(Btw those stars have names just wait for Lea to name them)
There once was a boy named Mitch Grassi... big brown curious eyes, matching beautiful brown hair. Light yet toned skin, smooth to the touch.
He had a brilliant imagination. A wild, yet perfect mind which would make hilariously occupying games for him to play. His smile... His smile shined like a thousand happy suns. His dimples showing his entire personality in one glance. One simple look at the boy would make you smile.
Although he isn't as perfect as you would think at first look.
Mitch is blind.
Mitch is deaf.
And Mitch is unhappy.
Growing up blind prevented him from seeing the beautiful scenes nature created, the glorious sunsets and the magnificent and graceful creatures that roamed the earth and filled it with beautiful things.
Growing up deaf prevented him from hearing his mother's soothing voice, his father's pep talks, or sister's songs. He couldn't hear the rain or his own sobs when he cries. He can't hear his mother trying to help him communicate with him by sign language. It was like teaching a brick wall to talk.
If Helen Keller can do it, why can't he?
No matter how hard Nel and Mike tried, they couldn't help him learn. Therapist after therapist after therapist...He remained the same.
His brown eyes were bored and his ears was dry.
***
There once was a boy named Scott Hoying.
Golden blonde hair that somehow looked perfect unbrushed, light blue eyes which made you stare into them for hours if you had the chance. Pale, almost white, skin so pure and clean. Bright white teeth which made his smile illuminate the room.
His carefulness around fragile objects and delicate things showing his softside. And his determination showing his protective side.
But he isn't perfect, either.
Scott is mute.
His muteness preventing him from singing songs at church, asking the teacher a question in math class when he didn't know the sign for it. Instead of saying 'mama' he had to make weird shapes with his hand to communicate with people. And barely any stranger he'd run into would know sign language.
Scott's hands were tired and his voice unheard.
___
Mitch sat in the back seat of the silver BMW, 'staring' out the window, he was confused that his eyes would start burning and watering when he started a certain direction, he didn't know that he kept staring back at the sun.
"Are you sure this will work? It's just gonna be like the last time." Nel said to Mike, glancing back at her confused fourteen year old son.
"Honestly Nel," Mike replied to his wife, "I'm just willing to do anything at this point." Nel nodded in agreement, looking back at her son with a soft smile.
She reached her hand back to put it on his leg, he flinched, but then instantly recognized the hand as his mother's and grabbed it, pampering her hand with kisses.
"Awww..." Nel trailed off, this was his way of saying ''I love you'' even if he didn't know it.
Without BSL or the attempt at talking, they came up with his own language. His body language.
It was obvious what he wanted because they'd learned his movement. although sometimes he would want something and they couldn't tell, so he would burst out in tears.
He knew something was wrong with him. He knew when he was in the car, he was going to therapy. Although he didn't know the words, his therapist Jenna tried helping him talk just like the way Annie taught Helen.
The only words he could say clearly was ''Happy'' and ''sad'' and Jenna helped him understand that when he cried, he was sad. And when he smiled, he was happy.
But that's only two emotions.
***
Scott hated therapy. Especially when the therapy included of him meeting another mute kid. First of all, it's awkward as hell. Second of all, what's it supposed to do? Help him cope? Honey, he's been doing that for 14 years.
He knows hes mute and he doesn't care, it's old news to him. Jamming him in a room with a kid who can't speak won't make him go from "I'm mute" to "yay! I'm mute!"
"Its not gonna be like the other ones, bunkin. This one isn't going to help you as much as it will help this boy." Connie, his mother said, noticing her son's bitchface.
"Then why am I going?" He signed. "Because it'll help this boy. Hes in a worse boat then you." She replied softly
"So you're saying I have to be grateful I'm mute?" He asked with a bigger bitchface. Connie raised an eyebrow
"Of course that's not what I'm saying. You know that's not what I'm saying." She said, Scott sighed in defeat.
"If you can help him, isn't that good?"
Scott nodded, slouching down in his seat as he looked out the window, his mother pulling into the parking lot of the building.

"What's his name again?"
Nel asked worridly to Jenna as Mitch laid on the blue couch, his arms crossed and his gaze locked on the ceiling. Jenna gave a comforting smile to Nel. "Scott. And he's very nice, I'm sure that they'll get along fine."
"What if they don't? I'm really worried about Mitch, Jenna." Mike said. Jenna sighed.
"This is just a new step, alright? Don't worry, he's learning." Jenna said, she walked toward Mitch and put her hand on his forehead as she crouched down.
Mitch instantly reached up and grabbed her hand to see who it was.
"Nnnn" he said, that was the closest he could get to Jenna.
Jenna smiled widely and put his hand on her mouth to show him she was happy, that he did good.
"Happy." He said, feeling her smile with his fingers. Jenna nodded and he removed his hand. "Very good, Mitch." She said, despite the face that he couldn't hear.
Then there was a knock on the door."Ms. Clawfield?" Connie's voice said as the door was slightly pushed open.
Jenna stood up and smiled.
"Come on inside, Connie." She said, walking over to the door. Connie walked inside, Scott trailing behind her with a bored expression. Jenna smiled at them.
"Connie, Scott, this is Mike and Nel. Scott, That's Mitch over there." Jenna introduced, gesturing to Mike and Nel and then to Mitch who was still laying on the couch.
Scott nodded, still unsure of what was wrong with him, although wouldn't be confused for a second more.
"Scott, Mitch here is deaf and blind." Jenna said, looking over at Mitch. Scott's eyes widened in surprise, he'd only ever met mute boys at these things, never someone deaf or blind. Let alone both.
"Would you like me to introduce you to him?" Jenna asked, Scott nodded. "Why don't you guys go sit outside, okay?" Jenna asked the parents, they obeyed and left the room, leaving only Scott, Mitch, and Jenna.
"Okay, don't be scared if he moves your hand back. Meeting people is very scary for him." Jenna informed the fourteen year old blond as they walked over to Mitch.
Scott nodded. "Okay..." Jenna mumbled as she took Mitch's hand and gently pulled him up for him to sit.
Once he was sitting upright, she grabbed Scott's hand as well.
"Okay Mitch, this is Scott." Jenna and Mitch's family often talked to Mitch as if he could hear.
She slowly brought Scott's hand to Mitch's. The second she did, Mitch snapped hand back.
"No worries, he's just processing." Jenna whispered to Scott. Jenna held hands with Scott as Mitch held onto Jenna's hand so he could know that Scott was a friend of Jenna's and wouldn't be scared.
Mitch's eyebrows furrowed as he felt Scott's hand, his eyes on the floor.
Mitch soon separated Scott and Jenna's hands and held on to Scott's, trying to memorize the pattern of his fingers and the softness of his skin so he'd be able to remember him.
Mitch reached his hand out. "Here, Scott. Smile a bit so he knows everything is okay. Don't be freaked out, he just needs to feel what you may look like, it's how he meets people."
Mitch with zero hesitation, felt Scott's face with both hands, feeling his smile. Scott closed his eyes before Mitch thumbs grazed across his eyelids carefully.
Mitch moved his hands and felt Scott's smile again. Mitch smiled as Scott's smile widened
He moved his hands back to the left to get to Jenna, she grabbed both of his hands. He moved her fingers to his mouth and smiled.
"He's very happy." Jenna told Scott. Mitch still held onto Jenny's hand, just to make sure he alone.
"Okay...now he's gonna get little less friendly..." Jenna mumbled as she sat down and turned so she was sat in front of him. "Could you grab one of those cookies there?"
She asked, pointing over at the blue and pink polka dot plate which had a few sugar cookies on them. Scott nodded and fetched a cookie as she asked.
Scott gave her the cookie which she held in her right-hand and Mitch's hand in her left. She set the cookie on Mitch's leg.
She held both of his hands. "C-O-O-K-I-E. Cookie." She said, using Mitch hand to sign.
Mitch whined as she did so, he hated this. Scott watched with great interest as he sat on his knees on the ground.
Since Mitch couldn't say what was wrong, him throwing fits were the worst. He would cry and scream random gibberish and couldn't hear or see anybody, so all you could try and do was hug him.
Trying to teach Mitch to sign was the core of most his tantrums.
Mitch snapped his hands away and went to grab the cookie which was only grabbed away from him by Jenna."No. C-O-O-" Mitch whined again and pushed her away.
Scott watched this learning process and didn't know what to do, sitting down and doing nothing seemed like the better option.
"Araaaaaa!" Mitch yelled as Jenna grabbed his hands gently.
Jenna sighed as she surrendered her hands but still held the cookie behind her back and out of his reach.
"Can I help?" Scott asked (signed). Jenna nodded, seeming as that was the main reason he was here.
Scott grabbed the now half broken cookie and snapped a piece off. He took Mitch hand.
"Uhhhhh..." Mitch said hopelessly. Scott put the small piece in his hand. Mitch recognized it, and instantly popped it in his mouth.
After he ate the bite sized piece, Scott gently grabbed his other hand and held it up so his palm was facing the ceiling.
And then Scott signed it letter by letter on his hand.
''C-O-O-K-I-E''
He did it a few times until Mitch did it on his own. Jenna gasped quietly.
"That's the first word he's ever signed."
"You just need to give it to him before the first few times." Scott signed, he remembers when he had to learn sign language, he hated it too.
Of course, he'd been learning it since the time he could understand words, but that still didn't make it any less annoying.
"Thank you...oh my gosh, I'm so happy!" Jenna exclaimed. She grabbed Mitch's hand and put in over he large grin. He then cheered in gibberish and squeezed her face in excitement, he don't really know why she was so happy, but it made him happy when she smiled.
"Happy!" He said. Scott didn't really understand at first since his voice sounded quite weird, but he guessed he said 'happy' since it sounded similar.
"Yes Mitch, happy." Jenna replied.
