Fade Away
The stars were something she could relate to. Many people didn't appreciate them enough. People didn't appreciate that they shone bright to add some light to the darkness of the night. Some attempted to douse the light; stars didn't even give off that much light, they said. The light that they did give off was much too dim, they said. It was nothing compared to the light of the sun, they said. They could do without stars, they said.
But stars were too far away from the earth for anyone to see them properly. They weren't close enough, and few could even get close enough to them to see just how bright they were, to appreciate them and to realize how wondrous they could be.
Still, the stars shone bright against the black. They climbed into the sky at night and illuminated it. They may not have shown during the day; they may sometimes have been hidden by clouds; they may have been stifled at times, yet they never faded away (until they had already survived their one hundred billion years and became supernovae and exploded and finally died out). They refused to fade away.
And, much like the stars that she looked upon at night, she would never fade away.
