Chapter 32

Andy realised after a full minute that she was holding her breath. She breathed in deeply, then sighed. Edward gave her a nervous look.
"Do you think this is ever going to end?" She said quietly, focusing on the glint off Edward's brown eyes, as that was all she could see of him. He didn't reply, and she figured it was because he was too scared to make a noise.
Footsteps stomped from above them, leading to the stairs. He was coming down. Grace hadn't been able to divert him or distract him?
"Edward," Andy whispered and Edward stopped gazing into nothing, looking straight at her.
"Yes?" He said.
"I think they're coming down here. That idiot must have seen through Grace." She frowned in thought. "We've got to be ready to do something when he finds us."
Edward still said nothing, but instead watched her with a sort of fascination as she tried to formulate a plan. Her scissors snipped and he glanced down at his own. He really hoped she wasn't thinking of...
"Ugh, I've got nothing," she grumbled, "I'm too excited. But in a bad way."
They heard a loud, "No! There's no one down there!" And Andy mentally facepalmed.
"My god, what a complete dump!" Their chaser laughed patronisingly as his voice got closer and closer. "And I thought I lived in a wreck,"
Andy wasn't breathing again. What were they going to do now that he had them cornered?
"Ah, a very convenient cupboard." They practically heard his smirk. "I wonder if anyone's... INSIDE?" And he flung open the doors in a rage, grabbing the pair by the wrists and yanking them out.
At seeing the look of horror on their faces, something snapped inside of Grace that she didn't even know existed. She shoved the inventor's son and then kicked the back of his leg, but it didn't seem to worry him.
He spun around and slashed Edward's hand right past her face, not hitting her, but intending to.
Then Andy put up a struggle trying to break the man's grip, and Grace silently disappeared up the stairs.
Andy managed to make a cut in the man's hand, to which his reflexes let her go. He roared and his grip on Edward's wrist tightened. He spun around and held his newfound weapon up to her throat.
Everything stopped for a second, as Andy first looked at the anger in the man's eyes, and then at the dread and fear in Edward's.
"You're coming with me, if you like it or not." The man said, pushing the blades closer. "Aren't you?"
