"Mitchy? Are you sure you don't wanna go to the doctor??"
"I'm"--cough--"Fine."
"That cough is really barky, though."
"Y-Yeah, I know. I'm sure it's just a cold."
Mitch said as he grabbed a tissue, blowing his nose into it. He just has a simple cold that should go away in a week or so, and Scott is so worried about him which doesn't make sense. Mitch has told him like 10 times this morning that he is totally fine. Mitch came into Scott's bedroom at about 5:00 this morning, because he really didn't feel well.
FLASHBACK: 5:00 AM
It scared Scott half to death, when he felt someone getting into his bed. He opened his eyes quickly to see who it was, or if it was a demon. No demon this time, just Mitchy. He looked so tired and just drained, his sad brown eyes met Scott's blue eyes.
"Mitchy?? What's wrong, what time is it anyway?"
Scott grabbed his phone, it was 5:00 AM
"Can't sleep, getting sick Scotty."
"Sick? What hurts??"
"Just"--cough, cough--" a cough."
"Oh. You wanna stay in here, or do you need me to get something?"
"Stay here, sleep."
Mitch said, holding back a cough, when he stops speaking he starts to cough. Scott hand him his water bottle, and Mitch takes a few sips and he is able to stop the fit. He was sitting at the egde of the bed waiting for Scott to approve for him to actually sleep in his bedroom. But, Mitch knew that he would stay in his room no matter what he said.
"Okay, come up here, get under some blankets."
With that, the smaller man crawls up to the head on the bed. Mitch laid down right next to Scott knowing that if he were to get worse, Scott would be there to help. As soon as they got comfortable, it was lights out for both of them.
End Of Flashback
"You don't have a fever do you, Mitchy?"
"N-No"--cough, cough--" I don't feel hot."
Scott leans over, puts his hand on Mitch's forehead
"Nope, you're as cool as a cucumber babe."
"Good, I don't want a fever."
"I don't want you to have one either, Mitchy."
Mitch had a headache, he didn't wanna tell Scott though. Only because, Scott would be trying to doctor him up with suggestions from google. However, Mitch couldn't hide it for that long. Scott had went to the kitchen, and when he walked back into his bedroom he saw Mitch with his head down, he was rubbing his forehead.
"Mitchy, what's going on?"
"Huh?? O-Oh"--cough, cough, cough--"I'm just congested."
"Are you telling the truth, Mitchy??"
"Okay, fine, no I'm not."
"Then what's really going on? Be honest."
"My head is pounding, it fees like my head has a heartbeat."
Scott pulls up his phone, already googling everything
"Scottyyyy, stop googling."
"Oh look, right here it says to put ice on the back of your neck. So I'll grab some ice, and it also says on here to put a cool washcloth right on the forehead, as you would for a fever. Mitchy, go ahead and lay down, I'll be right back."
Mitch doesn't lay down so, Scott walks over to him and gentle pushes him down. Fluffing his pillows, and covered him with a really warm blanket. With that, Scott headed to the kitchen.
"You don't have...well, he's already gone."
Time Skip: 5 Minutes Later
"Okay, this is going to be cold on your neck."
Scott said as he put the cold pack on the back of Mitch's neck, he also places the cool washcloth on his forehead as well. He expected Mitch to jump up, or say that it was too cold but he didn't.
"Sc-Scotty"--cough, cough--" c-can you turn the lights off??"
"Sure, Mitchy. Rest, take a nap, and relax."
"Kay."
Mitch was in the complete dark, trying to get rid of his headache. Scott decided to leave the bedroom for a few minutes, just so it can be quiet and he doesn't want to disturb Mitch at all.
Time Skip: 35 Minutes Later
Scott was in the living room, just chilling watching TV with the sound very low. But, he got up when he heard Mitch's barking cough sound throughout the whole house. When he entered the room Mitch was sitting up, and he was coughing up mucus into a tissue. He seemed to be doing quite worse than before.
"Oh Mitchy, you must have a lot of junk in your lungs."
"I g-guess"--cough, cough--" so."
"Do you want to go to the doctor?"
"No thanks."
"Well, if you get worse you might not have a choice."
That's exactly what happened, Mitch didn't have a choice anymore. He started to have a really bad coughing fit, that went on for what seemed like 10 minutes. Scott went into the kitchen to get Mitch something to calm his coughing down, he grabbed some cough drops. When he went back into his bedroom, Mitch was having such a bad coughing fit that it had caused him to throw up a little bit in the bed.
"--cough, cough, cough--"S-S-Sorry."
"No, it's fine Mitchy. You are just coughing so hard that it caused you to be sick. It's okay, I understand. Here, take a cough drop, maybe that will help."
"I-I"--cough, cough"I-I-I can't."
"Can't what?"
"B-Breathe, I j-j-just can't."
Scott didn't expect this to happen but, it did. Not only was Mitch having a coughing fit, he was also having a pretty bad panic attack at the same time. His face was full of fear, and was turning completely red.
"Mitchy, it's okay, breathe."
"C-C"--cough, cough, cough--"C-Can't."
"Babe, if you don't take a few deep breaths I'm gonna call 911."
"N-N-No, don't d-d"--cough--"do t-th-that."
He wasn't calming down at all, and if anything he was just getting worse. Scott was freaking out afraid that, Mitch would pass out or something. So, after a few minutes of him trying to stop coughing, puking, and freaking out Scott just decided to be on the safe side and call for help.
"Mitchy, I'm going to get my phone. I'm calling."
"N-No"--cough, cough--"Pl-Please don't."
"I have too. You'll pass out if I don't get help."
Scott grabbed his phone, and dialed the scariest 3 numbers ever. He then got back onto the bed where Mitch was sitting up. Scott rubbed his back, and held the bucket for him to throw up in if he needed to.
"Hello? Yes, I need an ambulance. My friend is really ill, and he cannot breathe properly. I'm afraid he is going to pass out because he isn't getting good oxygen. Can y'all hurry?"
It took the ambulance about 9 minutes to arrive, which was the longest 9 minutes of both of their life's. When Scott could hear the sirens from his bedroom, he told Mitch that he was going to flag them down at the front door. He led the paramedics to Mitch, and they quickly started t help him. It was so hard for Scott to stand on the sidelines and watch them work on him.
"Sir, what's his name?"
"M-Mitch, Mitchell Grassi."
"Okay. Mitch, I'm going to put an oxygen mask on you."
A paramedic said to Mitch, as she put an oxygen mask on his face. With that on, the coughing was coming to a halt. All the paramedics surrounded him. One was checking his vitals, someone else was starting an IV, and a bunch of them brought in a stretcher as they most definitely would be taking him to the hospital. Scott stood on the sidelines, Mitch's scared eyes met his. Scott started to tell him that everything was okay, for the distance.
"Mitchy, I know it is scary. But, it's okay."
Not to long later, they had moved him onto the stretcher, and were pushing him out of the house. Alex had woken up due to all the noise, and he was shocked to see Mitch being pushed out of Scott's bedroom in such a scary state. Mitch was wheeled out of his room first and Scott was following behind, and he gave Alex a hug and a kiss.
"What's going on, Scott??"
"I don't know, I thought he was just sick. Then, he couldn't breathe or stop coughing. I was scared that he would pass out or something....so I had to call for help."
"Oh no."
"Yeah, it's freaky. I've gotta go, I'm going to ride with him."
"Kay, update me."
"I will."
Scott said as he walked out of the house, and got into the ambulance. When arrived Mitch still had his oxygen mask on, and his small hand with a heart monitor was held out to Scott. He took his hand, and held it tightly.
"It's okay, Mitchy. I'm here."
Time Skip: 2 Hours later
"So, it seems like you have a really bad case of bronchitis. It attacked your lungs which caused all of the coughing, and when you mix that with a panic attack like you had it is very scary. What we are going to do is, keep you here for a day or so just to keep an eye on you. Okay?"
"Okay"--cough, cough--" Thank you."
"Welcome, sir."
When the doctor left the room, Mitch looked over at Scott who was sitting down in the chair next to his bed. He pulled down his oxygen mask, which he was supposed to really do.
"Mitchy, you aren't supposed to take that off."
"I know. But, I need to tell you something."
"Tell me what?"
"To tell you, thank you. Thank you for caring, you are the best."
"Of course, Mitchy. I'm so grateful to have you."
"I'm grateful for you too, and even though we aren't married. I feel like we stick together through sickness and health. Do you think so??"
"I do. Through sickness and health, always."
