A/N: HEY Y'ALL!!! I'm finally back after having loads of computer issues, thank goodness!! So, this story takes place during the world tour 2016. Also all of the Pentatonix members are in this as well!! Please comment/message requests if you want too!! ENJOY!!!
"Places, come on, lets go!!"
All 5 of them get into position
"10 seconds before lights go up."
The whole arena goes dark
"Starting projectors."
The fans screaming became louder
"Here we go guys."
Their ears counted them off
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5,"
I broke something
I'll never get ,I'll never get back
Brought me to my knees
A head like steel and a soul of gold
And a heart that's made of glass
The moving set lifts off the ground
But mines cracked
The spotlights go up, revealing the band
Well, mines cracked
Suddenly, chaos erupted
Well, mines-
Mitch mistook a step backward, and since they were on a set piece that was not directly on the ground he fell. He fell 6 ft. Mitch had just critically hurt himself, 1 minute into the show. Scott looked over to his right, confused when his other part wasn't next to him like he always was. However, after hearing a loud scream, Scott saw him. He was on the floor, Mitch was hurt. They needed to be lowered to help him.
"Oh my god, oh my god. Get us down, get us down!!"
Scott yelled, knowing they'd have to be lowered to get to Mitch
"Come on, come on, hurry!!!"
The set piece was lowered, and the arena lights all came back on. The fans were so confused but knew that something bad must've just happened. After jumping off the set piece as fast as he could Scott ran over to Mitch, where Kate and Esther were already at his side.
"Is he okay?? Oh my god, is he breathing??"
Scott questioned, knelling down next to him
"Mitch is breathing but, he is unconscious."
"Es, what do we do?? What are we going to do???"
"Chris has already called 911."
Mitch began making snoring noises
"What the h*ll??"
"Keep him flat, don't let him sit up. Hold his head still."
Kevin said, approaching
"He probably has a head injury, that was a hard fall."
"A head injury?? Oh my god, we-"
"Scott, you need to be calm, he will be okay."
"You don't know that."
Mitch's eyes slowly began to open, he couldn't tell what was going on. Why was he on the ground?? What were all of these people doing at his side? He gasped loudly, the pain he was going through could be compared to a headache, only 100 times worse right now.
"Ah! Ouch!!"
"Oh my gosh, his eyes are opening. Mitchy??"
He could hear Scott's voice, but where was he??
"It's okay Mitch, keep your head still. Help is coming."
Mitch reached his arm out, feeling for someone he knew. His hand latched onto Scott's. How he knew it was Scott's hand? He didn't really know but, somehow he could tell that it was. As much as he wanted to scream out in pain, he stayed quiet. Whispering to whoever was near.
"P-Pain, hu-hurts, help please."
"Help is almost here, Mitchy. They'll take good care of you."
The medics arrived, ordering everyone to step back
"We need everyone away from the patient. What's his name?"
"Mitch. His name is Mitch."
Kevin switched places with an EMT who took over holding his head still. As they were asked everyone stepped back, letting them do their job. Kirstie was crying, and Scott quickly developed her into a hug. Him crying too. None of the members had ever gotten seriously hurt before on tour, this was a first. No one knew what to think, or how to act.
"Mitch, can you hear me??"
He nodded
"Can you tell me what year it is??"
Mitch thought for a moment
"20-2016?"
"Okay, good."
"Do you know what happened, Mitch?'
"N-No."
"Alright well, let's get you to the hospital."
Before moving Mitch, the medics placed a neck brace on him. Slid the backboard completely underneath him, and moved him onto the stretcher. This was a painful process as well. Mitch was so confused, he didn't understand what had happened. He was scared.
"Who's coming with him?"
A medic asked
"I will, I will."
Scott said, rushing his words
"Alright, follow us."
Scott watched, as Mitch's seemingly lifeless body was being pushed to an ambulance. This had been a full circle moment, that anything can happen at any place or time. When they made it outside, the ambulance doors opened and he was pushed in. Scott got in after him.
"You can sit here, sir."
One of the female medics said, pointing to the seat for Scott
"Okay, thank you."
The medics worked so quickly. Attaching loads of wires to him, starting an IV, and shining a hand held light into his eyes. Scott could see that the back of his head had started to become red from the fall. Again, Mitch reached out for Scott's hand, which he held so tightly.
"W-What happened-d?"
"Mitch, you've had a big fall during one of your shows."
"A-A big fall?? Off what???"
"Off of a moving set piece."
"Oh....I don't remember."
Another medic had pulled Scott aside, to get more info on the accident
"Sir, did you see the accident?"
"Yes."
"Can you explain what happened?"
"Yeah. For our show, we start it on a moving platform. I thought it was safe. He must've stepped backward which caused him to fall off. It was like 6 feet. Is he going to be okay?? I'm really worried about him. He's never been hurt like this before. Never ever."
"I'm sure he will be just fine, sir. This is most likely a concussion. But, since we are just medics we cannot diagnosis him. The trauma unit can though, and that's where he will be. We are pulling up to the hospital now, and I'm sure you'll be sent straight to the waiting room."
Scott was pulled back in reality, when Mitch continued to ask questions. It really scared him though because these were the questions that he had asked not even 5 minutes ago.
"W-Wait, what happened??"
Scott answered him this time
"Mitchy, you fell during the show."
"I did?? From where???"
"Off the moving set piece for Cracked/Na Na Na."
"I don't remember that."
"It's okay Mitchy, we're almost at the hospital."
Mitch was silent for a moment, before speaking up
"Something has happened. What's going on??"
"Sir, you've had an accident tonight."
"A-Accident?? How???"
"You fell from a moving set piece during a show."
"Did I?? Are you sure??? I really don't remember that."
"I'm sure, sir."
"Why is he repeating things?"
Scott asked the medic, worrying even more
"Repeating things is normally a sign for a concussion. We're at the hospital."
Just as fast as they'd gotten him in the ambulance, they got him out
"Is this patient critical?"
A nurse asked, after Mitch had been rolled into the ER
"Yes, he is."
The medic answered
"Okay, trauma room 2. Sir, you'll need to stay back."
Mitch was whisked away quickly, with just enough time for Scott to get one good look at his face. He looked so broken and defeated. Scott hated to see him like that. After the nurse showed him to the waiting room, he sat alone. Hands on his head, worry taking over his brain.
Time Skip: 30 Minutes Later
"Scott, honey, we're here."
That was Esther's voice, and Scott knew it without even looking up. He lifted his head up from his knees. His eyes re-focused from the tears and he saw Kirstie, Esther, and Avi standing in front of him. Like any medical drama, Scott stood up and hugged his closest friends in a tight hug.
"S-S-Said he was-trauma-unit-I-"
"Hey, breathe."
"R-R-Right."
They all sat down, Scott becoming more antsy as time passed
Time Skip: 15 Minutes Later
"Are you guys with Mr. Grassi?"
A nurse asked, Scott stood up quickly
"Yes, yes, we are."
"Ah okay. Well, he is stable at the moment. Which means he can have only one visitor at the moment. If anyone you like to see him, you can. Just one person though."
Scott looked back at all of the others, mouthing for him to go
"I'll go."
"Okay, great. Follow me, sir."
The hospital was cold, and smelled clean, almost too clean. It almost felt as if Scott was walking in slow motion, watching everything go by him slowly. Once he finally focused again, they were standing outside of Mitch's room. Scott was almost too scared to go in but, he did.
"You can go on in, sir."
"Okay, thank you."
The nurse held the door open as he walked in, almost crumbling at the sight of his best friend. But keeping his feelings in check, because he needed to be strong for Mitch. He had to be. It was completely dark. Mitch's eyes were somewhat open, just a tiny bit. His neck brace making it hard for him to see what was going on or who had walked into the room. Scott went up to the bed. Wanting nothing more, but to help.
"Mitchy, I'm here."
Mitch turned his head to look at Scott, tears were falling from his cheeks. Scott's eyes almost teared up from seeing him like this. He went into protective mode, grabbing Mitch's hand. Telling him that everything would be alright soon, and that crying would make it worse.
"Aw, Mitchy, baby. Crying will only make your head hurt more, love."
"I-I know b-b-but, can't stop."
"Just take deep breath's, you'll be just fine Mitchy."
He was able to take a few breaths but, began questioning again
"Scott, what happened to me?"
"You fell from a moving set piece."
"I did??"
"Yup."
"Wait...during what song?"
"Cracked."
"Oh okay. Wait....what happened to me??"
Here we go again
"Mitchy, you fell during the show, and now you have a concussion."
"A concussion?!"
"Yes."
"Have I ever had a concussion before, Scotty?"
"Nope, this is your first one."
"Oh."
Mitch was silent for a moment, and then he felt sick
"Scotty, I don't feel well."
"Do you want me to call the nurse?"
"Yes, hurry, hurry, please."
Scott suddenly became more worried, hitting the call button
"What's wrong, Mitchy?"
"I feel like I'm going to be sick...."
Before Scott could look around for a bowl or bag, Mitch vomited. Part of it going in his neck brace which made it even worse, and the rest going on the sheets even his gown was covered in it. Within a second of this happening, the nurse entered his room. She's seen this all before.
"Oh goodness, Mr. Grassi. Let's get you cleaned up."
"What made him get sick like that??"
Scott asked, as the nurse handed Mitch a bin, just in case
"It is very common with concussions to vomit."
The nurse took off Mitch's neck brace, cleaned his neck area off and replaced the brace with a new clean one. Then, she took Mitch's soiled gown off. Next she needed to do the sheets. But she decided the quickest was to do this, was for Scott to lift him up.
"I normally don't ask patients family or friends to help but, I don't want to cause Mitch more pain than what he already is experiencing. Can you hold him up for me when I quickly change the sheets under him? Then you can place him back down slowly after they are one."
"Sure, I don't mind."
"Okay. Thank you. 1, 2, 3."
Scott picked up Mitch's sore body, causing him to yelp. But, the nurse was quick and within seconds Mitch was placed back down onto the bed. His one hand being held by Scott. His other holding the bin. Mitch started to panic when Scott let go of his hand. He didn't like that.
"W-What are you doing??!!"
"Mitchy, I'm just pulling up a chair."
"Don't let go of my hand, please."
Mitch begged, needing and wanting Scott's protection
"I won't, ever. Hey, I love you."
"L-Love you too. Wait...what happened to me again??"
