Title: Demon in My View

Quick Summary: This grabbed me by the collar of my shirt and didn't let go until the end.

Thoughts:

This was very fucked up, but in an intriguing way. I was enraptured the whole way through. It's the perfect length. The writing style is quite solid. The emotions, and Miles's longing, and the sheer fucked-up-ness of it all... 

Miles is an... interesting character, to say the least. Quite messed up. His desire for Vretiel is tangible and apparent from the moment we first see the two of them to the very end.

That said, he also kind of really rubs me wrong. That, however, is just because of the kind of person he is. His personality is written well. He's just quite a dick and how he treats women makes my skin crawl.

Which leads me to... Vretiel and Miles. Together. 

I know Lady categorized this as Dark Romance when presenting it to me. The thing about romance is... it tends to be reciprocated. And... I really don't feel like it's reciprocated here. MAYBE, you could argue at the end she STARTS to reciprocate it? But in the course of the short, in general, she does not. At least, I feel like she doesn't. And thusly, the categorization of it being romance, even dark romance... it bugs me. Especially when they have sex at the end. She just... kind of lets him and it made me feel a bit... tense. That's the best way I can put it.

The story as a whole? Fucking phenomenal. The writing could be tightened a bit with another round of edits, but it's fantastic. Vretiel and Miles together at the end?... I feel like there either needs to be things changed so the romantic element is more apparent, or make it more clear these emotions are all one-sided. 

I will also note that it took me a little bit to catch on to what exactly it is Miles did. I hadn't read the summary, so maybe that's just me, but this is one of those things that should be clear in-text as well.

It's absolutely something I recommend reading, though.
