Bloodlust

"I must be going," I sigh, "take a lollipop."

"Thanks," the young man smiles, "I appreciate you helping me with this grammar shit."

"Anytime dude," I smile patting his back as he exits before me, leaving me to lock the door.

I smirk as I exit the school. Finally. Emmret. Men like him...

I walk under the night sky as snow begins to fall. I wonder about the contents of the locket. A photo to remind me that I must not fail again.

I walk past a lake, not yet frozen by the chill, my shoes crunching on the snow as the blaring rave music fills the massion.

I cast a spell on myself to enhance my abilities and put on a skeleton mask as I enter. Crashing Emmret's party. I make a beeline past the drinking teens towards my target, the house massive, with it's own bar, an indoor pool in the other room. I walk under the rave lights, my eye twitching as my heart pounds in my chest. I know my enemy.

I enter the indoor pool area, walking across the brown, fancy floors made of that rocky material I can never recall the name of, before out of the corner of my eye, I see a girl sitting alone on her phone, in her eyes she appears as bitter about this situation as I am. She sighs and leaves the room. I get this vibe...

It may not be to late.

I follow her and tap her shoulder in the main area. I ask the obvious, "do you drink?"

"No," she replies, "of course not."

"Oh you find another wuss?" A beefy young man inquires holding a beer, "I don't get why you're making a big deal about this. Come on. Don't knock it before you try it as they always say."

"Fuck off," she glares.

"Oh come on skelly kid," he turns to me, "you're with me on this right?"

I fake a smile, hiding the wrath within me as that demon appears behind me, nodding with approval. I take his beer, still closed, and open it. I then...

Splash it in his face, and in his brown eyes I see fury.

To strike now would warn the target of my presence.

I taunt, "we are leaving. You wanna settle this? Meet me in the backyard.

"What are you doing!?!" She demands.

I don't respond but head to the back yard, which is empty due to the weather as evergreen trees fill the massive area.

"You little shit!" He exclaims, barging out behind us, "you're not gonna be a party pooper and fuck with me! Square up you runt!"

I take an open stance and signal that I'm ready with my finger, curling it towards myself as a taunt as he charges. As soon as he's close, I use my super human agility to leap over him and get his arm behind his back.

"You are nothing," I whisper, "pressuring another to drink and become a threat like you? Beg."

"Let me go!" He demands.

"Beg!" I demand, laughing. Finally he knows the pain I know every waking moment because of men like him, but he is but a sample of the meal I have come for.

"Auuugh!" He screams as I push his arm towards its breaking point. "God please! Have mercy!"

I let off for a moment and smirk. "No."

I break his arm and knock him out by kneeing his chin. The girl steps back, afraid, but clearly more than ready to defend herself. Appearing justly confident in her abilities as she takes a stance similar to a pro boxer.

"Easy easy," I explain, "I'm not here for you don't worry."

"What have you done?" She demands, her blue eyes full of a mix of rage and confusion as she brushes her short hair, dyed blonde at the tips, but otherwise black, the same color of her shirt for some rock band that match her grey jeans, that look to be slim but hardly fits. Now that I take a look at her, she's really thin, kinda pale. Underweight even. I should know. She's about my height and I am too.

"OK I can explain," I sigh, "when someone underage drinks, the damage that causes is done. For good. That's it. It's done forever. You still with me? You safe from that?"

"Hey I'm just here cause my mom made a big dinner and I wasn't hungry," she explains, "I've never touched a drop."

"OK so stay with me," I proceed, "I had a very very very close friend. Loved her like a sister. Then, the day came. The Fourth of July. Starts drinking wine cause her dad offers her some. Didn't even ask for it. He just walked in while we were chillin. I begged her not to, but she trusted her parents. So... I tried to kill myself. This was after I learned my mom was a stoner and tried to call the cops only for them to learn the emotionally abusive bitch was guilty, confession and all, and walked away and... why am I telling you all this?"

She shrugs.

"I guess I just know I can trust you," I explain, "I just feel like... like... like you're family. Even if we just met. We should be freinds. What's your name?"

"Beth," she replies.

"Well Beth," I proceed, "if you ever need a favor..."

I take off my mask and smile, "I am here to help. Name's Wilson."

"Thanks," she smiles.

"Anytime," I reply putting the mask back on, "anyways, it's gonna get really ugly in like five minutes. You should go."

"Wait," Beth requests, "lemme warn you about one thing."

"What is it?" I ask.

"Emmret," she sighs, "he... he has a knife and he's twice your size. You can't fight that guy."

"Hit me."

"What?"

"Right in the face. Hit me."

"I..."

"Trust me."

She nods and kicks me in the jaw. The barrier protects me, but begins to weaken, yet I am unharmed.

"See?" I smile, "I can take him. Now, go home Beth."

"See ya at school," she shrugs, "good luck, I guess."

"Stay safe," I smile as I head back inside and into the main area of the party. Flashing lights and rave music fill the air as the bastards dance on an actual dance floor with lights. I stomp the floor, darkening the room and speak in a deeper tone, raspy on purpose to make him know the fear I feel, the pain I feel, of those I love getting hurt.

"Emmret," I grin under my mask, "you are a threat..."
