(60) Midnight Mischiefs

"So... are you going to tell me where we're going yet?" Florence inquired, the tip of her wand illuminated. It was dark, and cold, as the air was slowly getting chillier by the passing days. Fred was walking infront of her, along with George who crept through the halls as quietly as they could.

"It's not where you should be asking, it's what we're going to do," Fred whispered back. This was the second time that she was out of bed past curfew, and with the same people too. She turned to George, an alarmed look on her face.

"Please don't tell me that we're out here to do midnight pranks." she whispered dreadfully, George flashing her a smile, "You really are smart."

"Fred?! George? Need I remind you that I am not okay with this? I don't want to get house points taken off!"

"Don't worry," he chuckled, "We got lucky last time, remember? Didn't get any house points taken off."

"That's because it was Professor Lupin who caught us out in the hall," she reminded them, "And this time it won't be Professor Lupin any more."

"Aw, look how adorable you are," cooed Fred, "You know you can be such a Ravenclaw at times.."

"I swear to Merlin," she whispered sharply to her boyfriend—yes, she still found it weird thinking of him that way, "If we get in trouble,"

"Oh but we will make trouble, that's what we actually came to do" started Fred, "But we won't get in trouble if we don't get caught," finished George.

"Absolute lunatics, you two."

"Think of this as an initiation, Florence Price. You're one of us now, since you're dating my brother," said George, "This is simply to test if you're deserving—"

"George," said Fred, displeased with his choice of words.

"I'm only joking, obviously. But this is your way of life now. Might as well just get used to it."

Florence huffed, "Fine... Just, let's get this over and done with as soon as possible, yeah?" The twins beamed like children on christmas morning, Fred clasping Florence's hand as they tiptoed quietly down another corridor.

"Oh come on, not old Filch again," she told them, as George tried to soundlessly open the door to his sleeping quarters, "Honestly can't you two pick on someone else?"

"We're not picking on him," Fred whispered back, as softly as he could as the three of them tiptoed quietly into the room. Mrs. Norris was asleep on a dusty pillow, three feet beside a sleeping Filch, "He insulted Peeves awhile ago. And George and I didn't think it was fair."

Florence rolled her eyes, "He's a poltergeist, who does despicable things, I may add."

"Yeah? But he still has feelings. Now put this over yourself." he pulled out a gray cloak from the bag that he was carrying. Florence looked at it skeptically, "What's this supposed to be?"

"Just put it over yourself. It does wonders."

She did, and with that, the lower half of her body promptly disappeared. Fred clamped a hand over her mouth before she got the chance to scream.

"Where did you even find an invisibility cloak?" she whispered back, as Fred and George set up the dungbombs all over the floor, one directly infront of Mrs. Norris' face as well.

"We have our friends," one of them explained vaguely. "So, when one of these go off, so do the others. George and I tampered with them so that we'd have the time to escape before it went off. You put the cloak over yourself then, incase Filch gets a glimpse of us, he won't see you."

She kept staring at her now invisible body in disbelief, before nodding her head.

The twins were fast in setting things up, which made her wonder exactly how often they pulled midnight pranks on Filch.

There were exactly thirty-six dugbombs on Filch's floor, all lined up strategically, as usual. Fred stepped back, grinning as Florence unveiled herself from under the cloak, "Well, what now?"

"You do the honors," they said simultaneously, a look of disapproval growing on Florence's face, "I thought you two were going to keep me out of this?"

"Nope, it's your initiation. So if you please, set off whichever dungbomb you would like. The rest will follow."

"Just a flick of a wand. Go on."

Florence hesitated before she pointed at the dungbomb that was farthest away from them with her wand, giving it a small flick.

Everything had started exploding, Fred yanking her out of the room as the loud popping made Filch jump up awake in alarm.

The next thing they knew was that they were running down the hallways, stifled laughter as they picked up their paces—unsure of whether Filch was still chasing them or not.

"See?" said Fred, once the three of them were sure that they were in the clear, George pulling off the cloak from Florence, rolling it up before tucking it into the bag. "That wasn't so bad, was it?" he asked Florence, who was still trying to regain her breath.

"Doesn't mean it was all too good either." she huffed, making the twins laugh.

"Congratulations, Price! You now have the permission to date my brother—ow." George scowled, rubbing the spot where Fred had hit him in mid speech.

"As eventful as this night was," said Florence, "It's a school night. So you best take me back to my commons so I could sleep even for a few hours."

George patted his brother's shoulder in good nature, "I'll see you in a bit, Freddie. You too, Florence. Good night." he said, Fred stopping him before he got any further.

"Hang on, where are you going?" he asked his twin brother, who gave him a look. "Back to or commons, obviously."

"Aren't we going to take Florence up to the Ravenclaw tower first?"

"No, you are," he clarified, "You know? It's called boyfriend duties. And I figured I should give you two some alone time. Don't want to be bother by the third wheel now, do you?" he said in feigned sadness, Florence chortling at his actions.

"A bit too melodramatic, yeah?" said Fred.

"You're never a bother, Georgie."

"Yeah, I am. But that's a well known fact," he said, "Still, I'll leave Freddie to it. The upside is I get a bit more sleep than he does."

"Hey!"

"Tata!" he waved, before heading to the opposite direction.

"Oh George," Florence chuckled, as she and Fred started walking to her commons. "Wonder when he'd meet the girl of his dreams..."

"Or boy," said Fred, "I'd be absolutely supportive either way." he beamed.

"As you should. I'll tell you, though, I have a strong feeling that he's secretly dating Lee Jordan."

Fred laughed, "I think so, too. They fed each other spoonfuls of pudding last Tuesday. If you ask me that gave all of it away."

"So it's settled, then. We're secretly going to support Leorge."

"Definitely."

It took a few good minuted for them to reach the Ravenclaw commons, Florence gingerly pecking a small kiss on Fred's lips before they bade each other good night.

She headed in, with the biggest smile on her face, only to find Nicolai still up and awake, lounging by the fireplace.

"Where have you been, missy?" she asked, setting her book down on to her lap. Florence chuckled, joining her on the royal blue loveseat.

"I was just with Fred—"

Nicolai's eyes widened, "Okay, then you don't have to give details about what happened or I'm going to puke right here and right now."

Florence scowled at her, "Nothing like that! Merlin, get your head out of the gutter. George was with us as well. They just took me with them to watch them set off dungbombs all over Filch's room."

"Nice," Nicolai whistled, amused. She pulled out an envelope that was wedged in her book. "By the way, you got a letter from your mum—er, I'm not really sure if it's from your mum since the handwriting looked really off. But it was delivered by your family owl so who else could have sent it, right?"

Florence panicked slightly, knowing that the letter was probably from either Sirius or Remus—and Nicolai knew nothing about them staying at her house.

"Did you open it?"

"Nah," said Nicola, seeing the frantic look on Florence's face as she took it from her grasps, "Why? Is it important, the letter? Is something happening back home?" she asked in concern.

"No, no. Everything's fine. I just panicked for awhile since I remembered that I haven't written to my mum yet since we got back. Thanks for the concern, Nic."

"No worries," she smiled, before letting out a long yawn, that made Florence yawn as well, "We better get some sleep now." she said, standing up from the couch.

"Yeah," said Florence, "I'll follow in a moment." Nicolai nodded, heading up the girl's dormitories.

Only did Florence open the envelope when Nicolai was out of earshot, flinging the envelope into the fire as she took out the letter, unfolding it quickly.

Dearest Florence,

It's either you've dissolved into thin air or you just forgot about your old uncle padfoot. I was expecting a letter from you, but I realized that you're probably starting to get busy at school. Hence why I decided to write to you first. I heard that there will be no Quidditch this year? Bummer, really. I was looking forward to hearing about your matches with your new broom.

Anyways, I have been at home with Moony and your mum as usual. She is still not letting me out of the house, and threatened me that if I'd try to leave the house in animagus form again, she'd leash me, or get me one of those dog shots from muggle animal doctors. It sounds scary. Because of this, I grew very fond of your mum's cat, Miss Mimsy. She is a very angelic thing, I'll tell you. I still don't know why you call her a devil's spawn.

Write back as soon as you can, we all miss you here (and write to your mum, too. She just said that)

Lots of Love,

Snuffles
