Four

"Hey, sis! Kumusta ka dyan?" Amira's voice boomed in the then- quiet room of mine when I woke up.

I have been absent for two days and I am regretting it.

I am missing loads of lessons and money!

I am a scholar and I cannot afford to just lay here on my bed and do nothing!

"Eto. Medyo okay okay na." I said in a bored voice.

I put her on speaker and stretched my arms.

"Mabuti naman! Gagabihin ako ng uwi, kapatid. Sasaluhin ko shift ni Adele." Amira said.

"Palagi mo na lang sinasalo shift ng iba. Baka ikaw naman magkasakit nyan ha, knock on wood." I warned her and yawned.

"I know when to stop and rest, sis. No worries." Amira answered back.

I can hear the sound of coffee being put in a container and suddenly I am craving for it.

"Sige na. May customer na kame. Love you sis. See you tonight." With that, Amira hung up and I glanced at the clock.

9:45 AM, it says. Almost ten.

On cue, my stomach growled in response.

My head still feels heavy and I struggled to get up and have my breakfast.

I went out of my room and was about to go to my bathroom to brush my teeth when I heard our doorbell rang.

With us three living alone without our so-called dad, we did not bother to have a helper or anyone to tend to our needs.

We chose to live independently.

We still have our trust fund and we really keep it on budget.

Plus we have our part time jobs to keep us alive.

I ran to the door and was about to ask who it was when I blinked at the figure in front of me.

"So, dito ka pala talaga nakatira?" Jacob asked and gave me a smirk.

It's Wednesday and a school day.

He is my classmate and it is a shock to see him here.

At my doorstep.

"Ano ginagawa mo dito? H-how did you know where I live?" I asked in disbelief.

As if Jacob didn't hear me, he went straight to their dining table and removed his biker jacket.

I checked outside our house to see if someone saw him entered my home before closing the door.

"Hey! Hindi pa kita pinapapasok! Ano ginagawa mo dito?" I asked and followed him to the dining area.

Jacob whistled singsongingly and unloaded the paper bag he was holding which I did not notice earlier.

He took out a bucket of chicken from a famous fastfood chain. He, then, took out the gravy and I hurried to the dishwasher and got us two plates and two pairs of utensils.

He also opened the fridge and placed something in the freezer.

I frowned.

This guy really feels as if this is his home, huh.

He pulled his sleeves up his biceps and I looked away.

How can he be this cruel to my eyes?

Does he have to be sinfully appealing to me?

No way!

Alexa likes him!

Hindi pwede!

May grades akong dapat i-maintain!

I cannot afford to be this distracted!

I watched him pulled out a chair for me and he raised an eyebrow at me.

"What are you doing?" I asked again.

"Take a seat, baby." Jacob said and as if in trance, I silently followed his order.

"Susunod din pala. Ang dami pang satsat." I heard him mumble and it was my turn to raise an eyebrow at him.

He got me my favorite part of the chicken: the chicken breast and gave me a generous amount of gravy.

My mouth instantly watered in hunger and craving.

I heard him let out a light chuckle and I blinked.

"Eat up then take your medicine." Jacob said and took care of himself.

Soon, we were busy munching on the chicken and gave ourselves another serving of rice.

Buti na lang pala nagsaing si Amaris bago pumasok kanina.

Shortly after, he stood up and started to clear our plates.

I held his hand and cleared my throat.

"Ako na. Ako na ang maghuhugas. You already set the table and bought food for us." I said and our eyes met.

"Okay. As you wish. But first. Uminom ka na ng gamot mo. Bago kita hayaan sa gagawin mo." Jacob said.

I immediately ran upstairs to my room and grabbed my medicine.

I was about to get my water after I swallowed the medicine when I saw Jacob finished washing the plates.

Jacob grinned at me.

"Jacoob!" I groaned helplessly.

I should have known!

Hindi ko sya dapat iniwan dito sa baba!
