Merlin walking the long castle corridor towards the throne room with Sir Leon, was only slightly anxious. Sure, it was the king he was meeting for the first time, but if this guy was related to Arthur, how bad could he really be? Answer: really bad.

Leon and Percival pushed open the heavy door, and what Merlin saw was not at all what he expected. 

He predicted the king would be more, what's the word, better? Yeah, that's what he expected. Better.

Instead he got kid no older that twenty five, with bad posture and horrid  hygiene. No, seriously. The guy smelled like Arthur's feet, not even kidding.

"Sire," Percival said to get the king's attention, who was, at that current moment, checking his teeth in the jewels of his crown, "this is Merlin Immortal, your court physician."

"Merlin," Pierre said, obviously distracted by something in his empty cranium.

"Yes, Merlin," Sir Leon repeated.

"You know, Merlin," the king said to, well, Merlin, " I don't like your name. I'll call you, um, Colton! Yes, I like that. Colton. You look like a Colton, you know. That's your new name. Colton. Don't let me forgot that. Dismissed."

Mer-, I mean, Colton, turned to walk out and return to his work when King Pierre called on him oncer more.

"Colton?" the new ruler asked.

"Yes, my lord?" Merlin replied very politely.

"I hope a don't need to remind you that sorcery and all associates is highly illegal and the only punishment I will ever give for magic or practicing magic or hiding/aiding  a witch or warlock is death," the king said, very harshly.

"Don't take it personally, Merlin,"said Sir Leon, after they were out of earshot of the king."Aboutthe name thing. He's done it to every single servant he has meet so far."

"So you don't have to call me Colton?" 'Colton' asked.

"No, just the king," Sir Percival replied. 

"It's all really idiotic, to be honest," Leon added.

"Yeah," Merlin said, barely audible. 

They talked about the name thing, but all Merlin could really think about was the warning about magic.
