Twenty

Today was the weekend and I was watching over my nephew, Dwight, while Amira was taking a bath.

For a turning five year old toddler, he is indeed tall. His fairly white complexion has indeed came from Eric's.

Me and my sisters are fair as well but this baby, his father, has a super white skin. Tinalo pa ang papel sa puti!

"Yes po, Tita?" Dwight asked, his blue eyes bore into mine and I smiled and shook my head.

"Kumain ka na? Do you want some Pringles?" I asked and his eyes shone in excitement as he nodded.

"Katatapos ko lang po mag-almusal kanina! Pwede po ako mag-Pringles?" He asked sounding somewhat unsure.

"Of course! Just don't tell your mom." I winked at him and he clapped enthusiastically.

I stood up and went to the refrigerator to get the snack we both love to share. Once I had gotten it, I made sure that his glass is already filled with water just like mine.

"I'll help you, Tita!" He exclaimed and jumped from the couch to approach me and get the pringles from my arms.

I chuckled with his enthusiasm and we both sat on the couch to watch his favorite cartoons. We can still hear Amira in the shower and we immediately stuffed our mouth with the snack.

I know Amira doesn't approve of it but it's only for a while and I also don't want my nephew to be addicted to junk foods. She made a rule with Dwight and in front of us that he can only eat such junk foods with either one of us. And, he was fine with it.

Also, Dwight is more of the healthy type of kid. His preferences are more on pineapples, mangoes and apples. Which is good for him.

I sighed and my eyes rested on my cellphone where I have stored Eric's number. I have already contacted his secretary and I wanted to know why he left my sister and didn't even cared to see his son after five years.
I am scheduled to meet him at two o' clock this afternoon at Shadow Bar and Casino around two hours away from here.

"Oh, sarap ng kain ni baby ah!" Amira commented as she walked towards us from her bedroom.

Dwight's eyes widened and he covered his mouth while looking at his mom sheepishly.

"Sorry, Mmoommy." He mumbled, still stuffed with food in his mouth.

"Ano?" Amira asked, pretending not to hear.

I could almost giggle at Dwight's reaction when he chewed his food and swallowed it before he answered her again, "I'm sorry, Mom. Hindi na po ulit mauulit."

Amira smiled and ruffled his hair before she sat down in front of him. I almost cooed when she said to him, "it's fine, baby. Just do not eat junk, everyday, okay? And drink lots of water."

I cannot believe my sister can be this sweet with her son. I am used to her being nice whenever she feels like it and not everyday.

I guess Dwight really brought a breath of fresh air to us. He made us learn to appreciate and treasure each other more.

"Sya nga pala, Amira, I'm going out later but hindi naman ako magpapagabi." I said while looking at her.

Amara nodded and she casually combed Dwight's hair before she sat down beside him to face the television.

"If you happen to pass by the drug store, please buy me some antihistamine, sis." Amira said when she saw me dressed and about to go out in the afternoon.

"Okay, sis." I said and adjusted the strap of my sling bag. I checked my bag if I have my phone, house keys and wallet with me before I get out of the house. "Alis na ko!"

"Ingat!" Amira shouted and I hailed a jeepney bound to the mall. I will just ride a bus there.

Once I had paid my fare to the bus conductor, I sighed and checked the time. I had my early lunch by eleven and I doubt that I will get there at exactly two in the afternoon.

True enough, the sky started to get dark and rain began pouring from the skies. I shivered remembering I forgot to bring umbrella with me.

I clung to my bag on my lap before I checked the person who sat beside me. The guy has his cap on and I can barely see his face.

My forehead frowned as I felt the same feeling whenever Jacob is around.

I shook my head at the mere thought of him.

Seriously, Amara? Hindi makamove-on?

"Looks like hindi mo nadala ang payong mo.." came the voice of the person beside me.

I felt like I swallowed a lump in my throat when I realized that it really was Jacob sitting beside me.

I blinked and I slowly looked at him smiling at me.

"It's been awhile, Amara." He said and from there, I knew that this is gonna be a long two hour ride to SBC.
