"Oh gosh, what happened?"
Esther questioned, as she walked to the tour bus bathroom
Mitch, Kirstie, and Scott were all packed in the tiny space
But, Scott was on his knees. Head slumped over the toilet.
"I don't know...he was fine, and then he got really pale."
Mitch said as he rubbed Scott's back, not knowing what to do
"I feel sick again..."
Scott whispered, looking up at Mitch
"We're all right here, Scott. It's alright, if you do."
Kirstie said, not wanting him to feel embarrassed
You could see the fear in his eyes
"I-I feel-like-"
Scott heaved a few more times, coughing hard. Soon enough he started to vomit. Everyone looked away but, kept their hands on him. Trying to comfort Scott. When he stopped, there were tears falling down his face. He wiped is eyes, and his mouth. They all were really concerned.
"Scott do you want to lay down, sweetheart?"
Esther questioned, wanting to clear out the restroom
He nodded as he stood up
"Okay then, let's have you lay on the couch, where we can watch you."
Scott moped over to the couch, flopping down on it like a fish. Anyone who knew him personally could tell he was under the weather. The sparkles in his ocean blue eyes were gone. Esther walked away, radioing the crew to be on stand-by. They've never had to cancel a show.
"Guy's, let's be on stand-by. Scott just got sick. Over."
Mitch came up to Scott with the Thermometer in hand
"Scotty, I hate to see you like this."
"I-I hate feeling like this."
Scott rasped out, coughing
"I know, I know you do. Open wide."
Mitch opened his mouth, as if he was trying to make a child open up
"Scott, open. Good."
They waited for the beep
"There's the beep. Okay, let's see."
Mitch looked at the numbers on the small screen
"102.3. You have a fever."
"Ugh."
Scott wined, rolling over on the couch
"Kirstie, he needs meds. Where are they?"
"They should be in the medicine cabinet."
Kirstin replied, as she covered Scott with a light blanket
"Okay...um..."
Mitch looked through the medicine cabinet
"Will Advil work?"
"Yeah, that's fine."
He poured the liquid into the cup
"Scott, sit up."
"Whyyy?"
Mitch rolled his eyes, Scott's so winey when he's ill
"You need to take these meds, it'll bring your fever down."
Scott didn't move, so Mitch had roll him over himself
Which is harder than you'd think
"I won't have to workout, moving you is enough."
He giggled, stopping when Scott's hand went to his stomach
"Scott, what's wrong?"
Scott looked around, trying to find a trashcan
"Crap. Are you going to be sick again??"
Mitch questioned, receiving a nod from Scott
There wasn't a trashcan in sight
"Up, come on, you need to get to the bathroom."
No time
Scott could no longer help it, and he started to throw up all over the outfit he was wearing. Thankfully Mitch moved the blanket out of the way. Mitch had a terrified look on his face. Neither of them knew what to do. Kirstie came back in from the front of the bus, shocked.
"Oh my gosh..."
"Kirstie, I don't know what to do."
"I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Scott apologized, after semi recovering
"No, No, don't be sorry. There was no choice."
Kirstie had opened Scott's bunk, looking for new clothes. Mitch grabbed a few towels to help Scott clean up a bit. Then, he started a shower for him. This was not an easy task. He was about to cry. Tears forming.
"Mitch, I'm sorry, I couldn't even feel it coming until it was too late."
"I know, you don't need to be sorry. We all know it was an accident."
"It's so gross..."
"Scott, you still haven't taken those meds."
"Well they'll just come back up anyway."
Mitch didn't know if he should give him the medication now, afraid he'd bring it back up. He really did need to take the medication, to lower the fever. Mitch decided to go ahead. Not wanting to risk him getting worse.
"Here, just take the meds."
"But, I don't want to throw them up, Mitchy."
"Hopefully, they will take action before it comes back up."
Reluctantly, Scott took the medication
"Okay, good. Come on, I'll start the shower for you."
Scott followed Mitch into the bathroom, as he started the shower. After letting it warm up for a few minutes, he stepped into the shower. This would also give Mitch enough time to clean up the couch.
"Scott, yell for me if you need anything."
"I will."
Mitch left the bathroom, almost running into Esther
"Hey, where's Scott?"
"He's in the shower."
"Oh, did he get sick again??"
"Yeah. All over himself.
Esther frowned, following him to the couch as he continued to clean
"I'm not sure if we should cancel or not."
"Scott has no energy. Honestly, I don't think he can do it tonight."
"Well, is it food poisoning?"
"I don't think so, he had a fever of 102."
"Okay...well, let's watch him until we get to the venue. Then decide."
"Alright, works for me."
Mitch heard the water turn off, and the shower door closing
"Kirstie, did you find him anything to wear?"
"Yeah, here."
She handed him basketball shorts and a tee shirt
"Thanks."
Mitch knocked on the bathroom door
"Scott, it's just me. I have your clothes. Can I come in?"
"Y-Yeah."
When he entered the bathroom, Mitch's heart melted. Scott was standing there, shaking like a leaf with his towel wrapped around his waist. Mitch grabbed a second towel, trying to warm Scott up.
"I bet you're so cold."
"F-F-Freezing."
"Let's get you warmed up."
Mitch dried him off then, he helped Scott get dressed
"You are all warm and dressed but, still shaking."
"S-So---"cough---cough" c-cold."
"I'm sorry, Scotty. Let's go back to the couch."
Scott laid back down as fast as possible, grabbing the blanket
"How are you feeling, Scott?"
Kirstie questioned, checking in
"Worse."
"Aww. I'm sorry, Scotty. Here, let's check your temp."
Scott didn't fight it this time
"I'll take it out when it beeps..."
Once the sound rang, she pulled it out
"103.1."
"Crap, it's higher."
Mitch interjected, very nervously
"W-What--cough--cough--are we going to do??"
Scott questioned, looking up at Mitch and Kirstie
"What are you talking about, Scotty?"
"I'm talking about the show tonight."
Mitch and Kirstie looked at each other
"Scott, we're going to have to cancel. I mean, Esther hasn't made "the choice yet" but, there is no way you can go onto a stage. Scott, you can't even walk well. Let alone dance for 1hr and a half. It's not possible."
"What about the fans?? They all travel so far."
"I know. But, we can reschedule."
"I don't want to reschedule. I want to do it tonight."
"Well, that's not happening. Don't work yourself up or-"
Scott grabbed the trashcan
"You'll make yourself..sick again."
He started to throw up again, he was getting worse
"It's okay, Scotty. You're fine. Kirstie, can you come here?"
"Yeah, what's up? Oh he's sick again?"
"Yeah. I need to talk to Esther. Can you watch him??"
"Of course, I got him."
"Okay. I'll be back in a second."
Mitch walked away, trying to find Esther
"Es??"
"Hey, what's up?? How's Scott???"
"He's worse. Fever of 103.1. More throwing up. We need to cancel."
It was only 10 AM, so fans hadn't made it to the venue yet
"Yeah, we're trying to. I'm Just trying to reschedule it first."
"Okay. Thanks, he's sad. But, for the best."
Kirstie had started to feel a little bit hot and sweaty. Thinking it was because, she had been up helping Mitch care for Scott all morning. Then the blonde started to feel..queasy. She pushed that off as nerves. Her body became shaky too. Kirstie didn't have time to alert anyone else before grabbing Scott's sick bin. Starting to throw up, herself.
Mitch was on his way back when he heard gaging, thinking it was Scott
"Kirstie, I think Scott is getting sick-"
Mitch said, turning around. Gasping when he realized it was Kirstie.
"Oh, oh, oh....oh no."
Scott opened his eyes, watching the situation go down
He just flopped his head down. Knowing they'd have to cancel tonight.
"I'm going to go tell...Esther."
As Mitch went to turn around, Esther was right there
"Tell me what?"
He moved himself to the side, revealing a sick Kirstie
"Oh my gosh...it's spreading."
"I-It just came on so fast."
Kirstie said, wiping her mouth
Mitch had already grabbed her pillow and blanket from her bunk
"Here."
"Thank you."
Mitch grabbed his own blanket, placing himself between both of the sickies. Scott's head found it's self on Mitch's lap. Kirstie's head laying on his shoulder. It was quiet. Too quiet. But, not for long.
Time Skip: 1 Hour Later
Every 10 minutes or so, one of them would get sick
"Scotty, are you feeling sick?"
He nodded
"Here, here."
Scott grabbed the trashcan, heaving into it
Kirstie was asleep but, her grinding stomach woke her up. Quickly, her head was pulled off of Mitch's shoulder. She started to get sick again.
"I hate to see anyone like this. Especially you guys."
Mitch grabbed the ponytail tie off her wrist, putting her hair in a bun
"There. It's not in the way anymore."
"Mitchy, my throat is so dry."
Scott said, rubbing his throat
"Here, try this."
Mitch gave him a sip of sprite
"Did that help?"
Scott picked up the trashcan, as it came up immediately
"You aren't keeping anything down. Neither of you can."
They had been sick all morning, without retaining any fluids
"I'll be right back."
Mitch said, getting up off the couch walking up to their driver and Esther
"We got it rescheduled. July 11th."
"Good. I think we need to go to the ER."
"Really, why? I thought this was just a stomach bug."
"It is. But, they are both dehydrated. Can't keep anything down."
"Okay, I'm glad you caught that. Can you head to the closest hospital?"
Esther asked the bus driver
"Yes."
"I'll help you get them ready, Mitch."
"Alright."
They both made it to the back of the bus
"I'll grab her shoes."
"Okay, I'll get Scott's."
"Shoes?? For what?"
"Kirst, we're going to the ER."
"What? Why?"
Scott questioned
"You guys are both very dehydrated. You need fluids."
"But-"
"No but's, Scott. Put them on."
By the time Kirstie and Mitch got their shoes on, they had arrived
"We're here!"
"Okay, let's go in."
Scott was staggering around so, Mitch held onto him
While Esther helped Kirstie
"Mitch, I'll go sign them in. Maybe they'll take them back sooner."
Time Skip: 30 Minutes Later
Soon enough, they were called back
The ER room's were split by curtains
Which meant they were right next to each other
After doing a few tests, they were given IV fluids
"Are you guys okay in here?"
Mitch questioned, wanting to check on Scott
"Yes, we're good. Go."
Esther said, sitting down next to Kirstie
"Okay. I'll be back soon."
Mitch pulled back the curtain, seeing Scott laying there
"I just gave him some Zofran, it will stop the vomiting."
The nurse said
"Okay, good."
"Also, IV fluids because he's very dehydrated."
Mitch looked back at Scott, seeing the IV in his arm
"Just hit the nurse call button in you need anything."
"I will, thank you."
The nurse walked out, leaving Mitch and Scott alone
"How are you feeling, Scotty?"
"I'm okay, the needle hurt though."
"You're tough."
"True."
"But, you did give me a scare, Scotty. Well, you both did."
"I know, I was even scared."
"Well, now everything is just fine. So don't worry, Scotty."
"I'm not going to worry. Which means you can't either, Mitchy."
"Oh, I can't?"
"Nope! Deal?"
"Deal."
