Director

Jeongguk giggles cheerfully as he finally reaches the door to his "lover's" apartment, unlocking the door and slipping inside unseen.

"Let's get to work." Jeongguk hums, a cheek splitting grin plastered on his face as he re-locks the door and tugs it three times.

He slips on his signature black latex gloves and removes his shoes, carefully setting them on the linoleum by the door.

The black haired man pulls his mask up over his face and pulls his baseball cap tighter onto his head.

He strategically opens a few cabinets and gathers all the supplies he needs, knowing exactly where Taehyung kept everything from months of watching.

He pulls a large black wok out of the cabinet located under the stovetop, flipping it around in his hands, examining it carefully before nodding contentedly.

Jeongguk sets the wok on the electric stove and reaches down, flicking the knob to high heat, watching as the burner begins to glow a deep red. He then opens the fridge and takes out some chives and other leafy greens, three eggs, and a packet of ramen. He sets them aside for the moment and reaches into his backpack, retrieving the star of the show; a large cut of beef and a jar of top-tier bulgogi sauce.

He chuckles to himself as he also brings a bottle of Katsu sauce out- knowing that Taehyung loved dousing all of his food in the sweet and spicy liquid.

Jeongguk hums a pretty little tune- which happens to be Taehyung's favorite song- to himself as he begins work on dinner.

"Kim, over here please." One of Taehyung coworkers calls, Taehyung recalls his name as Woojin.

"Yeah? What is it?" The red haired boy questioned as he drew closer to the co-camera director.

"Well, with Jen's sudden absence I was wondering if you could take over the positioning?" Woojin asked sweetly, smiling.

"P-positioning? As in directing the models?! I'm not qualified for that!" Taehyung shrieks, quickly brining his hands up to cover his mouth as Woojin throws his head back with laughter.

"Taehyung Kim, we both know you are more than qualified to be a full time model director. Possibly more qualified than Jen. She only stayed on stop because she was close to the old boss and hung it over everyone's head." The honey-brown haired man explained, slowly focusing his attention back onto his camera.

"So go. You can do it." The man finished before waving Taehyung off onto the main floor and giving his full attention to the image his camera was capturing.

Taehyung gulped hard and looked around quickly, as if he were afraid someone would soon bust into the shoot and tell him to leave, or that he was an imposter. Luckily his eyes found Jimin and Hoseok instead, both smiling while Hoseok was giving the boy two thumbs-up.

Taehyung breathed in slowly and tried to remind himself that he knew what he was doing... even if he never had hands on experience.

"Are you Director Kim? The fill in for Jen?"  A perky female voice piped up, causing Taehyung to turn around sharply.

He made eye contact with one of their most famous models, Jisoo Kim. She looked up expectantly for an answer, her eyes glinted with a mix of curiosity and excitement.

"Director Kim?" Taehyung repeated in a trance like state. Something about that title made his position there feel so real. It sent a wave of confidence washing over his insides.

He straightened his shoulders and announced a little too loudly, "Yep! That's me! The fill in director! Pleasure to work with you!"

Jisoo smiles brightly at the young boys enthusiasm and extended her hand, Taehyung shaking it immediately. "Pleasure to work with you too, Director. Jimin has told me all about your eye for beauty and aesthetics. It should be a fun shoot, no?"

Taehyung's cheeks heated up slightly at the praise his best friend had passed on to the fellow models. "A-ah well I'm not that great but I'll try my best!"

Jisoo giggled and patted the barely-taller's shoulder comfortingly, "you'll do great TaeTae." Taehyung smiles back before freezing.

"How'd you-"

"Jimin told me. Sorry if it's weird for me to use it!" She explained, smile never wavering. "You're just so cute and adorable I couldn't help using the nickname."

Taehyung wavered for a moment before brushing off the compliment, "No! It's okay, all my friends call me that so I guess we're friends now!" Taehyung's boxy smile widened before he moved across the floor to get a good look at the setup.

Serious mode clicked in Taehyung's mind as his brain worked at a thousand miles an hour, examining which spot would be best for the model to stand. Which stance would be best. What facial expression would get the right impression across. What lighting would really sell.

"Okay, Jisoo. Stand right over there, hands on your hips, fingers pointing forwards though. Lighting-" Taehyung snapped his fingers as he gave his directions, "move the Bokeh lights down slightly, I want a nice shadow cast across the left side of her face.... good just like that.... makeup, more blush please. Good. Okay wardrobe, you see that right?  Her dress hem is all askew, are we trying to sell clothes here or make people avoid them? This is a shoot for a dress ad not a dumpster fire."

Jimin and Hoseoks smile almost reached their ears as they tried to contain their laughter towards the shock of the crew at this unseen attitude of Taehyung's.

As his best friends they had seen his serious mode in action all the time, doing important assignment, presenting in class, even just desk work. He took his job very seriously.

The crew moved quickly, trying their best to keep up with every order from the short director, finally stopping to catch their breathe when Taehyung snapped, deciding the shot would be good enough.

"Woojin, would you care to?" The redhead spoke without looking at the boy he addressed, knowing he was listening.

Woojin nodded to no one in particular and adjusted the camera angle just the way Taehyung had instructed earlier. Finger finally pushing the capture.

Taehyung heard the click and immediately spun to look at the outcome. Smirking confidently as the production staff gasped at the beautiful scene.

A perfect A shoot on the first try.

Taehyung gave a few more poses to Jisoo and Woojin worked quickly to capture the pictures.

In under 10 minutes "Director Kim" had directed a nearly perfect photo shoot.

"Maybe Jen shouldnt come back..."
"We'll actually get to go home on time if he keeps this up."
"These are fantastic, exactly what our client wanted."
Taehyung Jimin and Hoseok heard the staff whisper among themselves, his friends patting the boy on the back with pride.

Quick footsteps approached from behind and Taehyung turned to see who it was, coming face to face once again with Jisoo.

"Ah- Jisoo you did wonderful-" Taehyung began before he was cut off by a hug and a chaste kiss on the cheek, catching him off guard.

"That was amazing Director Kim, you have real talent. It helps that you yourself are gorgeous. That was the best shoot I've ever done. Watching you direct is kind of hot." She smiled, almost too widely. Her eyes as wide as her grin.

Taehyung opened his mouth to speak but was unsure what to say, her words could be taken as friendly, but her expression was definitely off putting.

Jisoo laughed and slapped him on the shoulder, "it was a joke silly! Catch you later!"

Taehyung nodded, uttering a small "see ya," not letting the way she trailed her arm down to his bicep, squeezing slightly, go unnoticed.

She turned and left out the side door and Taehyung turned back to his friends slowly.

"Did you see that?" He asked, very taken aback.

"See what?" Jimin questioned innocently, turning his attention away from his phone to his friend.

Taehyung pauses before answering, "nothing."

He gathers up the few belongings he brought with him and bids his farewells to the crew, exiting out the front door.

Taehyung makes his way down the grey streets of New York, blissfully unaware of the wild eyes following his every move from behind.
