Part 3: The Return - Chapter 22
"Who was your Grandmother?" Andy asked, feeling as if she should have caught on by now. She and Edward were being ushered inside, as they didn't want to be seen by any neighbours.
The lady was silent for a few seconds as they stood in the hallway. She watched Edward's face and opened her mouth like she was going to speak, but didn't.
"...Kim?" Edward said quietly.
"Yes. She was my grandmother."
"Oh, the girl you knew all those years ago?" Andy held her breath. She still hadn't properly taken in that it had been 20 years since she was normal.
"My grandmother died when I was a kid - it was about 20 years ago, actually." She looked at the ground.
"How long have you been waiting for us... well, for Edward to come back? We were up there for a long time."
"Well, my grandmother always told me the story about what happened, and I'd ask if I would ever see him, but she always said no. He should never come back down."
Edward, who had been gazing around at the familiar interior, now looked at the ground as if he'd done something wrong. The woman realised what she'd said and clarified it.
"Oh, but - of course you had to come down from there - that guy... ugh! He makes me sick."
"I know," Andy growled. "Same."
"I've been keeping an eye on him for the last few years - something happened where he was seen stealing things from a computer store." The lady frowned. "I could never figure out why."
"I'd say that was for his little setup we smashed, right Edward?"
"Oh... yes. He was watching through our eyes." Edward said.
"What?" She squinted, trying to figure out if this man was crazy or not. She guessed not, but wasn't sure how what he had said fit in with computers.
"Oh, yeah, he had this system sort of thing where he could look on the screens at what we were seeing. We shattered everything though, so he can't... well I guess the police got him."
"Yeah. But I doubt they'll be able to keep him for long."
