(88) Moving Day

Florence had expected her mother to ask her to pack a little suitcase with essentials that she was sure she needed for the whole summer. Ofcourse, Jane knew, that with Florence there was always some sort of explanation needed to get her up on her feet. And so she did just that, telling her of the Order's mobilization and moving in to headquarters. Sirius wasn't particularly happy with changing locations, considering the fact that they were moving in to his childhood home at number twelve, Grimmauld Place. Florence seemed to understand why he felt that way, considering his bad relationship with his family.

"So that means I'm a part of the Order now?" she asked, the thought of being inducted was a pretty big responsibility. Jane shook her head, before continuing to repack Miss Mimsy's cat food in to daily rations, "You're not part of the Order. You're too young to be a member."

"Usually we consider recruitment when someone is of age." Remus informed her.

"Well that's in a month and a couple of weeks...Will I be a member then?"

Sirius froze in mid-action of folding a shirt of his, both him and Remus swiveled over to look at Jane, who had seemed to goggle at Florence's question. She composed her self, patiently replying that it was up to Dumbledore to decide whether one was worthy enough to be an Order member or not.

"Then why do I need to move in to headquarters? Why not leave me here? No one in the Ministry knows that you're in the order, right? They wouldn't go after me..."

"People far worse than Jane's colleagues know about her association with the Order, let's say, the Death Eaters? They might come after you." Sirius quipped in, realizing that his words weren't helpful at all.

"Everyone who is a non-Order member who knows stuff, a lot of stuff, are being moved in to the Headquarters to be provided with safety," said Jane, "It's not every member, though. The Black Family House will only be for Order wizards and witches within a certain proximity...a couple Aurors, you and I, Remus, Sirius, Miss Granger—apparently, as Dumbledore requested that she be moved in as well—also the Weasleys..."

"The Weasleys?" Florence repeated, surprised, "You mean, like, all of them?"

"I believe so. They've hit a slight bump on the road, though, which is why they'll be moving in a few days after us."

"All of the Weasley children?"

"Yes, including your sweetheart," Sirius disclosed, an unreadable expression on his face, "If that's what you're trying to ask. Might as well be direct to the point.

Florence blushed, "Uh, yeah, I suppose,"

"No sharing rooms with him though," he followed in a sharply protective tone, "Not under my roof you're not. There are plenty of rooms in that hell of a house for everyone. You two shouldn't be in the same floor as each other unless there are adults present."

"Here we go..." Remus said amusingly under his breath.

"Sirius," Florence chuckled, zipping up the last bag she was going to bring with her, "Fred is nice, trust me."

"He's Molly's son. Ofcourse he's nice. A little impish at school, but wouldn't attempt anything like you're implying," said Remus.

"I'm not saying that I don't trust the kid, Remus, I don't trust teenagers in general. And their hasty impulses when it comes to...hormones and stuff..."

Florence cringed, "Okay, no. Sirius, do not even go there, please."

"Oh I've been a teenager once, Florence, one of the handsomest infact—" Remus rolled his eyes at his best mate's pretentious declarations "—and trust me when I say that those urges are real. You just can't help yourself sometimes."

"In Sirius's case before," said Jane, "He couldn't help himself most of the time."

Remus chortled.

Sirius flashed a quick glare at his friends, before resuming his talk with the sufficiently horrified teenage girl, "The point is, it's always safer to prevent...things...from happening—"

Before he could talk anymore, Florence got up from her seat hastily, both hands now clamped over her ears. "We are not going to have this conversation."

"But we already are," she heard Sirius reply, words muffled to her, but still understandable. Florence trudged up the stairs, hands still over her ears, before calling back from the balcony, "Don't talk to me unless it's something not pertaining to that."

"Way to scar my daughter for life," Jane whistles amusedly, making Sirius scoff.

"I was sparing you from giving her the talk about the birds and the bees. You should be thanking me, Janie."

"I already did give her the talk...A few years ago, infact. So yeah, you were not able to spare me from the awkwardness of the whole experience." Jane retorted.

"Well she's going to have to get used to Uncle Sirius...." he grinned, "Because I'll be sticking around for a long, long time."

"Venice?" Nicolai questioned, before putting her feet up on the center table of Alexander's living room. "I didn't know you had Italian relatives..." she frowned, Alexander shooting her a look, "Nic, she's literally named after an Italian city. Ofcourse she's Italian."

Nicolai dismissed Alexander's comment with an eye roll, before averting her attention back to Florence, "When will you guys be leaving?"

"Tomorrow, the latest," Florence said, lying through her teeth, "Mum's checking if the floo network is available for this evening. If there aren't any heading to Italy, then we'll be off tomorrow."

"You don't look Italian." Nicolai said, still slightly dubious of her friend's story.

"Mum said the Prices are half Italian." Florence explained, which was true. But as to whether or not they still had relatives in Venice was unbeknownst to them. "My grandfather was Italian. I'm going to be staying with an aunt." This was a lie, since she was pretty sure that her father didn't have siblings. Not that she knew for sure, as Jane rarely talked about Gabriel.

"That's so cool," said Xander, "You, know, having relatives in different parts of the world."

"Isn't your mom Scandinavian?" Nicolai asked Xander, "I thought I heard her say she was Finnish."

"She is. The Edgecombs. But we barely have any relatives there... My cousins are in the United States, I think." Xander pondered a bit, before averting back to Florence, "Why do you have to stay with your Aunt, though? Is your mum in trouble or something?"

"No, it's nothing like that," she said, "But she'll be really busy and all... She's even bringing Emmy along with me."

"Do you have to stay for the whole summer?" Nicolai pouted, "Because that sucks so much. We won't get to hang out and have sleepovers like we used to."

"We could do that when I get back? I'm sure mum would let me go home a few weeks before school starts...you know, to pack up and prepare. We could hang out then...And plus, I'll write to you two, as much as I can, and send you guys postcards as well."

"Well you better," said Xander, "Considering you're leaving me with this mess." He said, subtly cocking his head sideways as if pointing at Nicolai.

"You two best not kill each other while I'm gone."

"No promises."

Florence didn't like not getting to spend the summer with her friends, she realized, as soon as she said goodbye to them. And the fact that she couldn't tell them the real reason why made it a lot worse. If only she could tell them about the crazier side of her life.

But on the bright side, Florence was going to spend the summer with Fred and George, which meant her days would be anything but dull. She couldn't wait, and wondered if the knew as well.

By the time she had came home, there were visitors in her house. She hesitated going in at first, thinking that they were Ministry Workers, again trying to pester her mum, until she saw a familiar face in the small group.

"Professor Moody?" she questioned. Ofcourse he was part of the Order...The real Moody, at least, who was half leaning onto his staff while his magical eye was darting in every possible direction, "What are you guys doing here?"

He looked slightly bewildered, looking over to Jane and back at Florence, "Ah, yes, your daughter. We haven't formally met... Alastor Moody. You'll be seeing me around a lot this summer. These are my fellow Order collegues, Miss Emmeline Vance, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and my Auror protégé, Nymphadora Tonks."

The girl with the bright pink hair, Nymphadora, looked slightly abashed with the mention of her name, "Call me Dora, or Tonks. I'm not particularly fond of my full name."

"My niece," said Sirius, patting Dora on the shoulder, "She's my cousin Andromeda's daughter. Lovely isn't she?"

"They'll be transporting Sirius to headquarters safely without causing any suspicion to rouse. You, me and Remus will follow first thing tomorrow." Jane explained, "So you best make sure that all the things you need are ready."

"Shacklebolt, Vance, take care of the Hippogriff," Moody instructed, helping Sirius carry his bags.

Florence bade Sirius and his band of bodyguards goodbye, developing a liking towards Tonks even with the littlest time they've spent together. She was almost certain that she was going to be fun to be around.
