< Chapter Eleven >

Arriving at Shannon's house, Maxis parked her car and saw that Joshua was already there. He was waiting for her and standing outside of his car. That confused her, as she thought that he would've still been busy with the other emergency.

Maxis hopped out of her car, grabbing her pistol and her phone as she did so. As she walked towards him, she made sure that her gun was loaded.

"So? What happened with the other emergency?" She asked with a brow raised.

Joshua frowned, "The roommate was killed, a gunshot to the head... The other one, Hanby, however, wasn't anywhere to be found."

Maxis nodded although she became rather skeptical about the information, "Well, let's get Shannon and prevent another bloodbath."

Joshua nodded as the two of them came up with a quick plan, which consisted of Maxis calling Shannon and telling her that she would meet her inside. Once together, Maxis would escort Shannon out to safety with Joshua, while Maxis would go back inside and do a sweep of the house, just in case Ghostface was indeed inside.

They did just that too, Maxis stayed on the phone with Shannon until she got to her room safely, then it was taking her outside, where the red head would go to the cars and stay with Joshua, while Maxis went back inside.

As she reentered the house, Maxis muttered, "Alright Ghostfuck, round two..."

Maxis kept her gun poised as she scanned and checked every room. Checking almost every spot possible, Maxis stopped at the pantry closet because she heard a noise coming from inside.

Raising her gun and pointing it at the door, Maxis was about to pull the trigger but was stopped by gunshots and screams coming from outside. Her face filled with concern, as her attention was drawn towards the front door.

"Shannon?! Joshua?!" She called out.

Getting no response, Maxis fully turned in direction of the front door and began to take a step in that direction. That's when the closet door swung open and out popped Ghostface.

"Shit!" Maxis sputtered as she quickly spun around, trying to aim her gun at them.

Ghostface had other plans though, as they easily knocked the gun out of her hands and plunged their knife into her side.

Maxis' eyes widened and she gasped in pain, "You fucking bitch." She gritted her teeth as she slammed herself against them, effectively knocking Ghostface back but also causing herself a great deal of pain as the knife was ripped out of her side at the same time.

Clutching her side, Maxis hissed in pain and began to make a charge towards the front door, deciding that her gun was too far out of reach now.

When Maxis got to the front door, she was blocked by Shannon and Joshua. The first thing Maxis noticed was that Shannon was whimpering and that she had, what appeared to be, a gunshot wound in her stomach.

As Maxis' face filled with more concern, she noticed that Joshua was behind Shannon with his arm wrapped around her neck, almost like a standing headlock, and he had his gun in his other hand.

"Get back in the house, Johnson." Joshua smirked while motioning with his gun.

Maxis' eyes widened in horror, "What the fuck?" She muttered as she backed up.

Eventually, Joshua, with some help from Ghostface, managed to corner both Maxis and Shannon.

"So, I guess this is the big reveal, huh?" Joshua chuckled, watching Ghostface nod along, "No one ever suspects the detectives, do they~?"

Maxis didn't respond, she just held her side while being disgusted and furious, while Shannon whimpered in pain as she listened.

"I can't take all the credit though, as I really couldn't have done this without their help." Joshua replied, motioning towards Ghostface.

Maxis, Shannon and Joshua watched as Ghostface unmasked themself, revealing that the other killer was Shannon's cousin, Brian.

"Hello ladies~ Surprised~?" Brian quipped as he set the Ghostface mask on the floor.

"Brian...?" Shannon whimpered in a whisper.

"I should have fucking known..." Maxis gritted her teeth, now turning to Joshua, "You won't get away with this..."

Joshua started to laugh, letting out a snort or two, "Brian, did you hear this bitch? She said we won't get away with this..." He almost doubled over in laughter.

Taking a few moments to calm down, Joshua finally spoke, "I'll go down as the heroic and brave detective who stopped the latest Ghostface spree, in which Ghostface turned out to be the "greatest" detective the town had, Maxis Johnson... The story will be that Maxis couldn't deal with the trauma from her past with Ghostface, and the pressures of her job only made things worse, causing her to go crazy and kill all of those poor, innocent people, including her beloved brother, Kyle."

Maxis was seething with anger at this point as she turned to Brian, "And what the fuck do you get out of this?"

Brian grinned, "Well, with Kyle out of the picture, I get to spend the rest of my life living with my cousin, Shannon. We'll leave the country and go somewhere else, like home to Ireland or something like that, where no one will recognize us."

Shannon whimpered in pain and confusion, "Brian... why would you do this?"

"Because, I missed you my dear cousin. You started coming around less and less, once you began dating that moron and then when you got married, you fully stopped." Brian responded.

Whimpering again, Shannon replied, "All you had to do was ask me to visit, Brian..."

Brian shrugged, "Maybe, but it's more fun this way... No?" He snickered, "by the way, you both should've seen the look on Kyle's face when I killed him." He laughed again, now beginning to do a fake, slow stabbing motion towards his neck, mimicking Kyle's death.

Shannon's eyes were clouded with tears, "Brian..." She whimpered softly and sniffled.

"You're a fucking piece of shit!" Maxis growled and gritted her teeth, while still holding her stab wound.

Brian grinned, "Thank you!"

"Well, we better hurry this along before anyone else shows up." Joshua sighed softly, beginning to point his gun towards Maxis.

Just before he pulled the trigger, there was a noise that came from outside. That caused all four of them to look towards the open front door.

"Brian, go check out whatever that was..." Joshua stated.

Brian scoffed, "Why do I have to do it?!" He responded with a slight whine.

Joshua sighed, "Because I have the gun, I can stop these two bitches if they try anything."

Brian decided not to argue and walked to the front door, taking a step outside to look around. He turned back around to face the others inside the house.

"There's nothing out..."

A gunshot rang out and Brian fell inside the house, having been shot in the back. The remaining three looked towards the front door, not seeing anyone.

Joshua growled under his breath, before turning his gun back to Shannon, this time aiming it at her head, "Whoever's out there, you've got three seconds to show yourself before the pregnant bitch gets her head blown off!" He warned.

There was no response, so Joshua started to loudly count...

"One... Two..."

Once he had gotten to two, that's when the person made their presence known. It was Evan Fong, he stood in the doorway with a gun in his hands.

Joshua raised a brow, "Evan Fong... what are you doing here?"

Evan kept his gun raised, "Maxis texted me, told me she might need back up."

Joshua turned to quickly look at Maxis, "Smart girl." He replied with before turning back to Evan, "Now, you had your chance to be a hero and you blew it, so set your gun down."

"And if I don't?" Evan asked, not lowering his gun.

"Or else, preggo gets it." Joshua responded with pressing the barrel of his pistol closer to Shannon's head.

Evan took a deep breath before setting his gun down and raising his hands. He knew that he couldn't get a shot off that quick.

Joshua nodded, grinning, "Good, now kick it over here." He demanded.

Evan hesitated for a second before eventually kicking it over towards the others.

Chuckling loudly, Joshua shook his head, "No wonder why you never made it in the hockey big leagues, you're dumber than a bag of rocks."

After saying that, Joshua immediately pointed his gun towards Evan and fired a round off, which obviously struck Evan, who ended up collapsing to the ground.

It was at that moment that Shannon and Maxis decided to fight back. Shannon managed to fight through her pain and kick the back of her foot/heel into Joshua's knee.

Joshua's grasp on Shannon loosened as he cursed up a storm to clutch his throbbing knee. He was soon met with a bloody fist to the face, as Maxis swung a punch.

Soon enough, Joshua was on the floor and Maxis was on top of him. It was extremely reminiscent of her other Ghostface encounters, as she swung punch after punch into Joshua's face.

However, Joshua managed to hit her stab wound, causing Maxis to let out a pain-filled sob. As Maxis was being flipped over, Shannon reached for Joshua's gun.

Just as Joshua got his hands around Maxis' neck, Shannon fired a round, striking Joshua in his head. It was a devastating blow as Joshua soon went limp and Maxis shoved him off of her.

Maxis coughed for a few seconds and made her way to Shannon, gently taking the gun from her, "Are you alright?"

Shannon was about to respond with a nod, however her eyes began to drift off to somewhere behind Maxis. Obviously, Maxis would turn around and look at the same area, and her eyes widened once she did.

Brian's body was no longer on the ground. Luckily, the two females heard a noise coming from another room in the house. Knowing what they had to do, Maxis handed Shannon the gun back, while Maxis, herself, quietly retrieved her dropped gun from earlier. The two ladies would then get up and split up.

The room that Brian ran into had two doorways so Maxis cut him off at the one, having her gun poised. Turning around, Brian began to run back to the other doorway, only to be blocked by his cousin, Shannon, who also had a gun in her hand.

Brian quickly backed himself into a corner, having his hands raised as he sunk to the ground. He made no eye contact with Maxis, instead he chose to look solely at his cousin.

"Shannon! I didn't want to kill Kyle!! Joshua forced me do it!! You know I would never want to hurt you like that!!!!" Brian stuttered as he kept his hands raised and cowered in the corner.

"BULLSHIT!" Maxis yelled, having noticed that Shannon's gun was starting to waver as Brian was trying to manipulate his way out of this.

Brian soon realized that he wasn't getting out of this, so he looked directly at the two ladies and smirked, "Kyle died like a bitch..."

That was the last thing he said as multiple gunshots rang out. After about seven or eight shots, there was mostly silence as Brian's body slumped over.

Maxis put her gun in it's holster and slowly made her way over to Shannon, who's empty gun was clicking as she was still pulling the trigger on it while tears were falling down her cheeks.

Gently taking the empty gun from Shannon, Maxis engulfed her in a sisterly type of hug.

"Let's go get you checked out..." Maxis softly spoke, leading Shannon to the front door and to the porch so they could call for emergency crews.

***

When the emergency crews arrived at the house, the paramedics loaded Shannon into an ambulance as others tended to Maxis' stab wound. They also wheeled Evan out on a stretcher, who had let out a groan as he was loaded into another ambulance.

"Jesus... He's got more lives than a fucking cat..." Maxis muttered, while being relieved that he was still alive.

The ambulances that held Shannon and Evan soon drove off, while Maxis was being questioned and loaded into an ambulance herself, even if she insisted she was alright.

As Maxis' ambulance started to drive off, she pulled her phone out and brought up a picture of her brother. While looking at both the house vanishing in the distance and the picture of Kyle, she muttered...

"Don't worry, we got those bastards for you..."

....

A/N: Well, there it was, the big reveal and showdown! Honestly, who would've guessed it was the detective and Brian?!  Anyway, the next chapter will be the short epilogue stuff and whatnot, so peace out until then!!
