Your Turn

The picture above is Ghana

Heavy, persistent rain fell from the sky, the rumbling sound of thunder pierced through the constant pitter patter of rain.

I was at the place that is supposed to be my 'home' but really, I didn't think it was good enough to even qualify as a house.

It was a wooden cabin in the middle of the forest, it would take an hour to get to the nearest gas station.

My parents were on a date night, so I was home alone, just me and my dog, Ghana.

My parents said that they should be home in the morning, but I highly doubt that, they get drunk a lot, and are irresponsible to leave a 10 year old in the middle of the forest alone, in a crumpled house.

Honestly, how do they even pay the bills?

I decided to get some rest, considering it was already pretty late into the night.

As soon as I was about to drift off to dream land, I heard water start to flow through the pipes. It was coming from the restroom next to my room.

I groaned and sat up, swinging my feet over the edge of the bed, getting up and walking on the creaky wooden floor to the restroom.

Ghana was on my heels.

The sink water was running, the handle labeled 'cold' was pulled up.

I sighed and turned it off, walking back to my wall.

As soon as I was about to rest my head on the pillow, the water turned on again.

This was an old place, so this technically wasn't out of the ordinary.

Me and my dog walked to the restroom again, this time the handle was labeled 'hot.'

I turned it off, going back into my room, laying back down on the mattress. I got comfortable, and so I did my dog, who lay by my feet.

Then the water turned on again, this time it was more powerful.

"The shower?" I groaned, I was to lazy to get out of bed again, so I pulled the covers over my head, hoping the noise would go away.

Ghana pawed at my feet, whining at me to get out of bed and then off the shower.

"If you want the noise to stop, then you go turn it off." I complained, already leaving my room, this time the dog stayed laying on my bed.

"Oh that's right, you can't because your a dog."

I turned off the shower water, right as I was at the door frame the water turned on again.

Now I was fairly panicked.

I quickly turned it off again backing out of the room slowly.

The water didn't turn on again as I climbed onto my bed, Ghana wasn't on the bed anymore, she probably had to go outside.

Suddenly, the tap water from the sink in the kitchen started running.

"Oh my god, seriously!" I yelled in frustration, stomping to the kitchen to turn off the sink.

The unsteady floor boards creaked under the pressure of my fair weight as I turned to walk back to my room.

But then, an inhuman cry sounded, effectively scaring the ever living crap out of me.

Another whimper came from the cabinets below the sink. I got to my knees and slowly opened the poorly painted doors.

Blood.

Blood was all I saw.

It smeared across the insides.

Soaked the floor.

Spilled out to my knees.

And hanging from the pipe, was my dog, Ghana.

Then, another strange sound was emitted, it took me a second for me to figure out that the strangled sounds were coming from my dead dog.

Then, her head snapped at an impossible, bone chilling angle. She looked me right in the eyes.

Her once alive eyes were now pail and lifeless, then her mouth twisted into a sinister grin. Blood was plastered all over her teeth.

"Hell dog" she spoke, over and over again, each time more frightening and delusional then the last.

Then she whispered "your turn"
