< Chapter Five >

After telling the others about the return of Ghostface, Maxis watched as Evan, Shannon and Kyle sat up their seats. It was clear that this wasn't what they were expecting to hear.

"Ghostface is back?" Kyle asked after taking a few seconds to comprehend what his sister said.

"How sure are you?" Evan added.

Maxis took another deep breath, "Pretty sure." She replied, "We we're finally able to get the security footage from the theater deaths and in that footage, someone was wearing the Ghostface shit."

There was a long moment of silence, as everyone else was trying to comprehend what Maxis was telling them.

After taking a few seconds to think, Kyle spoke up, "As far as I know, none of us actually knew the two victims, right?"

Shannon was the first to respond, with a nod as she glanced at the other two, not remembering any instance where any of them had ever talked to the first victim, Joseph, or the second victim, the movie theater owner.

Having gotten some visual confirmation, Kyle continued, "So, there is a good chance that none of us will be attacked by Ghostface? If this really is them coming back, that is... because when John, Jaren and the other Jon did this shit, they attacked and killed people we knew..."

Hearing his response, Maxis felt a tiny bit of relief, as she realized that he was right. The other two Ghostface attacks started with their friends/people they knew. However, she thought that it was still best to tell them, just in case.

Not even thirty seconds later, the other three, Brian, Brock and David were coming back into the living room. They had finished doing whatever they were in Brian's room.

"You're all awfully quite... what's going on in here?" Brian asked, raising a brow as he looked at his red headed cousin (Shannon).

"Maxis broke something!" Kyle grinned as he looked towards his sister.

Maxis flipped him off, "Don't listen to the idiot."

Brock chuckled a bit as he and the other two took seats in the living room, joining the others. They would all spend the rest of the night in the living room, at least until it was time for the others to leave.

A Few Days Later...

It was now a couple of days after David's "party" and Maxis was currently at home with her brother and his wife, having dinner with the two of them, before she would have to go back to work, since she was putting in extra hours to try and crack the Ghostface case, so she could move on from it.

As they ate, Maxis would tell them about how the new Ghostface cases were coming along, without giving too much information to where she could get in trouble for doing so.

"Well, you're a smart person, I'm sure you'll be able to solve the mystery." Kyle smiled, trying to show some encouragement and support for his little sister.

Shannon nodded, "I agree." She giggled softly before looking at her phone and sighing, "Ah, my mom wanted me to stop by her house real quick because she has something for me."

Soon after saying that, Shannon got up, taking her plate to the sink. She would give Kyle a quick kiss and also say goodbye to Maxis before heading out the door. Maxis would look at her phone and get up as well.

"I should probably get going too." She stated.

Kyle nodded as he got up to follow her to the door, "Just don't work yourself too hard." He smiled.

Maxis nodded, "Understood... Gramps." She giggled softly with a tease as she reached the door. However, as she opened the door, she turned around, "if anything happens, call me..."

"Yes Ma'am!" Kyle replied with a little salute, kind of in a teasing manner.

Maxis groaned, "I'm serious." She replied, almost in a scolding manner.

Kyle threw his hands up in defeat, "Yes Maxis, I know, I know." He smiled, "If anything happens, I'll call you."

Maxis nodded and gave her brother a hug before leaving. She'd walk to her car and briefly check her phone before starting the car and driving away.

Being about five minutes away from the police station, Maxis decided to stop at the nearby gas station and fill her car up, since she didn't want to do it after she was done working for the night.

After spending a minute or two pumping the gas and filling the tank, Maxis got back in the car. Just before she turned the key, her phone started vibrating.

Maxis looked at the caller ID and noticed that it said "Unknown Caller." There was a brief moment of hesitation, however she swiped over to answer the phone, just in case this was an important call.

"Detective Johnson..." She spoke into the phone.

"Hello Detective~"

....

A/N: Well shit, this can't be good, can it? Heh, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Stay safe and peace out!
