Chapter Two: Do your Homework

"I never want to do that again."

"You realise that was only the first day, right?"

"It feels like I've been working here for six years already..."

It hadn't been an easy first day, if they were being completely honest with themselves. The only positive side that presented itself in the six hour long day was lunch and break, both of which they spent eating and talking to the students that hung around the classroom to speak to the teachers whether they were enthusiastic or completely lost. ( y/n ) didn't even bother to hold her grudge through the lessons for Mark being late, too focused on the small kids who were either too nervous to do anything or going straight to their friendship groups from their old school. There was always the energetic kids who wanted to see how much they could get away with, although luckily they hadn't pushed their luck too much.

"I don't get how you could read half of the writing, it was incomprehensible to me." Mark stated tiredly as he flicked through the textbooks, although smiling slightly as he read through - with some trouble, of course - what the kids had scribbled that they want to be when they're older. ( y/n ) merely shrugged as she sat at one of the tables, looking through some of the posters they had made to help them ease into the new school life in a calmer way. Not that it had been a completely calm day though, with more than one child getting lost and ending up outside the door crying after another teacher had found them hiding behind a block because they were too nervous to go to their class late; truth be told, it had been fairly eventful.

"You kinda' get used to it after a little while, I guess. I don't know how you managed to stand up in front of them and actually talk, that would scare the Hell out of me." ( y/n ) commented back, glancing over at Mark with a raised eyebrow as he looked up in slight surprise, not expecting her to say that and actually smiling to himself as he looked back down at the textbooks as he figured it was good enough for him. It was almost strange how calm everything was now compared to the loudness that had ran through the corridors all day, usually made up by the sound of shouting children and too-big backpacks hitting door frames or other people.

"It's something I'm okay at, I guess. Talking in front of people isn't for everyone." He stated calmly as he looked through the last book, a little intrigued as one of the kids had wrote in messy letters 'Youtuber' as their dream job but just shrugging it off as he closed the book and placed it on the top of the pile.

For a moment there was pure silence before there was a small tapping at the door, the two simultaneously lifting their heads to look at whoever was at the door. Aaron smiled as he leaned against the doorframe, waving to the duo calmly as he glanced from one to the other with slight curiosity. ( y/n ) chuckled and waved back normally but raised an eyebrow as Mark waved back goofily, surprisingly childish despite being so professional around them. Although, that hadn't stopped him humming the Goofy Goober song whilst he'd been walking around the classroom as the students worked so—

"A bunch of the other teachers are going on a night out, you guys want to join? We won't be out too late obviously, but that doesn't mean it won't be fun." Aaron offered with a hopeful smile as he stood up properly, unsure of which of them would go or if either would go at all. What he certainly didn't expect was one of their hands shooting up in the air at the same time, the two of them already into the idea of drinking and especially after such a long day. Neither seemed to notice the childish way they had put their hands up but it caused Aaron to grin, nodding to the two of them as he headed out of the door and gestured for them to come with him. ( y/n ) turned to face Mark and he looked back, the both of them nodding to each other before grabbing their coats and bags as fast as they could before sprinting out to catch up with Aaron.

One thing that seemed to solve the problems of a long days work was drinking.

Already there was at least eight teachers at the club and it was filled to the brim with people dancing, drinking or flirting with whomever was nearby but whoever they wanted to. Mark had taken some tablets earlier to help him handle his liquor before going on to sitting at the bar with Aaron and what looked like Mr Hanson, one of the art teachers who'd worked here a little longer and actually had a surprisingly good reputation. Aside from the fact he was known as a complete goofball and could have a Hell of a temper if pissed off too much.

( y/n ) was sat on one of the sofa sipping her drink calmly, quite glad they were all able to change before coming here but still not sure exactly how to introduce herself to the others. Sure they all seemed nice enough people and drinking was fun, but the fact there was so many people around made her nervous; the fact she'd put on an outfit and makeup specifically for clubbing was a little embarrassing, especially since she was too nervous to start up a conversation with anyone.

Although it seemed she wouldn't have to as someone sat beside her calmly, a tad drunk but still not invading her personal space as he sat up and smiled at her in a friendly manner. He had fairly long black hair that had been straightened and his shirt showed he was obviously into bands, although he didn't seem too extreme that he was scary or anything like that. Although she couldn't see his ears to see if they were pierced his snake bites and brow piercing were easily visible, but not to the point where they distracted her from his dark brown eyes or his surprisingly shy smile.

"You okay?" He asked curiously, raising a brow as he sat comfortably beside her on the leather sofa and sipped his drink. ( y/n ) smiled back timidly but attempted to pretend that she was relaxed instead, shrugging as she held her drink in both hands and raised a brow back at him.

"I'm good, what about you?" What she said may have been a lie if she'd been asked as soon as she'd got into the club, yet now she was finally talking to somebody who wasn't a complete drunk or someone attempting to show off their dancing she didn't feel quite as scared anymore. Even if she didn't know the damn guys name.

"I'm okay I guess, just not used to... This. Are you new too?" He explained vaguely as ( y/n ) sipped her drink whilst listening; the idea she and Mark weren't the only new teachers to the school didn't surprise her, but he seemed to be fitting in much better than her and... Who was this guy?

"I'm one of the new assistant teachers. I'm ( y/n ), nice to meet you." She smiled as she finally introduced herself and paused to move her drink into one hand before holding out the other, her smile switching into a grin as he took her hand and shook it calmly.

"I'm Gunner, but a bunch of people call me Entoan. Not sure how that happened, really." He told her with a shrug once the handshake finished, sipping his drink again that was very obviously having an effect on him. Not that he hadn't been slightly drunk before, but it was visible now that he was already going to end up with a bad hangover. ( y/n ) raised her eyebrows at his state but despite work tomorrow she didn't have an awful lot to worry about, only needing to head into work at 12 rather than incredibly early; it was a lucky break for the second day of work, a chance to recover from the hangover she'd definitely have too.

"Well Entoan, what do you teach?" She questioned curiously as she relaxed and leant back in her seat, not really minding that she was sitting quite close to Entoan. In fact it seemed a little reassuring, especially with all the people around that she hadn't even spoken to. It actually took Entoan a moment to think through what she'd said or perhaps what his job actually was, pondering for a moment before he suddenly understood.

"Um, music. I'm better at that then a lot of other stuff, so it kind of works." Entoan admitted with a bashful grin, appearing slightly embarrassed but also pretty okay with talking about it. Either that or he was simply blushing because he was drunk, which to be honest could have been the answer to that question by now. ( y/n ) grinned back at the idea as she decided the rest of her drink was almost done and swigged it immediately, pulling the glass on the small table beside the sofa before she turned to Entoan and grinned at him shyly.

"I bet you're good at a lot of stuff. If that fails, you're still a cutie'." She stated a little quietly with a giggle, glancing down for a moment in slight embarrassment whilst Entoan watched her, completely red-faced and blinking in surprise as he attempted to think of what to say next. The mere fact she'd been able to down her drink impressed him, so there was only one thing he could think of to say.

"Can I kiss you? I-I don't want to just kiss you or anything since that's weird but I wanted to ask and—" He blurted out before he could correct himself and ended up rambling, causing the woman to freeze for a moment and turn her gaze to him; it was her turn to bloom bright red as she tried to think of how to respond, a little surprised by his drunk question but not angered in the slightest.

"I'm up for leaving to makeout if you are." ( y/n ) suddenly stated before she blinked in surprise too, blushing bright red from the fact she had said such a thing but her face going even darker when Entoan's hand took her hand as he put his empty glass on the table and began to weave through the people towards the exit, helping her head out and causing a certain teacher to stare in confusion as they left.

"It always happens. You'll be surprised at what happens here." Arin commented to Mark as he sipped his drink, grinning as he moved his gaze away from the door and back to the bar. Mark merely watched in confusion, not sure why she'd gone off with one of the other teacher's when he'd been about to introduce her to the others.

"This is normal...?" He asked quietly, turning his gaze over to the respected art teacher and gaining a nod in reply as the two sipped their drinks, slightly away from the others. Arin smirked slightly, glancing over at the door with his eyebrows raised suggestively.

"They may be teachers, but they weren't taught workplace rule 101: Never sleep with another co-worker when you're drunk." He stated in a relaxed tone, patting Mark on the back as the man seemed to sulk slightly.

Maybe he didn't know as much as he thought he did.
