspects, the world and its detailed are spread out relatively well. There's times, like in the prologue, where a bunch of names of items and people get dropped...

Oh, speaking of the prologue. It's... not really a prologue? It shows an event RIGHT before the actual book starts. Maybe rework it a bit and make it chapter one. Or remove it. Or pick a scene not right before the actual start of the book.

I really want to see where this book goes and I hope it gets updated soon.
