I'll Take Care Of You
A/N: HEY MY SWEET LOVES!I have another story for you, and it's very cute!! I never do lots of Scott sickfic's because, no joke when I come up with and idea I can only picture Mitch as the sick one lol!! But, this was really fun to write and I think y'all will really love it!! ENJOY!!
It was about 8:00 in the morning, Mitch had been drinking his coffee and sending emails out. Scott had a 'sleepover' at Alex's last night, so Mitch was very lonely on this cold and rainy morning. His day was going well until he got a call from Alex, he answered it quickly.
M: "Hey Alex, how's it going?"
A: "Mitch, hey. Listen, I'm about to bring Scott home and he's very sick.
M: "Very sick? Since when? When he left for your house last night he was fine."
A: "Since about 5:30 this morning, I woke up to him sitting up in bed just constantly burping. I thought it might just have been having indigestion but, he threw up everywhere. Scott's been getting sick every 10 minutes since then, he asked for me to take him home. I'm about to load him up in the car, he's in really bad shape Mitch."
M: "Wow, I can't believe that. I'll be waiting on the front porch when you guys get here, tell him that I'll be getting the house ready and such."
A: "Okay, I will. He's been like...crying a lot because it must hurt so bad."
M: "Awwwee, poor Scotty. Anyway, I'll see you soon."
A: "Kk, bye."
Once Mitch got off the phone with Alex, he hurriedly got all the sick day essentials laid out for Scott. A thermometer, throw up bowl, and lots and lots of towels. When Alex pulls into the driveway, Mitch goes out to his car to retrieve his sick best friend. He sees Alex getting out of the drivers seat and opening up the passenger door.
"Hey Alex."
"Hi Mitch."
Once the door is completely open Mitch takes a good look at Scott, he is hunched over with a barf bowl under his chin. He's coughing and gagging so much, that it resembles choking. Alex handed Scott's bag over to Mitch, who slung it over his slim shoulder fast. They waited until Scott was no longer vomiting, to try and get him inside the house.
"Hey, Scotty. I know that you must be in so much pain right now, but can we move you inside the house and onto the couch?"
"O-Okay, I-I'm just really dizzy Mitchy."
"That alright, Scotty. Hey Alex, can you help me get him inside? Because if he falls over I for sure can't catch him."
"Sure, I don't mind at all."'
They both almost had to treat Scott as if he were drunk, except that wasn't at all the case. Once Scott was finally in the house, he was guided to the couch. Alex helped him lay down and put a blanket on his sick boyfriend, making sure to kiss his sweaty forehead.
"Scott, I have to go to work now. I love you, and I hope you get to feeling better as soon as possible."
"I-I love you. I'm sorry, that I threw up on your blankets this morning."
"It's okay baby, you didn't see it coming and neither did I."
Just after Alex had left, it was time for Mitch just to solely focus on his best friend and get him better, that was top priority right now. The first thing that needed to be checked was Scott's temperature, Mitch did feel his forehead but he couldn't tell if Scott had a fever or not.
"Okay love, open up for me. There we go, I'll just pull it out when it beeps."
When the thermometer beeped, Mitch took it out of Scott's mouth and looked at it. Scott was running a fever but, it wasn't dangerously high or anything like that.
"W-What does it say, M-Mitchy?"
"Well Scotty, you've got a fever of 101.1. Are you alright, baby?"
Mitch questioned as Scott sat up on the couch quickly, and put his hand over his mouth. Then he started looking around for something, Mitch wasn't sure what he was searching for though.
"No, I-I feel like I'm going to be sick."
"Okay, it's okay, you are good. Here Scotty, here."
Mitch said as he quickly gave Scott the barf bowl, then he got up and grabbed a towel that he had laid out earlier just to wipe him up when he's finished. Mitch absolutely hates to see Scott like this, normally it's Scott who's taking care of Mitch but the roles were reversed this time.
"I-I h-have n-n-n-never fe-elt so bad before."
"What's wrong honey? What hurts?"
"M-My stomach hurts I-It won't stop cramping."
At this point he was rocking back and forth and seems to be getting upset and flustered due to his pain. Scott felt like he was making an absolute fool of himself, but he know's this is all uncontrollable.
"It's okay, just breathe and calm down."
Mitch says while pushing Scott's hair out of his face and rubbing his back lovingly, he doesn't want Scott to move that much afraid that might upset his stomach even more. He handed he throw up bowl to Mitch, and laid back down in the fetal position.
"I'm going to clean the bowl out now, try to rest."
"I will."
Mitch walked out of the room to go clean the throw up bowl, he is in he middle of doing that when he hears the sickening splash of vomit hitting the floor. Mitch runs into the living room to see what happened. Scott is siting up on the couch again and there is vomit all over him, the couch, and the carpeted floor.
"Oh my goodness."
"I'm sorry Mitchy. I just-I-couldn't f-find the bowl."
"It's okay Scotty, I had it in the kitchen. This isn't your fault, I'm going to go start the shower."
"A-Alright, I'll clan this up while you do that."
"No, you are sick. I'm not going to have you clean that up, I'll do it while you are showering."
Mitch goes into Scott's bedroom to get him some fresh clothes to wear then starts the shower for Scott, once it is warm enough he takes Scott to the bathroom and strips him.
"Scotty, I'm going to be right in the living room. If you need me, yell. Okay?"
"O-Okay."
"Alright, go ahead and step on in."
While Scott is showering Mitch has to clean the living room up. A little while after Mitch gets everything cleaned up Scott starts to walk out of the steamy bathroom but has to grab onto the wall for support, Mitch notices this and leads him back to the couch.
"How are you feeling now?"
"Not good, not good at all."
"I've never seen you this sick before should I take you somewhere or call someone?"
"No. This has to be food poisoning or something."
"Scott, if it gets worse I'm going to take you to the doctor. Like it or not."
"I don't wanna got to the doctor, Mitchy."
"I know you don't want to but, you may not have a choice. Scotty, I'm going to get a Gatorade for you. Will you drink it?"
"N-No, everything I drink just comes right back up. I don't wanna throw up anymore, so no."
"While I understand that, you might be getting dehydrated. I'll grab it for you, and you don't have to drink a lot fast...just small sips."
"Oka-Okay, I guess."
Mitch goes into the kitchen and comes back with a blue flavored Gatorade, he also has a small wet washcloth in his hand. Scott guessed it was for his forehead, to lower his fever.
"I'm just going to check if the fever has gotten worse, open up."
Mitch put the thermometer in his mouth and takes it back out when it beeps
"103.4 That's not good."
Time skip to a little later
Scott starts to vomit in tiny episodes that happen often, to the point where he just doesn't have any control over his own body. Mitch is currently on the bathroom floor, on his knees holding Scott's barf bowl while he has extremely violent diarrhea on the toilet at the same exact time. He keeps apologizing every time he throws up, even though he doesn't have any sort of control of anything right now.
"I-I'm sorry!"
"You don't need to apologize baby, I know you don't feel well."
"My tummy hurts so b-bad."
"I know sweetie."
No matter how bad it smelled and how gross it was Mitch was right by his side. What goes in must come out! However, that did not make sense. Nothing was going in so why on earth is it coming out? Strangest question Mitch has ever had!
"Mitchy please h-h-help m-m-m-me."
"Scotty, I need to call your doctor."
"No. Just give it a few more hours. I'm sure it's just like a 24 hour thing."
Scott is always so stubborn when he is sick
"Love, I don't know how to help you. I need you to tell me what hurts, and how you think I can make it better."
"M-My stomach hurts, I-I-I can't even move without getting sick. My whole body h-hurts, like h*ll!"
"Your body hurts? Where? I need you to tell me where."
"J-Just everywhere! I-I can't handle this any-any more!!"
"Shhh, calm down. I understand, what you are saying. I really think you need to go to the doctor though, you are in so much pain."
"No, I'm not going to the doctor. Not until I have no other choice, I'll be fine."
"Okay, okay, fine. Are you done?"
"Y-Yeah, I wanna go lay down on the couch."
"Alright then, let's go."
Mitch, being Scott's saving grace helped him get from the bathroom back to the couch. It was still not getting better, and it had been 2 hours since Mitch was thinking about taking Scott to the doctor. It was time to go in, no matter if Scott wanted to or not.
"I'm taking you to the ER right now."
"But-"
"Nope. I'm going to get the car ready. Stay here."
When Mitch left to go get the car ready, Scott just laid on the couch in so much distress. Today is no joke the worse day of his life, he's never been so sick like this before. Mitch put a few towels on the passenger seat in the front, just incase anything were to happen. He thought about laying Scott down in the backseat, but Mitch quickly decided that wasn't a good idea if Scott started vomiting. He walked back into see Scott just as he had left him, curled up on the couch.
"Scotty, I've got the car ready. Can you sit up and grab my hand?"
"No, I don't wanna go."
"Sometimes, we have to do things that we really don't wanna do. This is definitely one of those moments, Scotty. Just sit up, grab my hand, and I'll walk you to the car. Okay?"
Scott let out a sigh, he knew that Mitch wanted the best for him and all but he really didn't want to move. So, he rolled over to face his caretaker, sporting a sad pouty face. Mitch really did feel bad for Scott but, he needs to see a doctor. Mitch kneeled down by the couch, trying to tell Scott that there wasn't really anything to be afraid of.
"Scotty, I need you to tell me why you don't want to go. You need to be open and honest with me, I need to know what's holding you back."
"I-I don't wanna g-g-go, because t-th-they might poke me! I can't handle that, not today!!"
"Baby, if they do have to give you a few pokes I'll be right there to hold your hand. Besides, pain only lasts a second and the quicker we get you in the ER the faster you'll be home."
"O-Okay."
Scott said, finally giving in to something that he didn't even wanna do in the first place. Mitch was somewhat proud of him, because Mitch can't 'make' him go to the doctor if he doesn't want to.
"I'm proud of you, Scotty. Come on, Love."
Hospital parking lot 15 minutes later
"Scotty, It's okay. Just hold the bucket, and throw up in that."
Mitch yelled to Scott as he was trying to drive to the hospital, as Scott had just started complaining of stomach pains again.
"It's okay, I'm going to get you some help. We're gonna be there in about 10 minutes, Scotty."
"Mitchy, I-I feel like I'm gonna throw up."
"If you do, it's completely fine. You've got the bucket just in case it starts up again, use it."
"O-Okay."
Not even seconds after that conversation, Scott started coughing and then throwing up. It was awful, vomit even came out of his nose! When Mitch finally pulled into the parking lot, he jumped out of the drivers seat and opened the back door.
"Scotty it's time to go inside now."
Scott whimpered and pouted, he was clearly very scared. It didn't help that he had just got done throwing up, he felt nasty and gross.
"What's wrong sweetie? Are you feeling worse?"'
"I-I want to get better, Mitchy. I really do!! But, I seriously don't think I can walk without throwing up again."
"It's alright, we'll take it slow."
Scott got out of the car and Mitch leads him into the entrance of the emergency department fully holding onto him so he doesn't fall over. Once they make it inside, Mitch sit's him down in the waiting room. Then, he walked up to the front desk so that way he could fill out paper work for Scott.
"Hello! How can I help you, today?"
"I just need to start paperwork for my friend, he's really sick."
"I see, sir. So, if you'll just fill this out and bring it back up to me then we will get your friend taken care of."
The desk lady said as she handed over a crap ton of paperwork on a clipboard, this was gonna be fun to fill out. When Mitch walked over to where he had left Scott, he saw him dosing off in a sitting position. Scott's been up since...like 5:00 AM, so Mitch knows he's practically a walking zombie. The movement of Mitch siting back down spooked Scott, causing him to jump wake suddenly.
"Aww, Scott I'm sorry. It's okay, you can sleep. I'm just filling out the paperwork, we're gonna be here for awhile."
"D-D-Do you want me to d-do the paperwork, M-M-Mi-Mitchy?"
"No, no, no. You rest baby, I got it."
"Mmmm k."
2 hours later
"Scott Hoying?"
A nurse with blonde curly hair questioned getting all of the sick people's attention. When Scott's name was called Mitch stood up and took his hand to help him stand up as well.
"Follow me."
The nurse leads Scott and Mitch into a room and completely pulls the baby blue curtains around, blocking everyone else in the ER from seeing everything. Scott laid down, and Mitch sat in the chair next to the bed.
"Mr. Hoying, I'm going to ask you some questions."
Scott didn't respond, he just pushed his head even further into the pillow. He just felt awful, didn't want to be bothered. While that is understandable, he needs answer the nurses questions. So, Mitch tapped on his shoulder to get his attention.
"Scotty, I'm sure that you don't want to talk right now but you need to answer the questions."
"Fine."
Scott hissed, not trying to be mean but he just wasn't feeling it today. The nurse got her clipboard, and her pin ready to write things down.
"When did these symptoms begin? What where you doing?"
"I was just staying the night with my boyfriend, it all started at like 5:30 this morning."
"What happened at 5:30 this morning, Mr. Hoying."
"Well, I just suddenly woke up and was burping a lot. Then I started throwing up, and I wasn't expecting it at all."
"Okay then, have you been able to keep any food or drink down?
"No."
"Have you recently eaten any food the you suspect could be spoiled?"
"No, I make sure to check the dates before I eat anything."
"One last question, do you have any cramping, fever, headache, or muscle aches?"
"Yeah, I have cramping, and the headache."
"Alright, I need to do 2 different tests on you. The first, is a urinalysis and then I'll have to draw some blood."
Scott does his business with some help from Mitch and returns back to bed. Then, he becomes worried about having his blood drawn as it's been years since he's had to get that done.
"Scott, It's going to be okay."
"You promise?"
"Yes. I promise."
A couple of minutes later the nurse comes back with all the supplies she will need. Just as she enters Scott puts both of his arms under the blanket, trying to be sneaky.
"Mr. Hoying, It's okay. All I'm going to do right now is feel for a good vein, I need your arm though."
Scott shook his head and pouted, causing Mitch to grab his arms and pulled them from under the blanket. Scott reluctantly let her feel for a good vein, once she found it she put on gloves and opens an alcohol pad. Then, she ties a tourniquet around his arm to increase blood flow.
"This is just to increase blood flow. Can you make a fist?"
"I-I guess."
Scott made a fist, like he was asked to and the nurse wiped down his arm with the alcohol pad
"Ouchie."
Mitch rubs his back when the needle was removed
"There, all done. I'm going to send this to the lab, I will be right back."
The nurse leaves the room for a moment, and once she does Scott looks up at Mitch with a smile on his face because even though he was still ill he was also proud of himself for getting through the blood draw.
"You did so good Scotty, I'm proud of you! I'm going to call Kirstie, she wants an update."
"Okay, don't take too long."
"I won't, promise."
Mitch says as he steps out of the room and dials Kirstie number, she quickly picks up.
K:"Hello? Mitch?"
M:"Hi Kirstie."
K:"Hey. How's Scott?"
M:"Well, the vomiting and diarrhea stopped an hour ago but, we are at the ER."
K:"Why?"
M:"I think Scott is very dehydrated so they are doing some tests."
K:"Oh, Ok. Well I have to take Olaf on a walk, I'll call later."
M:"Okay, bye. I'll call you if I get any more updates."
K:"Alright, bye."
Mitch walks back into the room after he hangs up the phone, and see's that while he was chatting on the phone Scott had started throwing up yet again. He ran over to Scott, and rubbed his back lovingly making sure to let him know that everything will be okay.
"It's okay, Scott. I've got you, there you go."
The nurse comes back with and IV bag and A needle, Scott puts his head in Mitch's neck when he sees the shiny, scary, and sharp object.
"Oh, did something happen while I was gone?"
"Yeah, I was on the phone in the hall I just came back in, and he was throwing up."
"Well, the tests came back and Scott is severely dehydrated, I'm going to have to start an IV and he needs to be admitted."
Paige puts on some gloves and walks over to them
"Scott, I need your arm again."
"Whatever, I just wanna go home."
Scott's said as he puts his arm out, for the nurse to put in the IV.
"Scotty, she just said that you are going to be admitted into the hospital."
"B-But, I wanna go home."
"I understand that sir but, you are very dehydrated."
The nurse said as she quickly got everything ready so the process would be much easier. When the needle went in Scott yelped and held onto Mitch's hand. After she had left to get the admitting papers that would need to be signed Scott was in such a terrible mood that he started crying.
"I-I- want to go h-home. We J-J-Just got home from tour."
"I know Scotty, I really do."
"I don't want anymore shots. They hurt."
"I can't stand to see you in so much pain. Do want me to call Alex?"
"N-No. I love him but, I just want to be with you right now."
"Okay, I'm completely fine with that Scotty."
