CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO 💜

Note: This will be revised after completion!

After Minho's birthday, it took a week before I finally came back to the restaurant.

These past few days, I had been quite busy writing blogs and taking lots of photos in some known tourist spots around Seoul. It wasn't hard though; even if my schedule was packed with work these days as well as all sorts of extra activities. I still had time to relax at home and watch movies.

In fact, I hadn't realized how much I missed these moments when I could sit down and just watch the bustling Seoul streets. It has always been a fascination to me. Opening the door to the restaurant, I held my laptop close to me before choosing a table.

Giyeon noticed me quickly as he turned around after taking orders. He then approached me with a smile before asking for my order. This time, I tried a matcha latte before ordering some matcha mousse cake along with it.

He raised his eyebrow at this. "Not a latte? Frapuccino?"

"Trying out new things is always in my vocabulary," I commented before nodding, "So, yes. Matcha this time."

Giyeon gave me a warm smile before getting back to work. "Well then, I'll be back with your order shortly."

Considering that it was still quite early, I decided that it would be a great time to finish the blog I had written yesterday but hadn't finished. My hands reached into my pocket to retrieve my earphones and placed them in my ears. I let the music flow as I opened up the writing app and started revising.

A sudden chill in the restaurant made me stop typing on my laptop. Particles of snow had slid under the door that Giyeon mentioned. No sign of animals but the sheer wind blew it inside.

Different realms. I thought to myself. I already had a glimpse of the snowy plains that were behind that door but to see it again with my very eyes, sparked my interest. Knowing fully well that it would take Giyeon a while, I thought of taking just one peek.

Making sure that Giyeon hadn't returned yet, I approached the door slowly before hesitantly opening it. A blast of cold air surprised me but shockingly, all I see was a vast snowy plain with a snowman scattered as designs. Taking a step forward, I tried looking for any polar bear. But after I did, the door closed shut, locking me out and preventing me from going back to the restaurant.

I gasped before turning back around to try to open it but it wouldn't budge.

"Great," I mumbled to myself before rubbing my hands due to the coldness. "Good job, Dara. Now we're stuck."

But wait, maybe I didn't have to be trapped here for long? Maybe I could still escape by calling out Giyeon, who was probably waiting for me to return soon. With a plan in mind, I tried knocking on the door, hoping that he'd hear.

Unfortunately, after a few minutes, no one responded. Had it blocked the sounds? I tried knocking once again, this time much louder than before. Yet no avail. Sighing, I then tried walking. Surely it wouldn't be endless. The thought suddenly scared me. But what if it is?

My legs started trembling as I continued moving forward. The snow was falling faster now. There were only igloos and lights scattered around the realm. No polar bears. I'm guessing that my presence sort of surprised it or maybe it's hiding. I only shook the thought off. No, that's impossible. Polar bears are often aren't scared of humans.

Before I could even come up with something, I then noticed the snowflakes starting to vanish and the snow was lesser and was melting in the sun. The sight made me widen my eyes.

Another door. On a beach.

I immediately recognized whose realm this was.

Taking a deep breath, I tried calling out once again. No response. I'm not sure whether my courage left me or just disappeared altogether. I stepped closer to the door, holding my hand on the knob before pushing against the door. It didn't budge. I kept doing this until I finally got tired.

I huffed in exasperation, my hands tugging on my hair. Dang it, my curiosity got me in this mess, again. Exhausted, I put my back against the door and just sat. Hopefully, by chance, Giyeon would notice. Regrets suddenly flood my system.

Though, as I was about to think once more about the mistake I made, the door opened — making me fall back and lose my balance. Yohan widened his eyes as he saw me stand back up in embarrassment. Yohan didn't need to ask me since he already kind of knew what I did.

"You opened hyung's door, didn't you!" He pointed at me accusingly before making a 'tsk' sound as if scolding me. "He already warned you!"

"I'm sorry, the snow was piling and I got curious about the polar bear—"

"It's a polar bear! Why are you even hunting a polar bear in the first place? 너 미쳤어?" Yohan looked at me with crossed arms as I only smiled awkwardly. He then sighed.

He then proceeds to take his phone out. "I'll tell Giyeon hyung about it and you have to go back the same way you went."

I deadpanned. "But that's pure snow out there. I could just...you know, leave this place."

He gave me a look. "We're currently not in Seoul if you could tell. The restaurant is stationed in another place, remember? We have our turns."

I only looked back at the door and groaned. "Please at least tell me the door would be opened or else I'd suffer for how cold that place is."

"Giyeon hyung will open it," Yohan replied before trying to push me back. "Now go on, I have to tend to the customers. And next time, please don't be too curious. You just keep appearing out of nowhere and eventually gonna scare one of us again."

I eventually gave him an apologetic shrug before going back to the door. Though before walking towards back the snowy plains, I took my time to take in Yohan's realm. The calm waves of the sea gave me a bit of time to reflect.

As the minutes ticked by when I finally returned, the door finally opened revealing a shocked Giyeon who stared at me with wide eyes for a solid ten seconds. After which, he closed the door and walked towards the counter, a hand over his forehead.

"Giyeon," I called out to him softly, "I'm really—"

His hand dropped from his face to the counter. His eyes glazed over and he spoke softly. "...Sorry, I should've been paying more attention."

"Huh?" I tilted my head at him. "What do you mean?"

"I should've made sure that the door was fixed and I should've told you that the polar bear you're searching for wasn't in the plains."

"How'd you know I was..." I trailed off as I then waved my hands. "Nevermind. What did you mean it wasn't there?"

"The snowy plains are vast. You were lucky you got to Yohan's realm quickly."

"I was lost, actually."

"Still lucky," he answered before taking out some photos and showing it to me. "The polar bear in my realm was sleeping. It hides sometimes in snowy pits it creates."

Then a lightbulb lit up for me. "So that's why you planted igloos and snowman figures. It's a means of camouflage. To hide it."

He nods. "A polar bear sometimes wants to re-energize itself. Think of it as having an intuitive yet introverted personality. It enjoys its own peace."

I thought to myself before nodding. "Still, I'm sorry for prying."

He only smiled. "Just...don't be too curious about the realms. I can't help you if it stirs up something unexpected."
