Otto got saw them more fully as he and Caspian climbed up onto the battlefield. Peter was there at the edge with a helpful hand. He pulled Caspian up first, then Otto. Otto grinned in thanks and Peter patted his friend on the back. Otto turned his gaze back to the trees, mouth open in awe at the sight. The trees were moving. Roots as thick as Otto's chest pulling them across the ground as dozens of them crawled over the battlefield. Soliders were running around them as branches seemed to pierce their armour. Otto watched as a black armoured figure was thrown through the air with a scream. The trees powering through the armies like water.

Around them stone still rained from the catapults. Otto watched as a tree was knocked down. It's leaves seemed to form screaming faces as it fell with a thud to the earth. There was a cracking sound and Otto whipped his head around to watch as roots sprung from the earth around the catapults. The wooden machines were crushed under their grip as the Telmarines fled like ants around them. Otto felt a smile form on his face in amazement of these powerful creatures of nature.

Next to him, Peter was grinning at Caspian's look of shock. "Lucy", he laughed in delight. The scale of battle now falling in the other direction. Otto laughed in relief as Susan and Edmund all ran over.

"Aslan!" Edmund exclaimed with a bright grin. The relief on his face blinding under the dirt and sweat. Susan was smiling widely as she noticed another arrow and lifted her bow. Peter raised his sword, the remains of the narnian army cheering around him.

"For Aslan!"

"For Aslan!" The narnians echoed. Otto hefted his lance aloft as he screamed. With Peter leading, they broke into a run after the trees and the fleeing telmarine soliders. Chasing the opponents down to the forest.

The narnian army chased the enemy through the forest and out down the river. The telmarines all dived into the water, seeking to swim across and regroup on the other side. The councillor and the generals all rode their horses on to the bridge but stopped. Otto halted on the river back on the edge of the forest in confusion. The three Pevensie children and Caspian at his side.

"Why have they stopped?" Susan asked. Otto lifted himself up on tip toes to look over the telmarines to the other bank. On the other side of the bridge stood a lion. His coat was golden in the sunlight and he stood with his magnificent head raised high. Next to him stood a girl in a pale red dress. In her hand gleamed a golden dagger. Otto watched as the lion lifted his head and roared. The sound washed over the two armies, echoing round the forest in a fearsome warning.

"Aslan", Peter breathed, a smile lifting his lips.

"Lucy!" Edmund cheered.

Otto was watching the water. The water level in the river was lowering. Astonished voices rising from the telmarines as the water current lessened. Ther was a rushing noise. The sound of water rapids. Otto turned his gaze up stream. The water was swirling and lifting up in rapidly approaching wave. As it drew closer it seemed to take the form of a old bearded man. It was like the spirit of the river had risen at Aslan's call. The Telmarine's were panicking. Some were scrambling back onto the river bank but the majority of them were frozen in fear and astonishment as the watery figure towered above them. The river spirit had to be several stories tall. It looked over the bridge and the two armies like they were nothing but insects.

The water glistened a deep turquoise in the sunlight, spray falling off it as it churned. Otto watched as the river spirit looked down at Aslan seemingly in permission. The lion nodded and the river spirit thrust out its hands. Scream sounded as all the telmarines fought to vacate the bridge. They hurled themselves into the water, trying to swim back to shore. The bridge creaked and cracked as the river spirit tore it from the earth. He hefted it aloft, looking down at the telmarine leaders still on there. It gazed at them for a second, bringing it closer to his face. Then it collapsed. The water fell back into the river. The bridge nothing more than wreckage that was quickly washed down stream.

"What in the word?" Otto gasp. The rest turned into spluttering as a wave of water engulfed them. He coughed and pushed his wet hair out of his face. Next to him Peter was laughing. Edmund flicked the water from his finger tips at his brother's face, grinning widely. Susan was trying to push her long soaking hair behind her shoulder, giggling in relief that the battle was over.

"He's real", Caspian breathed, gazing across the water to where Aslan stood on the opposite shore. The lion was watching them. Lucy waving at his side. Otto lifted his arm and waved back at her. Around them the remains of the telmarine army were dragging themselves from the river and surrendering. Glenstorm and the other century were taking their weapons and leading them into groups to take them back to the city.

"Come on", Peter said as he waded into the river. Suasan and Edmund promptly followed, Caspian and Otto on their tail. The current was gentle on them as they waded across. The water only coming up to Otto's armpits at the deepest point. The five of them stumbled onto the shore to face Aslan. Peter, Susan and Edmund all fell to their knees. Caspian and Otto hurriedly following their example and dropping. Otto bowed his head, nerves and apprehension tickling his stomach as he knelt before this powerful being.

Aslan smiled warmly. "Rise kings and queens of narnia", he commanded. The Pevensie children all rose. They stood up with their head held high. Only Caspian and Otto remained kneeling.

"All of you".

Caspian looked up in surprise at Aslan. "I do not think I am ready", he objected.

"It is for that very reason I think you are", Aslan replied. Slowly Caspian got to his feet, expression one of awe. Otto bowed his head further.

"That includes you Otto", Aslan's voice was surprisingly deep and gentle, much like he had been in the dream. Otto's head shot up as he blinked. Next to him Peter laughed and grabbed his arm. The blonde dragged him to his feet, smiling at Otto's dumbfounded expression.

"But I was never meant to come here", Otto protested. He looked at the Pevensie children. "I'm just a stowaway".

"Young Otto", Aslan smiled. "You were always meant to come here". Lucy giggled as Otto gaped at him, mouth wide. Caspian looked over and a fond expression fell over his face for a moment.

"Catching flies Birch", Edmund commented. Otto shut his mouth with a audible click.

"Can you see him now?" Lucy grinned, expression cheeky. Her siblings smiled back at her. They were interrupted by a sad little trumpet noise. They turned and watched as the clan of warrior mice marched up the shore. There were about five of them. The sixth mouse was lying on a small stretcher. The mice carried Reepicheep forwards and gently laid him down before Aslan. Lucy gasped and hurried over. She knelt down and pulled a small glass flask from her belt. Gently, she tipped a drop into Reepicheep's open mouth.

The mouse licked his lips and opened his eyes. He perked his head up and rolled to his feet. "Oh", he chirped upon spotting Aslan. "It is a great honour to be within your presence". He gave a little gasp as he promptly stumbled. His tail had been cut off and it was messing with his balance. Reepicheep twisted in an effort to see the little stump, groaning mournfully. "Do forgive me. I appear to be in a state".

"Um your majesty", he smiled, nose twitching. "I am honoured that you saved me. But could I pleased have a little more". He looked at Lucy hopefully.

She frowned apologetically. "I don't think it works that way".

Reepicheep sighed. He drew his sword and laid it before Aslan. "I am regretfully sorry your majesty but I shall have to withdraw. For a tail is a mouse's honour".

"Maybe you think too much of your honour little one", Aslan replied.

"It's not just that. It's also great for balance. And holding things. Climbing. Fighting". Reepicheep listed, stumbling as he tried to walk.

"Would it please your high majesty", one of the other mice voice. They unsheathed their swords and held it up to their own tail. "We would not bare a honour denied to our chief". All the other mice nodded in unison.

"If not for your honour", Aslan decreed. "But for the love of your people". Otto watched as Reepicheep's tail grew up from the stump until it looked like it had never been cut off. Reepicheep gushed in delight.

"Oh I shall treasure it always. Thank you your majesty".

Aslan chuckled at the mice's antics. "Now", he announced. "Where's the dear little friend you were telling me about?"

Everyone turned down stream to where Trumpkin had been helping the telmarine soliders on to the shore. He looked up and met their gazes confusingly. Nervously, he stepped forwards and knelt before Aslan. The lion reared back and roared, almost making Trumpkin jump from fright.

"Do you see him now?" Lucy challenged. Trumpkin nodded sheepishly as Aslan chuckled.

The Pevensie children all laughed. Relief that the battle was over, that they had won filling their veins. Otto leaned against his lance, letting the metal pole take his weight as exhaustion took over his bones. Caspian turned to him, a wide grin on his lips. Otto thought that in that moment, tired and sweaty and dirty, Caspian looked the happiest he had ever seen him. There was a weight lifted from his shoulders and his head was held high.

"Come on", he said softly, holding out a hand for Otto to take. "Let me snow you my home". Otto smiled and took it. Caspian's finger neatly linking with his. Aslan smiled at them then turned to lead the way back to the city. Otto, Caspian and the Pevensie children following along after him.
