Demons on Fire
As I walk through the green fog, trying to track down the demons that have emerged, I think about what Mr. Wensday told me about demons. There are a few set rules if we wanna defeat these things. Particularly those S class demons...
1: On full moons A class demons will appears, killing then is vital to slaying the S class demon lords. Each one rules over three A class demon lords, while the specific A class demons, which are frankly more A+ class demons. Killing all three will weaken the S class demons, make them mortal...
2: Killing lesser demons will enhance The Gift. Magic can be taken if I'm near a demon that dies.
3: Most important of all, have a clear mind, free of guilt. Or else-
He dashes past me suddenly, running towards a small F class demon, a Bitter Sludge, black pile of goop with a mask that has an angry expression on it, indicating it is a wrath demon. The mask being the weak point, the creature turns into smoke as soon as Wilson shatters its mask with his knife.
"What are you doing out!?!" I demand.
"Same as you," he replies, "hunting demons."
"I have magic," I remind summoning a purple arcane light in my hand, "I can fight and do... well... this."
I summon a purple veil around Wilson and fire a round at his arm, which bounces off his arm.
"Oh," he replies, "so basically a defense booster."
I nod.
"Can you do that for offense?" He asks.
I shake my head.
"Well that's useless," he shrugs.
"What?" I ask, "this has saved my skin more times then I can count!"
"Well does it help defeat the threats?" Wilson asks, "no. The best defense against those who hurt the inoccent is a crushing, merciless, and unforgiving offense."
"Well what's more important?" I ask, "saving those who are in danger or killing the threat?"
"I'll take vengeance if I can't have justice," Wilson shrugs.
I can't even respond to such backwards logic. I try to speak, but words just don't form. I'm left stunned, trying to form some reply in my shock to no avail.
"That aside," Wilson shrugs, "if you're gonna accept help from others then I do know of another with The Gift who is in danger since she seems to have just acquired it. Do you know Shelby?"
"Leader of the karate club?" I ask.
Wilson nods, "yeah. Catherine, I'm assuming you can guide her in this? I know I can't. I have no magic."
"Maybe you do," I reply spotting a D class Sloth demon, a Gorger, which devours all in its path, a four legged, black hound with rows and rows of teeth like a crocodile, its fur turning to green scales at the half way mark into a crocodile tail, "just focus on the enemy. Take a deep breath."
Wilson complies, glaring at the demon.
"In your head tell yourself you want it gone," I explain, "and snap your fingers."
He obeys, but nothing happens. The snap does make it face us, forcing us to leap back as it charges towards us. Wilson mounts the five foot long monster and stabs its eye, creating an opening which allows me to put a bullet in its head.
"I had that under control," Wilson glares.
"Well I'm not sorry for killing a demon," I retort, "do you wanna help me find Shelby? She must be-"
There's a scream from outside the courtyard, which causes both of us to snap to attention, it appears to be from the convince store on the same block as the school.
"That's my cue," Wilson explains running off.
"Dammit you don't have magic!" I exclaim, chasing as he rushes towards the fray where Shelby...
Well she doesn't need our help.
She fights off two Gorgers with ease, flicking fire and skilled movements to snap the neck of one that lunges at her.
Wilson charges in nonetheless, stabbing the other one as an F class Reverly demon, a pile of sludge with a frowning mask sneaks up behind the two. A Sorrow Drowning Sludge, which Wilson reacts to before anyone else can, yelling, "look out!"
Suddenly, as he reaches out to push an out of reach Shelby away, three lights extend from his fingertips, one red, one green, and one purple. The three lights surround Shelby, creating a magical barrier much like the one I can make. She smirks and, with her bare hands, moves with intense speed and shatters the mask of the demon.
"Man I feel strong!" She exclaims, "and so nimble! Wilson what did you do?"
"I don't know," Wilson shurgs, "I just... had to keep you safe. There's a cut on your face. Maybe I can..."
Wilson holds out his hand, now with a bright light extending from it, in response to which the cut on Shelby's left cheek quickly closes.
"Can I test something?" I ask.
"Sure," Shelby replies.
I slap Shelby only to have my hand collide with a barrier of arcane energy.
"So I gave the most useless magic ever," Wilson sighs, "great."
"Useless?" I demand, "are you crazy!?! If we kill more demons you could probably handle illnesses and shit! Come on you two!"
I grab both of them, "I need to show you guys something very important..."
