it has been a rough few weeks....
*Scott and Mitch both talk about the rough few weeks they have had as a family. Thank you to VivaLaRuca for helping me come up on how to write this! Love • Bree ❤️*
Right now, Mitch, Gabriella and Scott are all sitting on the couch together and they are getting ready to film a video discussing the last few weeks and to set the record straight.
Both Mitch and Scott both want their side of the story to be heard and for their fans and other people to not get things twisted or hear the story from someone else.
Mitch is currently feeding Gabriella her afternoon bottle and Scott is holding Bubba in his lap.
"Are you ready to film this video, Mitchy?" Scott asks Mitch softly.
"I am ready as I'll ever be, Scotty. I just want the video done and for people to stop assuming or making up lies about everything." Mitch says to Scott and Scott nods.
"I know, Mitchy. I know. Once this video is posted, everybody will know what has been going on and stop assuming things." Scott says to Mitch as he kisses him and then Gabriella's head.
*Gabriella's outfit*
Scott carefully sits Bubba down on the floor and he happily runs over to Tux, Daisy and Lucy, who are all laying and cuddling together!
Scott fixes the vlogging camera on the tripod and he sits back down next to Mitch and Gabriella on the couch.
"Ready, Mitchy?" Scott asks Mitch softly and Mitch happily nods at him.
Scott clicks the camera remote on and the camera turns on, causing the video to begin!
"Hello, everyone." Scott says with a small smile and a little wave as he then looks over at Mitch.
"Hi, everyone. It has been a really long time since we filmed anything on here! I think the last thing we posted was Gabriella's birth vlog." Mitch says as he smiles at Gabriella who is finishing drinking her bottle.
"No, we posted some clips of Sawyer's sixth birthday party too." Scott says softly to Mitch as he rubs his back.
"Oh, that's right! My brain has been in a big fog since everything has happened. I first want all of you to know that we all very thankful, very appreciative and love all of the love and support for all of us these last few weeks. We truly feel it!" Mitch says and Scott nods in agreement.
"We also want to say thank you to all of you for not hounding us for answers and an explanation on what has been going on. Mitch and I really needed some time to deal with this as a family and to make sure all of us were okay and doing well." Scott says to the camera.
"So let's start from the beginning. Gabriella was born on September 17th and we were on the hospital for two days. My recovery from the c-section was rough this time because they removed by fallopian tubes and my uterus as well, so no more babies! The next few weeks were smooth sailing and very nice! We spent a lot of time as a family with the kids doing virtual school a few days a week and we spend a lot of much needed time with my parents and Scott's parents." Mitch says and Scott nods.
"Yeah, it was so nice to have the extra help of our parents for the first few weeks. I got to focus on just Mitch, Gabriella and I got a lot of work done while they helped run our household and spend time with the kids." Scott says to the camera.
"My parents and Scott's parents stayed with us until a few days after Sawyer's sixth birthday, which was on October 2nd. We had a really fun Roblox themed birthday party with our family and some of Sawyer's friends! Sawyer had a blast." Mitch says and Scott nods in agreement.
"Sawyer said it was the bestest birthday party he has had ever!" Scott says as he and Mitch both giggle and smile at each other.
"So on October 4th, I got a phone call from one of Liam's best friends stepfather and he said that Liam's best friend Bryceton was hit by a car two days ago and that Bryceton wasn't doing well at all. Bryceton was out on a walk with a few of his cousins and they were taking the dogs out for a walk and a truck hit Bryceton and left the scene. Bryceton flew like ten feet in the air and landed on his head. So I told Scott about the call and we waited for Bryceton's mom to call us because I am close with her." Mitch says to the camera as he burps Gabriella on his shoulder.
"We are close with all of our children's parents. We are friends with a lot of them actually. Bryceton's mom and Mitch are really close though, since Bryceton and Liam have known each other since preschool. They went to preschool together, elementary school, middle school and now they just started high school together. They have played soccer, lacrosse and flag football together too. Liam is close with all of his team mates but he and Bryceton had an extremely close bond." Scott says as he rubs Gabriella's head.
"A few hours later, Bryceton's mom called us and a few other of Bryceton's closest friends' parents to let us all know that Bryceton was brain dead and that he would be donating all of his organs. Bryceton's brain couldn't recover from the accident and he was passing away. Bryceton always talked about organ donation because a kidney donor saved his dad's life so Bryceton's mom knew she had to let Bryceton's wish happen. Bryceton's mom is the strongest mother ever. I wouldn't have been even able to talk to people about my son's death like she did. She is so strong to do what she did and Bryceton saved ten people." Mitch says as he tears up.
"Hi, Bryceton's mom if you are watching this video! She told us we can talk about her son and about what happened to him. She wants to spread awareness about hit and runs and drink driving. She believes the person who hit Bryceton was drunk and that's why they didn't want to stop. She is also looking for the person who did this and get justice for Bryceton." Scott says and Mitch nods in agreement.
"So Liam, Hudson, Sophia, Isabella and I went go Bryceton's funeral service. Scott stayed home with Sawyer, Amelia, Joel and Gabriella. The little ones didn't need to go and plus we didn't want Gabriella around strangers due to Covid. Hudson, Sophia and Isabella went to support Liam but also to support Bryceton's siblings who they are friends with. It was a beautiful service." Mitch says and Scott nods.
"Bryceton has three younger siblings. Two younger brothers and a younger sister that are Hudson, Sophia and Isabella's ages." Scott says to the vlogging camera.
"Liam hasn't taken this well at all. Like at all which we kinda of expected because none of our children have experienced a death of someone they are close to yet until now. Liam hasn't been eating much, he hasn't been sleeping much and he just hasn't been himself. I planned for him to go back to his doctor to get checked out but due to Covid, getting an appointment is hell on Earth. But I made one and we had to wait a few days to go in and see the doctor. The night before his appointment, I just had a feeling something was going on. My Dad gut was telling me for someone to go check on Liam often then we have but Liam was being so secretive. Liam didn't come downstairs to do his virtual school, he stayed in his bedroom. He stayed in his bedroom all day except to get snacks and drinks. So we were getting ready to have dinner and I asked Hudson to go upstairs and tell Liam it was dinner time." Mitch says as he begins to get upset and Scott rubs Mitch's back.
"When Hudson walked into Liam's bedroom, he found Liam putting handfuls of pills in his mouth and chugging water down. Hudson tried to stop Liam from taking anymore pills but he and Liam got into a big scuffle, they were fist fighting. I never knew Hudson could fight like he did but he can! I ran up there and found them fighting on the floor and I quickly broke it up. Hudson then told me what happened and Liam was adamant that he wanted to die and that it was his time to die and that he has nothing to look forward to. Luckily, Mitch came up and we both got Liam to think rationally and with sense again and we took him straight to the hospital. Luckily, our makeup artist and best friend Nicole was at our house visiting and she was able to watch the seven other kids for a few hours." Scott says as he takes Gabriella from Mitch and Mitch cries loudly.
"Once we went to the hospital and the doctors gave Liam a ton of medicine to stop the affects of the medicine and they pumped his stomach a little which was horrific to see. We later found out that Liam tried to overdose on Tylenol. Liam then began to get really sick with nausea then throwing up, then chills, tiredness and stomach pains which is symptoms from having a Tylenol overdose. The doctors said he just had to get through it and they gave him medicines to help him get comfortable through out that time. Liam was sick for about two days. The medicine just had to get out of his system. Luckily, Liam hasn't had any lasting effects from the Tylenol overdose. All of his organs are healthy and just fine, thank goodness. We caught it right in the beginning and we were able to reverse it quickly." Mitch says as he sniffles.
"Liam later told Mitch and I that he did not want to die at all. He did it as a cry for help. He just wanted to not be sad anymore. Liam was tired of crying and tired of being sad. He wanted his best friend back. He wanted all of this to go away. Liam doesn't like to express his emotions much so it makes sense why he did what he did. But Liam now knows he can talk to us or any of the adults in his life about how he feels." Scott says and Mitch.
"Liam was on suicide watch at the hospital for a few days and then he talked to a therapist at the hospital as well as his regular therapist. Due to Covid, the therapy place she works at has been closed so she hasn't been able to see clients. Liam also saw a grief counselor and he will talk to the both of them a few times a week for the next few months to help him. Liam was also put on another type of medicine, a depression medicine to help him with his depression he has right now. Liam has never had depression before so he was only on anxiety medicine so now he takes both anxiety and depression medicine." Mitch says and Scott nods.
"It has been a few weeks since all of this happened. This happened on the 10th. So Bryceton died on the on the fourth and his funeral was the seventh. So three days after the funeral, this all happened with Liam. We are making this video to one, tell all of our devoted fans who love and adore not only Matt, Kirstie, Kevin, Avi, Mitch and I, but you all also love and adore all of our children. We are very sorry that all of us have been so quiet about this topic, we all just needed time to heal and recover from this event. We appreciate Avi, Kirstie, Matt, Kevin and their amazing spouses Kate, Blaine, Grace and Tara for not answering any of the questions from everyone and just asking for everyone to pray for all of us. They also told everyone they wouldn't say anything until Mitch and I were ready to discuss it. We love all of them very much, they are family to us!" Scott says and Mitch nods.
"The second reason we are making this video is that we want to spread awareness about mental health and especially adolescent mental health. I feel like people just assume that teenagers being moody and wild is normal but in reality, a lot of those things could be mental health problems that could easily be addressed and conquered with therapy or medicine. Scott and I have both struggled with mental health issues so we are huge advocates for mental health and especially our children's mental health. We just want parents to be aware of their children's mental health and to end the stigma of it." Mitch says as Scott nods.
Scott is also rubbing Gabriella's back and she is fast asleep on his shoulder.
"The final reason we wanted to make this video is to tell our side of the story. We know a lot of news sites have speculated things and tried to report stories that were false and not true at all. Mitch and I both wanted to make sure the facts and the true story of what happened was said and said by us on a public platform so everybody can see it. We don't want rumors to spread about us and especially our children." Scott says to the vlogging camera.
"Well, Halloween is coming up and we will try to film a little video of it for all of you! We are going to a Halloween party of just Pentatonix members and close friends and it is going to be a lot of fun and we will be staying safe." Mitch says to the vlogging camera.
"It is going to be a lot of fun. Well, we are going to head off here! We are going to go shopping and spoil the kids a little bit. They deserve it after the few weeks we have been through." Scott says and Mitch nods.
"Bye guys! See you all in our next video, which will be a good and happy one!" Mitch says and Scott nods happily.
"Bye guys! See you next time!" Scott says as he waves goodbye.
Mitch and Scott both blow a kiss at the camera and wave goodbye.
For the rest of the day, Mitch and Scott hang out with the kids! :)
Mitch posts a picture of himself hugging Liam and they are cuddling on the couch together. He writes the caption as: "it has been a rough few weeks for our family. one of liam's early childhood best friends passed away suddenly and it has been extremely hard on him. liam or any of our children have dealt with a death before so it has been hard on all of our children. I want all of you to know that liam is safe and is healing now. he gave us a scare a few days ago but he is now on a different medicine and in counseling to help him get out of this dark time. thank you guys so so much for praying and supporting our family as well as bryceton's family. ❤️"
Scott posts a picture of Liam drinking an iced tea and he is grinning at Scott. He writes the caption as: "liam is slowly feeling back to himself after having a rough few weeks. liam lost his early childhood best friend bryceton suddenly and it has torn him apart and liam got into bad place mentally. liam has never dealt with death so close before so this has been his first experience it has been a rough one. now things are calming down and liam is slowly recovering from everything. we appreciate all of you so so much ❤️"
