Epilogue

As Jungkook placed the white set of flowers on the grave of a stranger- 'whom he admired the most' , a soft smile found it's way on his thin lips "Happy birthday Taehyung.", he muttered before closing his eyes, trying to show respect towards the dead in front of him.

Three year ago, Jungkook had woken up from his deep slumber, surprising everyone who had expected him not to. It was a miracle according to the doctors, being one of the rare cases, Jungkook surely was lucky.

Waking up took away a part of his memory, though he remembered Taehyung. Doctor's said it was natural, since he was the last person the latter saw before slipping in coma.

Jimin gave him Taehyung's letter on the third day of his release. No one thought that a single letter could affect Jungkook's health to an extent where he started skipping meals. He would lock himself in his room, avoiding every living comfort he was receiving.

After 3 months, Jungkook started behaving normal. It wasn't until one day he told Junghyun that Taehyung used to see him... and that he wasn't hallucinating.

It all started with an apology letter, Jungkook's delusion that is.

The doctors said that Taehyung had passed his psychosis to the latter, making him believe that his soul did wander around with the boy.

Junghyun would often wake up at nights to his younger brother's horrifying screams echoing in the mansion. It had resulted in him shifting Jungkook in a Psychiatric ward which was painfully hard for both of them.

It took Jungkook two years to recover from the shock and trauma of Taehyung's death. Doctors believed that Jungkook was healthy and finally ready to go home.

The first thing Jungkook did when he was freed from the asylum was knocking on Jimin's door "Was Taehyung really hallucinating?" He had asked.

"Let's go, Kook." A small hand found it's way on Jungkook's shoulder, making the latter stand up from his kneeling position. He smiled at Taehyung's grave one last time before turning on his heels.

Jimin too glanced at his best friend's grave for the last time before walking towards his car. It was finally the day he was going to fulfil the promise that he had made to Jungkook 6 months ago. And that is why they were on their way to Dr.Lee's house.

Jungkook looked so much better and healthier to Jimin. And the latter couldn't be any happier.

As the car stopped, Jungkook instantly jogged out, not waiting for Jimin to follow. His sweaty hands found their way inside his jean pocket, as he stared at the door in front of him contemplating on whether he should knock or not.

"He doesn't bite.", Jimin said as he rang the doorbell. A childish grin plastered on his face, "You'd love him."

A creak sound caught both the boys attention, making them adjust their postures, "How may I help you?", an old lady thrusted her head out of the small gap. A frown evident on her wrinkled face.

"Ahm.. I'm- we're here to meet Dr.Lee."

The lady muttered a small curse before disappearing inside. Jimin and Jungkook waited outside, one fiddling with the car keys and the other chewing onto his bottom lip, both the males nervous as fuck.

When the door opened completely, it revealed Dr.Lee, "What are you doing here?", he asked with narrowed eyes. The smile Jimin used to love, completely gone, making the latter sigh, "Jungkook wanted to meet you." Dr.Lee stared at both the boys longer than he intended to before nodding and opening the door wide, to let them in.

______________

The Coffee was bitter, something that Jungkook hated with all his gut, "Thank you", he managed to smile.

"You know that I can't share information of my clients, right?" Jimin nodded, "But you left the career behind. And our Jungkook here..", he eye smiled at the younger boy before continuing ".. he too battled from something similar to Taehyung's, He- he believes that Taehyung wasn't hallucinating.", his smile faded and a frown took over his face.

"Why do you think so Jungkook?", Dr.Lee asked, his hands placed comfortably on the either side of the couch, waiting for the boy to respond.

"I- I- well..", Jungkook fixed his gaze on his lap, trying to calm his nerves, "I woke up with no memory of anyone, but I remembered Taehyung.", He looked up, a sigh leaving his lips, "Jimin... can you..?"

"Yeah I'm listening", Jimin perked up

"No. Can you like.. get out?", Dr.Lee looked at Jimin, him too silently asking the latter to leave "I think these questions might turn private.", Jungkook smiled. Jimin scoffed, "Sure. Whatever."

After Jimin left the two males alone, Jungkook released a long sigh, "I didn't want him to know ab-"

"I understand."

"So I was talking..", Jungkook chuckled nervously, "... about Taehyung...", he sighed, "well... I don't know, but it feels like I was there.. y'know.. with him, like a spirit or something?", Dr.Lee nodded, asking him to speak further.

"Uhm, I wasn't sure how to feel about it at first.. maybe my health wasn't that great after all."

"At least that's what the doctor's said... I was mad, and sad, and I don't know how to express the feeling, I was- I was- I was so confused... I saw an old newspaper in my brothers office the other day.. The head lines were about a boy- who killed himself.", Jungkook looked up and met eyes with Dr.Lee's, "It was about Taehyung. Everything written in it was bullshit. Like... how can they assume the pain he's gone through? That night, I got a nightmare. In it, I was standing on the edge of the bridge besides Taehyung. It was scary, the view in front of me, but he grabbed my hand and I was at ease. We jumped together. The water was cold, so cold. I felt myself struggling to breath. It was.. terrifying."

"That dream felt like a Deja vu. I think, that is when I started connecting myself with Taehyung. It was weird how Taehyung too thought that I was real at the start... I don't know what made him believe otherwise. But I assume it was you all along."

"It wasn't me Jungkook, It was always him. Maybe you too carry a doubt. Maybe you too would snatch the littlest opportunity you'd get to believe that you weren't real. Maybe that is why you came here.", Dr.Lee smiled a little before folding his arms above his chest.

"I did my research's and found out things.", Jungkook sighed, "On the night Mino was caught from my hospital room.. Taehyung was there. Officer Kim wasn't willing to give me any details, Hyung too said that he assumed Taehyung was there to meet me."

"But isn't it weird? The meeting hours were over. The CCTV footage of that day shows how lost he was, he was in his night suit..."

"..And he came to visit me on my birthday. He had made a cake for me. J-H-how did he know?"

"How did he know that- that Mino was going to be there? How did he know that Junghyun hyung and I were in danger? How did he know that I had a fight with that man in the parking area that day? J-j-just how?", Jungkook was sobbing, "H-How was I not real? Why did I get those nightmares? Oh my god! I'm so fucking pathetic."

Dr.Lee let the boy cry to his heart's content. He didn't start speaking until Jungkook had recovered from his state "Isn't it time for you to finally change your Facebook status?", He smiled.

"W-wha-the fuck?", Jungkook snorted as he wiped off his remaining tears, "Dude- I- I'm being serious right now."

"Me too Kook.", Dr.Lee's smile widened, "Y'know, Taehyung was a talented kid. He was smart too, he did everything to hide the fact that he didn't push you."

"Y-you know?"

"He took the efforts to find out if you had any enemies. What a clever guy he was."

"Are you going to tell it to-"

"If I would've wanted to then probably Mr.Min wouldn't have been in jail." Dr.Lee chuckled "I'm just answering your questions."

"No you're not."

"Taehyung too had Nightmares, Jungkook. In those dreams, he would see you die. Y'know, he was guilty. Very guilty. Probably that is why he always ended up in your room at nights."

"W-wha-"

"It was never you, it was his subconscious."

"I don't get it."

"It's time Jungkook.. I have an appointment with my dentist.", Dr.Lee showed a toothy grin before standing up, "I hope you have a great day."

_____________

Did Dr.Lee actually answered his questions? Then why was he still confused? 'Facebook status' Jungkook recollected Dr.Lee mentioning it. But why should Jungkook change it any way? Not like he had used the app in years. I mean, who even uses Facebook anymore? At least, not Jungkook.

"What did he say?"

"I wanna go to Tae's house. Where he used to live.", Jimin sighed, his left hand leaving the steering wheel to grab the other's shoulder, "Kook. You okay man?"

"Please take me there..", Jungkook removed his cellphone and opened App Store, Installing an app that he thought he'd never use again.

After the app was finally on his phone, he logged into his previous account. His fingers scrolling the screen down, as he liked a few posts of his old school friends, before going onto his own profile. He read his bio 4 times and then thought of changing it, until something clicked in. His birth date. It was visible on his profile.

Jungkook's heart sank.

_____________

There were three folders in Taehyung's room that Jungkook found useful. How did he even get to open the house? Jimin had a pair of spare keys.

As he opened the first folder, a bunch of roughly prepared drawings fell out. Taehyung was talented. Jungkook shook his mind and kept the folder aside.

The other one consisted of CD's. There were 5 CD's in all, with a note 'Jungkook' stuck over them.

______________

Did everything make sense now? Yes. After watching all the CD's. It definitely made sense.

The first one Jungkook started was a CCTV footage of School's parking lot. The other one also a CCTV footage, of his mansion. The third one was a CCTV footage of Jungkook's tuition class. The fourth one was of Jungkook's hospital room. And the last one, was a CCTV footage of the Entrance of the Hospital.

Taehyung did put all his efforts in keeping a watch on Jungkook. Maybe that is how he found out about the man from the parking lot.

While he was pushing the blame on someone else, he ended up helping Jungkook.

The other thing that left him stunned was the CCTV footage of the hospital. He too had nightmares. It was from the nights when Taehyung ended up breathless inside the hospital at odd hours. He would run here and there until he found Jungkook's room. Mino coming to kill Jungkook and Taehyung being there at the same time, was a huge coincidence.

Taehyung found out about it, and he stopped believing that Jungkook was real. Then why was Jungkook still not able to believe it?

Why did I have the nightmare? Why did I see myself there?

Jungkook opened the third folder with shaky hands, internally wishing that he'd find something more useful.

A painful cry escaped his lips as he stared at the picture's stuck on colourful pages inside the folder. Pictures of him in a hospital room. Pictures of only Taehyung that read 'Tae+kookie".

And a single picture of two little boys that read "Jongin+Tae Tae"

Jungkook knew, that it was more difficult than he had imagined. He wasn't yet ready to face the fact that he and Taehyung weren't connected. But how he wished they were. Maybe.. Just maybe.. If he would've woken up earlier, Taehyung would've been alive.
