We Light It Up, We Won't Come Down
(A/N and yes, this idea is from the Greatest Showman 🎩🎪🎵 I also did not proof read, sue me)
Scott flipped his baton, taking off his hat, and bowing. "THANK YOU! COME AGAIN!"
The crowd left, the circus crew getting everyone and everything packed up.
"How was I?" Kirstie asked. She was a contortionist, who got to do tricks with the other contortionist named Esther.
"You both were amazing, good job." Scott said. "Kevin! Someone get Kevin!"
The strongman walked over. "Hey, what's up?"
"You nearly dropped Esther, so be more careful, okay?"
"Sorry bout that."
"You're fine, just dont do that again."
Scott walked over to Matt, the firebreather. "Hey, here's your tea."
"Thank goodness!" Matt said, drinking it. "Good show today!"
Scott grinned. "That's what it was!"
"Scott?"
Scott's heart rate sped up, as he turned around. "Yes, beautiful?"
The smaller man in front of him smiled sweetly. "I need to practice, can I stay here?"
"Of course, angel." Scott said.
Mitch smiled again. "Hey! Don't take those down!" He cried.
Scott looked up. "KEEP THOSE ROPES THERE! DON'T TAKE THEM DOWN UNTIL MITCH DOESN'T NEED THEM ANYMORE!"
"Thanks." Mitch said, putting chalk on his hands. "You can stay if you'd like."
"Nah, I'll probably go talk to the elephant keeper." Scott said, walking away.
He was outside of the tent, but heard a beautiful voice singing.
Scott's heart melted, as he turned back around, trying to find where the sound was coming from.
He walked back in the tent, looking up.
Mitch had his ankles and one of his wrists wrapped in the ropes, as he sang 'Hallelujah' to himself.
He pulled a rope, spinning down.
Scott smiled, as Mitch continued singing while he was on the ground.
'And it's not a cry that you hear at night, and it's not somebody who's seen the light. It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah!' Mitch sang, hitting a high note.
"Hallelujah, hallelujah. Hallelujah, hallelujah." Scott sang.
Mitch whirled around. "Scott! Oh my gosh!"
"Your voice is pretty."
Mitch blushed. 'Thanks, I didn't know you could hear me."
"Hey, will you teach me how to do that?" Scott asked, pointing at the ropes.
"Okay, take your coat off, and chalk your hands." Mitch said, fixing the sandbags.
Scott took off his coat, dress shirt, and tie, getting down to his white tank top and leather pants.
"You good?" Mitch asked.
"Yep!"
"Okay, so wrap your hands up." Mitch said. "Here, I'll do it."
Scott held out his hands, Mitch gently wrapping them up in cloth strips.
"How do you get up there?" Scott asked.
"Get up there?"
"Yeah."
"So, see those sandbags? These ropes are tied to them, so when I pull on them, I can go up or down!" Mitch said, putting his foot in the rope loop. "Watch this." He yanked one of the other ropes, the sandbag went down, as he went up.
Scott grabbed Mitch's legs and another rope, as they went up.
"Scott! Put your foot in that loop! You're gon a get hurt!" Mitch exclaimed.
Scott did what he was told. "How do I do cool stuff?"
Mitch grinned, putting his foot in another loop. "Watch." He did a split in the air, flipping upside down.
"That's insane!" Scott exclaimed.
"SCOTT! GET DOWN HERE!" A man yelled.
"HOLD ON! I'M HAVING A MEETING WITH OUR TRAPEZE ARTIST!" Scott yelled back down. "Mitch, angel, keep going."
Mitch smiled. "Do you want me to spin?"
"Yeah!"
Mitch tied a knot around his waist, pulling another rope, spinning down.
Scott's grin faltered, as he saw the knot coming undone. "MITCH!"
Mitch screamed, frantically grabbing at the ropes.
Scott did a tight knot around his own waist, yanking a rope, and falling down at a rapid speed.
He grabbed Mitch, landing on the ground gently. "Are you okay, beautiful?"
"I...I'm fine." Mitch said. "Am I gonna get fired?"
"What? Why would you say that?" Scott asked.
"Because I tied a bad knot, and you had to catch me." Mitch said in almost a whisprer. "I'm sorry."
Scott put two fingers under the trapeze artist's chin, lifting it up. "Sweetheart, look at me. I caught you because I care about you."
"You care about all your crew." Mitch said.
"But I love you." Scott said gently.
"You do?"
"Yes, sweetheart."
Mitch smiled, putting his hand on the ring leader's chest. "Thanks for saving me, Scott."
"Of course." Scott said, leaning down to kiss Mitch. He grabbed a rope, tying it around Mitch's waist.
They both put their feet in the loops, yanking on the rope, and getting pulled up to the top of the tent.
They continued kissing, but Scott was humming a little.
"What song's that?" Mitch whispered.
"We light it up, we won't come down, and the sun can't stop us now." Scott sang softly. "Watching it come true, it's taking over you. This is the greatest show."
