Chapter 33
"No!" Andy said through clenched teeth. "We're never going with you. Not ever." She looked the man in the eye, but her gaze drifted to Edward, who was helplessly being forced to threaten his friend. The man had him in a sort of headlock, gripping his arm so tight his knuckles where white.
Andy felt as if she had no choice. It was either get hurt or risk the rest of her life. She knew what she had to pick.
She slashed at Edward's arm, which didn't hurt him but very much scared him, and as his arm was pulled away from her throat the blade drew a line of blood. She ignored it.
Andy then swiped at the man's chest but he dodged just in time to only get scratched.
"That's ENOUGH." He said loudly. And drew out a knife of his own.
Andy couldn't help but laugh. The sight of this tiny little piece of metal compared to what was attached to the ends of both her and Edward's arms was ridiculous. Although, it was really only her that would likely hurt someone.
"That's it? That's what you've got?" She looked at the knife again. "I mean, you could've at least brought a gun to a knife fight, then you might've had an advantage."
Upstairs Grace was frantic. She knew they needed help from someone, but who? No one in this stupid town would care about a stranger's safety, let alone be useful. Except for the police, but they probably wouldn't believe what had happened. There was another person - maybe. She hadn't seen him in years, and didn't know if he was even still with it, but it was worth a try.
She pulled out her phone and found his number. Ring, ring.
"Hello? Grace? Oh I haven't talked to you in a long time, how are you?" The old voice came.
Grace tried to steer the conversation in the right direction, not wanting to get overrun with small talk. She got to the point.
"Edward's here. EDWARD. You know, from all those years ago? I need your help."
