< Chapter Three >
It was the next day and Maxis woke up to the same scenario. Her alarm was going off and her phone vibrating shortly after. Apparently, there had been another murder during the night and it was at the movie theater, again.
Much like yesterday, Maxis showered, got dressed and drove to the theater. It was there that she would begin to examine the body, this time it was located in the main lobby. She immediately recognized the victim, too. It was the owner she had talked to yesterday about the security footage.
"Shit..." Maxis mumbled as she started to crouch down beside the dead body.
As she examined it, she noticed that this death appeared to be less "brutal" than the one from yesterday. It was a simple throat slash compared to being stabbed multiple times, like yesterday's victim.
After taking her notes, she would head to the security room, once again. It was worth a shot to try and get as good of a look at the cameras as she could. However, like yesterday, Maxis quickly found herself straining her eyes and squinting, since she wasn't able to see much due to the small screens, which made everything look too blurry.
Maxis would make a request similar to the one yesterday, asking about getting the raw footage from the cameras, so she (and the officers at the station) could use it and examine it.
After leaving the security office, she walked past the body and the coroner who was examining it.
"It's almost like someone has a vendetta against the theater." The coroner joked.
Maxis nodded, letting out an "mhm" as she walked past them and headed outside for her car. As she unlocked her doors and got in, she noticed her detective partner, Joshua, parking across the street and getting out of his car. She would watch as he got out and ran into the theater, almost like an excited dog who's owner just came home. Thankfully they didn't see her, which may have been because Maxis was ducking behind her steering wheel.
"What a fucking clown." Maxis muttered under her breath as she sat up and shook her head. She'd start up her car and drive to the station.

After a short drive, Maxis made it to the station and into her office. She would get started on her board and add the new information she received earlier.
About an hour had passed and Maxis was seated at her desk. A knock on the doorframe grabbed her attention. Looking up, she saw Joshua standing there, he had two things in his hands. A notebook and some kind of DVD.
"Since we're on the same case, I thought you might want my notes from earlier." He stated while entering her office. He would then place both items on the edge of her desk, "there's the security cam footage that you wanted, too." He added while pointing to the DVD.
Joshua would soon leave, letting Maxis to do whatever she wanted with the stuff he dropped off. The first thing she did was get up and close her door, then pick up the DVD. Sitting back down, Maxis would put the disc in her computer and let the footage automatically play while also thumbing through Joshua's notes. The only thing that really caught her eye was an interview Joshua did with the wife of the theater owner. According to the wife, her husband had gotten some phone calls that night, but the contents of the calls were unknown.
Once she read over everything Joshua had written down, she'd pull her own journal out and write down the new information. After doing that, Maxis would glance up at the computer monitor. She started to fast forward through the footage until she saw something that caught her eye.
Hitting the pause button, Maxis would squint at the screen, trying to make sure she was seeing things clearly. Once she found out that she was, indeed, seeing things correctly, her body tensed up a little bit and her eyes widened.
"No fucking way..."
....
A/N: Hmm, I wonder what our young detective saw? I guess we'll find out whenever the next chapter comes out xp So peace out until then! Stay safe!
