BTW: This was edited on 11/27/19 bc @Rose_Taber suggested I add more to this story!
Age: Cora is 15
Scott: Daddy
Mitch: Dad
"Good Moring my beautiful sunshine!"
Scott says as he wakes up his teenage daughter, Cora. She is normally a very happy morning person but today she doesn't seem to be herself. She looks very tired even though she went to bed early last night.
"Ughhhh...daddy, I don't feel good."
"What hurts, Cora?"
"Um..my head hurts but, I have to go to school so it doesn't matter anyway. I have a really hard english test today and I can't miss it, just grab me some medication and I will be fine."
Cora says as she tries to get up out of bed but, Scott makes her lay back down. He needs to grab the thermometer so he can check her temperature, then he will chat with Mitch and let him know about her not feeling well.
"Hang on, I'm going to get the thermometer, I will be back in just a second."
"N-No, you don't need to get that I'm fine...I promise!"
"Cora, we don't want to repeat what happened last time when you went to school sick."
"Dad, what could you possibly be talking about?"
"Remember when you went to school sick and didn't tell us you felt bad? Well, you ended up getting so dehydrated that you fainted and threw up everywhere at the School. That's not going to happen again, not on my watch."
"B-But I have a test-"
Cora says as one of her two dads walked out of her bedroom to go get the thermometer. Cora hopes that she's not too sick and can go to school today. Scott on the other hand knew that she most likely won't make it to the front door.
"Hey, Mitchy."
Scott said as he entered the kitchen, Mitch is currently cooking breakfast because he is a good breakfast maker and Scott can vouch as the food he makes is always wonderful.
"Hey babe, these pancakes are almost done."
Mitch says as he flips the pancakes, Scott can't cook at all so mitch doesn't mind to make all of the food in this household. Mitch watches as his husband walks over to the medicine cabinet that is never a good thing.
"Are you not feeling well, honey bunny?"
"No, I'm fine. It's just that Cora's not feeling good, she just told me that she has a headache."
"That's odd, she was fine last night."
Scott said as he opened the medicine cabinet and grabbed the thermometer out of it, while he does that Mitch moves the pancakes onto 3 white plates. He and Mitch both start walking to their daughters bedroom. She looks even more I'll than she had 5 minutes ago if that is even possible. Mitch walked up to Cora's bed and comforted her while Scott took her temperature.
"Oh, baby girl. What hurts, sweet pea?"
"I-It's just my head, but I'm fine this is all really uncalled for-"
"No it's not, open your mouth so daddy can check your temperature."
"Does she have a fever, honey?"
Mitch questions as Scott looked at the thermometer, wanting to know if Cora should stay home from School today. Because if Cora has a fever there is no way that Scott and Mitch are going to send her to School today.
"Yeah, she has a fever of 101.1."
"It's fine, just give me some fever reducers and I will be able to make it through the day."
Cora said as she tries to get up again but, she is pushed gently back down again by both of her dads. Mitch rubbed his hand up and down on Cora's back, she seemed quite upset about having to miss school today.
"No, honey. You cannot go to school with a fever, it's not allowed and the school will just send you back home anyway."
"What's got you so upset, honey?"
Scott asks as he can also tell that Cora is mad about having to miss a day of school, normally any kid would be sort of happy that they get a day off. Mitch and Scott are both now sitting on each side of her bed, trying to comfort their sick daughter. Cora began to cry, it shocked her parents because she never does that.
"I'm just going to miss a huge English test! It's worth half of my whole entire grade and if I have to make it up my teacher might be mad at me because, she is strict and mean."
"It's okay, sweetie. One of us can call your teacher and let her know that you are sick, she won't be mad. I promise, just rest for a while."
"O-Okay, I will rest."
Cora said as Mitch puts a blanket on top of her and kisses her on the forehead, Scott has to go to the studio today to record some things for pentatonix so Mitch will have to take care of her by himself today.
"Alright, I've got to get to the studio but I will be back soon.".
"Bye, daddy."
"Bye, love bug!"
"Okay, I'm going to get you some medication and say bye to daddy, I will be right back."
Mitch says and Cora nods her head then, he left the room to say goodbye to his husband and get her medication. When he entered the kitchen Scott was eating his pancake really quick so he won't be late to the studio.
"Honey, what do you think she has got?"
"Scott...I don't know, it seems like a type of virus or something, Hopefully, it just stays the way it is and she doesn't start throwing up or anything like that. "
Mitch said as he grabbed a bottle of Tylenol out of the medicine cabinet and shook 2 pills out into his hand. This medication should bring her fever down and help her feel a little bit better.
"Yea, I hope she doesn't become worse. Bye honey, call me if you need anything or want me to come home early,"
"Bye, see you later."
Mitch said as Scott left the house then, he walked back into Cora's room to give her the medication that she needs. Cora was laying back down, Mitch looked at his daughter and saw that she was pale as a ghost plus her cheeks were bright pink because of the fever.
"Hey, sweetie. I have medication for you to take so you need to sit up for me."
"Ugh, dad I swear I'm fine. Can you please take me to School?"
"Cora, you cannot go to School with a fever and you know that. Please, just take your medication now."
"Whatever, get out I want to be alone."
Cora says as she doesn't want her dad to bother her anymore, she just wants to be alone at the moment like every teenager ever. Mitch takes a deep breath in to stop himself from yelling at his daughter who just sassed him because she is very under the weather.
"Okay, okay just yell for me if you need anything. Cora, make sure you take those pills."
"God, dad! I know!"
"Shut your mouth and rest."
Mitch said as he left Cora's room, he needed to clean up from breakfast as that's what he did. That is, until he heard coughing coming from Cora's room. He entered her bedroom to make sure that she was alright, Cora clearly wasn't because she was on her hands and knees vomiting into the toilet.
"Cora?"
"D-Dad, I'm in the bathroom."
Cora managed to say in-between reaching and coughing, Mitch had ran over to her and was rubbing her back. Mitch pulls out his phone from his pocket and types Scott phone number in as he needs help and he'll end up having a panic attack.
"Oh, honey. It's okay, I'm calling your daddy to come help."
S: "Hello?"
M: "Hey, is there any way that you can come home now?"
S: "Sure, why? Oh, is she getting worse?"
M: "Yes, she's vomiting and I just need you to come help me."
S: "Okay, I'm on my way."
"Cora? It's alright honey, just get everything up."
"I-I think it's over n-now."
"Okay then, lets get you back to bed. I'm just going to grab a few towels incase this happens again in your bed."
"A-Alright."
Mitch grabs a few things that he needs and then walks Cora back to her own bed, it is very hard for him to see his baby girl so sick like this. Before she lay down in the bed Mitch puts a towel under her that way, if vomit get on it, it will be easy to clean up. As Mitch is doing all of that he hears Scott opening the door and entering the house.
"I'm going to go get a barf bowl for you, plus I'll fill daddy in on what happened. You just rest."
Scott is hanging his car keys on this fancy hanger thing that Mitch bought when they got married when he see's Mitch he can tell something bad has happened.
"What happened? Is she okay?"
"Yeah, for right now anyway. She threw up a lot just now and I just had to called you because well..you know what happens when I get stressed or scared."
"Oh, a panic attack?"
"Yeah, but I haven't had one yet. I'm sorry that you couldn't get to the studio, Cora's my own daughter and I should be able to take care of her by myself."
"No, it's okay. Ben doesn't mind, we can go to the studio when Cora is all better."
"O-Okay."
"So what do you need me to help with, Mitchy?"
"Umm...actually can you watch her while I go to the store to get a few things that might help her feel better?"
"Alright, see you later babe."
"Bye, honey."
Mitch says as he gets on his tippy toes and kisses Scott on the lips then, they hug for a moment. Once Scott's husband leaves the house, he makes his way into Cora's room just to check up on her. When he entered the bedroom, Scott saw that his teenage daughter was sleeping so that was good because she does need rest. He cuddles up in the bed with Cora and feels her head with his hand.
"You'll be okay, baby girl."
Time skip
"Scott? Cora? I'm back with groceries!"
"Hey, let me help you carry the bags."
Scott said as he helped his tiny husband who was carrying so many bags at once, he almost fell over because it was heavy! Once they get everything in the fridge and the cabinets, Mitch asks Scott about how Cora is doing.
"How is Cora?"
"Well, right when you left for the store she threw up again then she fell asleep. Do you think she has the flu or something? Should we take her to the doctor?"
"I don't know, honey. Does she have a high fever?"
"Yeah, I just checked it a few minutes ago."
"What was it?"
"103.3."
"Oh, poor Cora. I'm starting to think she's got a touch of the flu, let's take her in."
"Okay, I'll go get Cora and carry her to the car. She can barely sit up, Mitchy."
"Alright then, while you do that I will get the car started."
Within 20 minutes they were off to the doctors, Mitch was in the backseat with a crying Cora because she was basically miserable. He was trying to comfort her in every way possible but she still wasn't having it.
"Cora, listen to me baby, we're taking you to the doctors right now. They will figure out what's wrong and prescribe medication for you to take, you'll be better soon. Shhh, love your going to be just fine, I promise. Cora Marie, what's wrong? Does something hurt?"
"Y-Yes, it hurts, it hurts."
"What does?"
"S-Stomach."
"Oh, okay. Are you going to be sick? I brought the bowl just incase you need it, here."
"I-I'm g-g-gonna-"
"Scott! Pull over!"
Mitch says as Cora begins to get sick yet again, this comes with parenting but they both hate to see her like this. Scott parks on the side of the road and get's out of the car to help Mitch handle her.
"Scott, she started throwing up again."
"Okay, What di you need me to do Mitchy?"
"Can you just grab some napkins from the glove department, please?"
"Of course."
Scott said as he grabbed some napkins from the glove department for Mitch to clean Cora's mouth off with. At the moment she had stopped vomiting but was still sitting up, leaning her head onto Mitch's shoulder.
"Oh, Cora, honey. Mitchy, here's the napkins and maybe instead if taking her to the Urgent Care we take her to the ER?"
"Thanks, love and Yeah...I agree."
"Are okay, Cora? It's okay, daddy's right here. Tell us what your feeling, or we can't help you, baby girl."
"My m-m-muscles hurt, my head h-hurts so bad, and my throat does too."
"Scott, I think she's mostly showing signs of the flu. Her body's aching, that's a red flag for that."
"Your right, do you want me to start driving again?"
"Yeah, I've got her, just get us to the hospital as fast as you can."
"Okay."
Time skip
All 3 of them sit in the waiting room for over 3 hours, Cora finally gets checked out by a doctor. Basically, at the moment they are running a few tests to figure out what is wrong with Cora. The doctors had to stick her like 3 times with a needle, and the whole time she was attached to Scott's side.
"Ughhh, when can we go home daddy?"
"Not long, we just have to wait and see what the doctors say when they come back."
"I just wanna go home!"
"We know, baby girl, we know."
3 hour time skip
When it was concluded that Cora had the flu, she got sent home from the hospital. Both of her parent's were shocked that she wasn't admitted into the hospital because Cora was in awful shape. Scott drove Cora and Mitch back home and then he went to the store to get the prescription medication that the doctor prescribed for her. While Scott was doing that Mitch got Cora all settled up in the living room, thinking that would be safer than her bedroom and they could both get to her if something happened.
"I really hoped you wouldn't have the flu, baby girl. You seem upset, what's wrong?"
"I don't feel good, and I need to know how many days the doctor said that I needed stay home from school. What did he say?"
"He said about maybe 3-4 days, Cora."
"What? No! I can't miss that much, my grades will tank!"
"No they won't, not on my watch. You'll be excused for the work you miss, and they will give you extra time to turn things in."
"But I wanna hang out with my friends! Jenny is having a sleepover tomorrow and I wanna go!"
"I'm sorry, but you can't go."
"Why not? God, your so unfair!"
"Cora, honey you are running such a high fever and you've been vomiting all day. We had to take you the ER! You need to rest up all day tomorrow, so no sleepover for you. I'm not being unfair I'm being a parent."
"Well, what if I'm better tomorrow?"
"You have the flu, that is not just a one day thing."
"Fine then, I'll just ask daddy when he get's home!"
"Yeah, you have fun with that."
Once Scott got home, he got the first dose of Cora's medication ready but before he could leave the kitchen Mitch made sure that he wasn't going to let his sick daughter go to a sleepover.
"Scott, she want's to go to Jenny's tommrow for a sleepover, I told her no because she's sick. Then, Cora told me that she'd ask you and see if you let her so, tell her no too."
"Okay, I will."
"Alright, now go give her those meds."
"K! Hey baby girl, I've got your meds."
"Daddy, I was wondering if I could go to Jenny's tomorrow for a sleep over?"
"That's a no, your too sick and you need to stay home so you don't infect your friends."
"Whatever."
Cora takes her medication and pouts, she really wants to go to school and she also want's to have that sleepover. Then, Cora gets a bright idea and shares it with both of her parents.
"Can one of you go to the school and get my work?"
"I could-"
"No, Scott I'll do It."
"Okay, thank you Mitchy."
"Welcome, I'll do everything in my power to get our little book worm better."
