A Surprising Stark Christmas

Not proofread lol, point out mistakes and I'll fix them.

A Marvel one shot about Peter spending Christmas with the Starks and the Avengers after Tony finds out Peter will be spending it alone.

Peter's POV

"...but it turns out she booked the deluxe suite by accident and it's like we're living like royals—Oh looks like the food is here, I gotta go man..."  Ned looks past the camera and then gives me a sheepish smile.
"Oh ok man, I'll talk to you later. Merry Christmas! And don't you dare build that LEGO set without me!" I respond with a half hearted grin, slightly disappointed he has to go. He'd been given a lego Star Wars set from his Grandmother as an early Christmas present and we always build the sets together when either of us get some.

"Alright. And let me know if you're going out as—" he looks past the camera and immediately winces—his Mum must be there. "—to the mall so I can face time... and help you pick out some... gifts. I'm still your G-I-T-C, even if I'm in Canada!" He corrects and 'discretely' mimes shooting a web. I face palm. Could he be any less discrete?!
"Of course! See you soon. Wish your parents Merry Christmas!"
He nods and waves bye before we hang up. Ned is up in Canada with his parents and grandmother for Christmas, they're visiting his aunt. He won't be back until the twenty eighth so we won't get to hang out around Christmas.

The sad thing is that MJ is working all week at the shop so she can't hang out with me either—every time I go talk to her in there her boss gets angry and thinks she's slacking off. And she's also spending Christmas with her family which I wouldn't want to intrude on. The icing on the cake is that Aunt May is picking up more shifts at the hospital and isn't home a whole lot. It's currently Christmas Eve and I'm 95% sure I'll be spending Christmas alone.

But it's not the worst thing in the world! At least that's what I'm telling myself. It could be way worse. I could be homeless. But I'm not. And besides I can just go out as Spider-man and patrol—keep people safe. I could even visit the children's hospital! Yeah. I suppose I'll do that.

It's currently 7 pm, I'm just hanging out in the apartment. I'd been speaking with Ned for like an hour, and I'd face timed MJ a while before then too. But now I'm bored. May won't be home until 9. Maybe I could make her a nice dinner? She's usually so tired. She might not even want to eat it. I'll do it anyway.

The fire alarm is blaring above my head as I beat at the flames, giving me a headache. Yes, I accidentally set the meat on fire.
"No no no no no!" I whine, finally patting out the flames with a towel. The charcoaled pork stares back at me, almost tauntingly. I put my hands over my head, the alarm still blaring, "what am I gonna do?!" The potatoes are still burning.

Suddenly a thump sounds outside the door, and if I listen carefully I hear what sounds like an engine. Oh great now the neighbours are here to laugh at me.

"Peter?" Wait, that's not mr Blackwell. That almost sounded like—

The fire on the potatoes flare up and I jump back with a yelp. Oh man. Oh man. Uhhh, what do I do?!

"Peter! May! I'm coming in, hang on!"

The door bursts open just as I pick up the tray of potatoes with the tea towel. I turn around, to see Mr Stark burst in repulsors at the ready. "Oh. Hey mr Stark..." I greet sheepishly over the alarm, a little out of breath from all the panicking.
"Pete?" He responds, lowering his arm and glancing around. Then he looks back at me and gestures to the tray. "Your potatoes are aflame." He notes.
"Huh? Oh yeah..." I look down at them, my mind blank. I snap back into sense and chuck them in the sink, which is full of water due to how I'd been washing up.

"Where's May?" He questions. "You good? Burnt?"

"I burnt my pork." I frown, kind of ignoring him. "And the potatoes."

Mr Stark wonders forward, his suit dissembling itself. He then walks around me to the oven and turns it off. "How did you manage to burn the meat?"

"I was making it for May," I tell him. I look up at the fire alarm, frustrated with its beeping. I leap up to the ceiling, and press random buttons on the fire alarm. Finally, it turns off and I drop down from the ceiling gratefully. I lay down on the floor and wait for the ringing to leave my ears, sighing.

"Where's May, kid?" Mr Stark asks, looming over me. I wave him off.
"At work."
"You're here alone?"
"Ya. How'd you get here, anyway?"
"I was passing through the neighbourhood when Friday alerted me to a fire in your building."
"Oh." He came to help? That's so nice.

"When's your aunt getting home?"
"Couple hours." My phone dings with a text. I check the notification and read through the text. "Scratch that. Tomorrow afternoon." Turns out she's covering another shift then she's going to a work party. She said she won't be back until tomorrow afternoon because she's gonna catch some sleep after the party at her colleagues place.
"Tomorrow afternoon?" Mr Stark repeats. I nod, finally standing up.
"At least she won't see the burnt meat." I shrug, scraping the food into the bin.

"So you'll be alone?"
"Yeah but it's really not a problem!"
"On Christmas?"
"I'm probably just gonna patrol for most of the day, hit up mr Delmas for his turkey sandwich..."
"With no one?"

"...and then I'll visit the children's hospital to cheer them up a little,"
"Kid."
"And then I'll go home and order some pizza."
"Kid, why don't you just come to the tower tonight and tomorrow?"
"Maybe they'll have some deals— what did you say sir?"
"I said," he puts on his sunglasses. "Just come to the tower tonight and tomorrow."
"R-really?" I ask, taken aback. Did he really just ask me that?

"Yeah, pep loves Christmas and most of the Avengers will be there. Which means there will be enough food to feed an army. So why not?"
THE Tony Stark is offering to spend Christmas with me?! Ned is going to freak out!
"I...I'd love to. If it's not a problem, otherwise I don't want to intrude." I hesitate. Is he just being polite?
"Nonsense," he waves me off, "we got loads of room."
"Oh. Okay. Thank you Mr Stark."
"Didn't I tell you to call me Tony?"
"Didn't I tell you I wasn't going to listen?" I quip back with a smirk.
My phone gives me another alert—it's eight o'clock. Which is when I was planning on going for a quick patrol.

"Right. Swing by the tower tonight, don't bother bringing anything we've got everything there you'll need." Mr Stark tells me, heading towards the door.
"Okay, thank you Mr Stark!"
"No, thank you!" He responds, his suit forming around him before he flies out of the open window above the stair way. I guess he came in that way.

A few minutes later, after I've cleaned up, I head to my room and slip into the Spidey suit. "Good evening Peter," Karen greets me warmly as I climb out my window.
"Hey Karen," I greet swinging off, "Call Ned!"
"Calling 'Guy in the chair'."
A few seconds later, Ned answers. "Hey Peter!"
"Hey Ned. You busy?" I ask him as I swing through the streets, on the look out for any action.
"Nope! Just got back from the pool. Want your guy in the chair?"
"I'll always want you, bro." I respond cheesily, doing a flip and landing on a billboard. I wave at a few people walking by.
"Bro." He murmurs, fake tears in his voice. Then his tone changes. "Alright, I'm connecting to your suit aaand...I'm into the police scanner."
"Awesome job," I praise, "anything out tonight?"

"Hmm..." sounds of typing. "Yep, reports of a house break in two minutes ago. Sending the co ordinates to Karen."
"Co-ordinates received, I've highlighted the fastest path." Karen chimes in calmly, so I take off and follow the yellow path in my vision.

***

"By the way, you're not gonna believe what happened!" I exclaim after I've delt with the house break in—some sketchy woman tormenting her ex, apparently. I'd webbed her to a sign post and called the police to let them know where she is, so it's all taken care of. Looks like someone will be sounding Christmas behind bars.
"What happened?!" Ned asks eagerly. I let out a small woop of joy as I swing from a high building towards the ground.

"MR STARK ASKED ME TO SPEND CHRISTMAS WITH HIM!" I shout over the wind, shooting a web at the last second and swinging off.
"WHAT?!" Ned screeches. "No! I'm ok. Sorry mum, I got excited... I'm watching a movie... yeah, I'll be quiet."
I stifle a laugh at this. "He came around to my apartment, Ned. I don't know what to do!" I whine. "Should I get him a present? What could I possibly get a billionaire?!"
"Who is gonna be there?!"
"He said the Avengers will be there!" I exclaim. "Should I buy them some presents—" Suddenly I hear a scream, and perk up. I swing down towards the noise.
I find a man cornering someone in an alleyway. "Give me your money, kid! And stop filming me!"
I swing into view and plop down silently behind the man. Neither of them have seen me.
"Oh my god guys, you're seeing it on live... I'm being mugged." The boy being mugged mumbles shakily.

"Peter, that's Flash!" Ned whispers and my eyes widen. "I'll activate your voice modifier just in case."

I reach forward and tap the man cornering Flash on the shoulder. He turns to face me and I swing my fist right into his face.
"Wow, mugging is low man!" I exclaim. "And on Christmas Eve? Pathetic!" He growls in response and lunges towards me, but I listen to my Spidey sense and duck. Then I dodge his second lunge and web his hands together. I string him up to the dumpster in the alleyway, upside down.
"You good kid?" I ask Flash, who hadn't really moved the whole time. He gives a slow, awed nod. "Good! Call the police and, uh, stay safe."

I shoot a web. "M—Merry Christmas!" He barely gets out. I salute him as I swing off.
"Holly crap that was Flash." I murmur.
"Don't worry, he doesn't know it's you." Ned assures me.
"We're never gonna hear the end of it though." I note. "What's the time?"

"Nine o' two pm." Karen answers automatically. I nod in acknowledgement.

"Police scanner is picking up on a fire a few blocks away from here, sending the location!" Ned perks up. I nod, and soon enough I'm swinging to the building.
"Smoke filter activated." Karen tells me as I make it to the building— a house.
There's two people outside. "Is anyone inside?" I ask them, my voice filter no longer activated.

"Yes, please help Spider-man! We're neighbours. They're a couple, a-and they have a daughter. Please help them." One of the people responds.
"Don't worry, everything will be ok!" I tell them, running into the house. I bust down the front door. It's all smoky.
"Activating night vision."
"Thermal scan, thermal scan, find them!" I urge frantically.
"Scanning." Karen notes. "Three figures found on the second floor, right door."

"It says the fire brigade are more than five minutes out, Peter, you have to take care of this." Ned warns me. "Be careful."
"Yeah, I've got this it's ok!" I soothe, quickly finding the stairs and making my way up. It looks like most of the fire is upstairs, which means I have to be really careful and fast.

"Which door was it?" I ask once I make it up. The smoke is heavy, but the filter is doing it's job.
"The door for your right," Ned responds, and I run to it. I try the nob but it doesn't budge—the door is locked. Probably jammed to.

"Hello?! Can anyone hear me?!" I shout loudly.
"We—we're in here! Please help us!" A voice, weak, calls back out.
"Help!" Another adds.
"Don't worry, stand away from the door!" I order, slapping them door, before I back away. I then run at the door and slam into it with as much force as I can. Thankfully, I'm able to knock it down within a few hits, and am able to run into the room— a nursery. There's a man, woman, and a kid.

"Spider-man!" The call in relief. I make my way over.
"Senses are telling me they are all in danger of smoke inhalation. In addition to this several cuts and burns have been detected." Karen informs me.
"Alright guys, I'm getting you out of here!" I tell them. The window in this room is way too dangerous to be an exit point—the flames are very high.
"Take our daughter first, please!" The adults beg. Obediently, I pick up the girl—perhaps five, and hold her close.
"Stay. Here. I will be right back!" I order, running out the door with the little girl. "It's ok, it's ok! You're with Spidey, I'm gonna get you and your parents out of here safe!" I tell the girl when I notice she's crying. She hugs me tight.

"Peter, the stairs are too dangerous as they are now swamped with flames. I advise you use the window in the opposite room." Karen informs me.
"She's right, the security camera is down there so it must be destroyed by the flames," Ned adds.

"Alrighty, our the window it is!" I note, opening the opposite door and running to the window. I yank it open with one arm and poke my head out. Yep, clear enough if I hurry up.
"Hold on tight!" I tell the girl, shooting a web on the windowsill and lowering us out the window. Slowly we fall to the ground and I'm able to sit her down on the ground. The neighbours run over.
"Take her out of here, I'm grabbing the parents!" I yell at them, pulling myself back up into the burning house.

"The progressive heat has damaged the smoke filter," Karen wants me, "this will have to be quick in order to minimise damage."
"Make a note for Mr Stark and I to take a look at that, Karen." I respond as I enter the house and run back into the room with the parents. When I get there they're supporting each other and coughing violently.

"Come on guys!" I tell them, taking one under each arm and moving us to the window. The floor creaks below us, indicating it's weakness. My Spidey sense blares and I barely have time to shoot a web grenade onto the floor to hold it together as I run us across and into the other room.

"Hurry Peter, the house is very weak." Ned warns me. I quickly pull the man over my shoulder and shoot a web to the woman's back. I carefully lower her out of the window and to the ground, before jumping out with the man.

I take them both away from the burning house and free the woman from the webs. The neighbours come over with the daughter. The fire engines are just now pulling onto the street, followed closely by an ambulance.

"Are you ok?" I ask the parents, coughing slightly from the smoke stuck in my throat.
"Y—Y—Yes." The woman responds, coughing. "Ju' bi...smoke." She coughs.
"The ambulance is here," I tell them, "you're all safe."
"Thank you so much," one of the neighbours exhales, "we were so worried."

"It's ok, what I'm here for." I wave them off. The ambulance and fireys pull over so I wait until the parents and kid are in safe hands before waving to the firefighters and swinging off.

"Good job Peter,"  Karen praises me. "I advise taking a break and having some water to prevent the smoke inhalation from worsening."
"She's right Pete, you better listen to her or I'll burn the LEGO." Ned teases me.
I gasp dramatically. "You wouldn't."
"We both know I'll do it!" Ned retorts, and I smile and shake my head, swinging up to a high bridge and sitting down. With no one around. I role my mask up to my nose and take a deep breath, appreciating the fresh air.

"So tell me, what's the food like?" I ask Ned. He immediately launches into a five minute rant about the crazy food that I'm happy to listen to as I catch my breath.

Once I have, I do one last swing through Queens before I say goodbye to Ned and return to my Apartment, where I pick up some presents I'd prepared for the Avengers. They're very hard to shop for but they have done a lot for this world and for me as I've gotten closer to them over time. Mr Stark was the hardest to shop for which is why I was doubting myself talking to Ned earlier.

Nonetheless, I grab the large bag of presents and swing to the tower. I make my way into the lobby at about ten o'clock, waving hi to the night receptionist and dropping off the small box of chocolates I'd decided to get her.

"Oh my god, you didn't have to do that Peter!" Kara exclaims—yes, she knows my identity. I smile at her under the mask.
"Yes I did, you're very nice and work very hard. Have a great Christmas!" I tell her, high giving her then heading to the private elevator.
"Hey Friday!" I greet as I walk in.
"Good evening, Peter. Where would you like to go?" She greets me back.
"To the Avengers common floor, Please!" I respond. And so the doors close and the elevator rises up.

Less than thirty seconds later I step out onto the floor and make my way down to the living room, which is where I lay the presents under the beautiful Christmas tree they have set up, which has a lot of presents under it.

"Hey Pete!" Mr Stark calls from the kitchen and so I walk into it, pulling my mask off.
"Hey, Mr Stark!" I smile calmly.
"Didn't burn anything else, did you?" He teases and I let out an offended gasp, holding a hand over my heart.
"How was I supposed to know the meat didn't require the highest setting?" I whine. "And no, I was helping out at a house fire."
"Well we know not to let you near the oven," Miss Potts exclaims as she walks in with a cup of tea. "But if it makes you feel any better, Tony isn't allowed either."

"Betrayed." Mr Stark mutters, taking a sip of coffee.
Miss Potts informs him and smiles at me, ruffling my hair. "Great to have you with us all for Christmas. The others are all in the training room if you're interested in joining them. Nat's running drills today, so be aware."
"Enough said, I'll leave them alone." I chuckle, raising my arms in surrender.

"Excellent, then you can help me in the lab and we can go over that smoke filter. I got a notification saying it was damaged."
"Stupid baby monitor protocol." I mutter. I would remove it again, but he gets angry at me and I don't like disappointing him. I shake my head and move on, "yeah the heat got to it or something."

"Ok, but I want you out by twelve!" Miss Potts warns us. "If you're not I'll have U spray fire deterrent over you and your work again."
"That took so many washes to get out of my hair." I frown, remembering last time.
"Right, c'mon Underoos," Mr Stark claps me on the shoulder and leads the way into the elevator.

***

After spending a couple hours in the lab, in which we diagnosed and improved the faults with the smoke filter, made more web fluid, gave DUM-E some oil, and repaired some faults with one of the early Marks just for the hell of it, we decide to head back up to the common floor.

"Young Peter!" I hear a cheer as soon as we step out, and I turn to see Thor waving at me from the kitchen, a plate of pop-tarts in hand. Ooh, he's staying for Christmas?! Awesome!
"Hey mr Thor! How are you?" I greet happily, walking up to him. He pulls me into a very tight hug which has me wheeze. Mr Stark walks past and makes himself a cup of coffee, completely ignoring my desperate plea for help.

"Excellent, Man of Spiders! My brother and I have indulged in many bottles of Asgardian beer and I have, once again, as you midgardians say, "kicked ass" at the game you call "twister,". Such a funny little game."

"Who knew some thousand year old dude could be so flexible." Me Rhodey scoffs.
Mr Sam groans from the kitchen. "And don't get me started on Natasha, I don't even know is she has bones."
"So who's going to be here?" I ask Sam eagerly as Rhodey walks off.
"Hmm...Bucky, Nat, her sister Yelena, me, Thor, Tony, Pepper, Rhodey, Bruce, Wanda and vision might pop in, the wizard too—"
"Doctor Strange is a sorcerer!" Bucky calls from somewhere,
"—yeah whatever, and I think Loki is coming too, Clint is bringing his family by tomorrow, also Steve is coming."

"Wait, Mr Steve? I thought he was dead?" I ask, confused. "Wasn't he, like, really old?"
"Ohh, that? Nah, he was pranking us. Bucky was right in saying he's an asshole,"
"Ohh, that's good I guess! Are you still the new Captain America?" I clarify.
"Yep, new and improved!"
"Awesome!" I note. "Wow, there's going to be a lot of us."

"Yep. It's going to be very hectic," Miss Potts notes as she wake suit of the living room. "Would you like me to show you to your room?"

"My room?" I ask.

"Yeah, where you're staying," Miss Potts nods. "It's all done up so you don't need anything, not even clothes."

"Ohh, sure, thank you Miss Potts!"

She smiles at me and leads the way to the elevator, "Friday, penthouse please." Penthouse? Maybe she's grabbing something.
"Certainly Boss lady."
"Tony and his nicknames." She shakes her head and sighs, but a small smile comes onto her face. I note this.
"Are you gonna get married?" I ask her curiously.
"I'm gonna propose in the new year," she whispers to me. "He's too scared to do it himself. He's been stressing over it for months and has believes I don't have a clue." She chuckles. I look at her, excitement shining over my face as the doors open at the penthouse.
"Wow. I'm so happy for you both!" I grin, she smiles softly at me. "Thanks Pete. C'mon," she leads me out and down the hall. She stops in front of the second door on the left—I've always known this, from the heap of times I've been on this floor (not something many teens can say) to be a spare sitting room.

She opens the door and my eyes widen. The whole room is decked out as a bedroom. There's a double bed, a dresser, a walk in closet, another walk in closet, a bedside table, drawers, a large window and one of those cool chairs with the wheels.
"Whoaaa!" I gasp, walking in, there are several Star Wars posters on the walls. "This is so cool!"
"This is your room for whenever you want to stay, Peter." Miss Potts smiles are me, "he was so excited to make this for you."
"I can't...this to so so nice! Thank you so much," I give her a hug.
"It's ok! I'll leave you to it, there's a fully equip bathroom through there," she points to one of the doors I tohight was a closet.
"Whoaaa," I walk over towards it and she laughs, leaving. I open the door to see a shower, bath, toilet, and several cupboards. The tiles are so shiny and fancy. Even the window is fancy. I take a selfie with the bathroom, and another with the bedroom, before sending them into my group chat I have with MJ and Ned. Despite the fact that it's now past midnight, they're both active because they too have bad sleep schedules.

After that, I get out of my Spidey suit and head to the wardrobe, thinking I should hang it up. To my surprise, there are so many clothes hanging up. T'shirts, hoodies, pants. And they're all my style, save for a few really nice suits! A little note hangs, saying "enjoy kiddo. -T.S." Which makes me smile. I know he put a lot of thought into this.

I get changed into some pyjama shots that have spider-man all over them—slightly embarrassing to know people like wearing images of me, but damn they're comfy. Then I plug my phone into an adapter sitting near an outlet and put it on charge, before turning the lights off and climbing into the really comfy bed and falling asleep quickly.

I really enjoyed writing this Tbh. I'll write a part two. Merry Christmas to everyone! It's Boxing Day for me and probably most other countries by now, but I hope everyone had a nice day regardless of whether you celebrate or not.
