Sam

I take a deep breath as I stand before the school doors as they loom over me, which are nothing compared to the school doors for enormen, positioned about 200 meters away and towering at a hight of at least 130 feet. My blue suitcase stands innocently beside me, handle standing upwards.

I checked my watch, I was still early but I was yet to see an enorman yet. I clenched my fists as I approached the doors.

"The enormen are behind these doors, that's where I'll see them." I thought as I pushed the doors open, one hand pulling the suitcase, and went inside.

The doors lead to a bare, but normal looking school corridor. I passed a few other humans on my way, all of which were either in a pair or a group, chatting among themselves. I eventually found a teacher.

"Good morning, we are collecting your luggage." The teacher says as she sees me approaching.

"Um, okay." Is all I reply with, wheeling the suitcase around to her. She clips a piece of paper to it and removes a pen from her pocket.

"What is your name?" She asks.

"Sam, Sam Perez" She writes my name down and hands the suitcase to another teacher who takes it inside a room behind her.

"Thank you, we still have a little while until school starts, so feel free to look around. After a bell rings, all students are to enter the gymnasium, a teacher should be in the area so you can ask them for directions."

"Okay, thanks." I continued walking down the corridor when up ahead, I realised the left wall was gone. As I walked up, I noticed there were two corridors, one for humans, one for enormen.

I kept looking around at the corridor. The human one was slightly larger then what I was used to at primary school. The corridor for the enormen was a very accurate recreation of the humans, minus the missing left wall and instead having a part from the wall on the right, serving as the human corridor, just below shoulder height for enormen.

I began to notice that the human corridor had lockers, but no classrooms while the enorman corridor had both. I had been examining these differences so I didn't realise how far I had walked, or, what was up ahead.

I heard the yells first.

Looking up, I saw three enormen, the first three I'd seen. Two were male and the third was female, the male on the left had short, black hair and coffee coloured skin, the male in the middle was caucasian and had blonde hair grown into a rats tail at the back, the female stood to the right and had dyed pink hair hanging untied below her waist, and tan skin lighter then blondie but darker then the first male. The guys both wore black pants while the girl wore a skirt and they all shared the same white t-shirt. I looked down and saw myself wearing the same uniform, but I was wearing shorts while the first two enormen wore full-length.

In-between the forefinger and thumb of the blonde enorman, was a slightly overweight human. At first I thought it was a student, but I realised it was a cleaner instead when I saw the clothing to be fully navy blue rather then black and white.

"Let me go!" The cleaner yelled, attempting to pry the massive digits away to no avail. The enorman holding him snickers and raises the cleaner to his chest hight.

"Okay, here you go!" The enorman replies as he places the cleaner inside his breast pocket. The pocket shakes for a bit before stopping as the cleaner admits defeat. "Don't worry, lil' buddy, I'll let you go after school."

I'm about to turn and walk back the way I came before the enormen spy me, when another one passes through the corridor and stops where I am. The enorman notices me and ducks slightly so they can see me better, well, so she can see me better.

"Hey there." The new enorman says, smiling.

"Uh, hi." I respond dumbly, giving an equally as dumb little wave. There's a silence for a few moments as the two of us look at each other. The girl is wearing the same uniform as the other girl, but has natural brown hair tied up in a pony tail. I begin adjusting my glasses slightly when she speaks again.

"Excuse me, are those glasses?" She asks, and it's pretty obvious that she's glad she finally thought of something to say, as she points at me. From my perspective, her finger is gesturing to my whole head but I know she means my eyewear.

"Yeah, they are."

"Okay."

Again, silence.

"This is pretty awkward." I reply after the momentary staring contest we end up accidentally having.

"Yeah, sorry." She replies, blushing slightly. "I'm not good at starting conversations, but I don't know anyone here."

"Me neither, I'm Sam."

"Maya." She extends her index finger. "Nice to meet you."

I take the finger with an opened hand and shake at, as if it was a hand rather then a finger longer then myself. "Same with you." I glance over at the three enorman from before, but they've started walking in the opposite direction.

"I know we just met but, do you think I could hold you?" Maya asks, cheeks flushing slightly. I'm taken aback my the sudden question. "I know it's sudden, but we've been told that the closer we are with our human peers, the better. I've also, uh, never held a human before."

"I've never been hold, either." I mutter, and notice that Maya is still waiting for a response. I realise that I need to speak louder then normal for an enorman to be able to hear me. "Okay then, it'll a first for both of us."

I expected to be plucked up like the cleaner from before, but was pleasantly surprised when instead, an open palm was presented in front of me to walk onto. Hesitantly, I step onto the warm hand and stand in the centre. Maya's fingers begin to curl to about half way and she uses her other hand to steady the one I'm on. Finally lifting her hand to about chin height, I can feel her large amber coloured eyes trained on me.

"Wow." She says under her breath, obviously not expecting me to hear it. Taking my time to stay steady, I ease myself down to a sitting position until I'm sitting crosslegged in the middle of an enorman's palm.

"Guess I'll have to get used to this." I think so myself, looking upwards.

A school bell echoes throughout the halls and people of both humans and enormen begin walking in the same direction. With me still sitting in her palm, Maya follows. I see her glance at the human corridor before looking back down at me.

"Do you want me to keep carrying you, or would you like to walk?" She asks.

I ponder the thought for a moment before replying. "I don't mind, whatever you want."

"Ah, I had the same thoughts."

"Okay, I guess I'll just stay here then." I answer and Maya nods approvingly. We reach a doorway leading into a large gymnasium, already containing lots of enormen. Standing at the door, is an enorman teacher. He sees me on Maya's hand and stops her.

"I see you have a friend already," He says, smiling. "that'll be helpful for getting along with other humans."

Maya looks down to me, then back up to the teacher before replying. "Yeah, we just met actually."

"Oh okay then, anyway, the humans are sitting in another part of the gym." The teacher explains. "It's to the right once you enter."

"Thanks." I call. The teacher smiles again, this time looking at me, but doesn't reply. Maya walks through the double doors and, per teacher instructions, turns right and we find a further part of the human corridor, now wider and missing a roof, making it more like a walkway. Maya gently lowers her palm to the height of the walkway and I hop off. "Thanks Maya, I might see you afterwards!"

"No problem, Sam." Maya responds before walking towards the enormen section. I notice I'm being given weird looks, from both enormen and humans, but I ignore them and walk down the walkway to the human seating.

"Let's get this over and done with." I mutter to myself.
