Im At Your Door
Ring
My phone woke me up, with a jolt of surprise, I rolled over and crashed to the floor. I groaned and removed the covers from on top of me, pulling myself up from the carpet.
I looked to my alarm clock it read 3:00 AM in bold green letters. Who the heck would be calling during this hour of the night? I thought, almost angrly.
I picked up my iPhone and pulled it close to my ear "hello?" I greeted, wanting to know who was on the other end of the line. It said unknown caller, so I wasn't sure who it was.
"I'm At Your front yard" the person in the other end spoke. The person's voice sounded like a male, but his voice was taunting, like the Jokers voice on Batman.
'he's just one of my sons friends trying to pull a prank on me' I thought, hanging up the phone.
Despite that, I still looked out my window that faced the front lawn.
No one was there.
I pulled the covers back in my bed, not having to worry about being loud because my two kids were at their Mom's house, so I was home alone.
The phone rang again.
I answered it.
"I know your just a kid trying to pull a prank on me-" i started, but was cut off by the boy on the other end.
"I'm at your doorstep."
He hung up.
I sighed, pulling the covers back over myself, my head hit the pillow again, and the phone rang.
I answered it again.
"You better beat it Or I'm giving your number to the police" I threatened. Now I was fuming, it was 3 o'clock. It wasn't natural!
"I'm in your kitchen."
He hung up.
I went to the person's number, but it wouldn't let me click it to call back Or block him.
Dang unknown number.
I typed in 9-1-1 in my phone, but before I could press call, the unknown number called me for a fourth time.
I answered and said: "Stop calling, if you stop now I won't call the police. But I don't need their help to take your sorry butt down to prison. I will find you."
The man giggled insanely and replied "I'm at the first step... One... Two... Three-"
I hung up for the third time.
By now I was on my feet pacing the room.
He called again, but this time I let it ring.
After his failed attempt to call me back, my phone and the bedside lamp, the only lights in my room, all went black.
Then my very old house phone with the cord and everything rang. It was placed on the wall by the door so I stomped over to it and put it up to my ear.
"I'm in your hallway."
His voice sounded like he was a mental patient.
I hung up, walking over to my closet, grabbing a hunters knife.
Sure, it was probably a bunch of high school kids playing pranks on me, but what if it wasn't....
I poked my head through my now open door, looking down the dark hallway that cast long shadows, it looked like all of the power was out besides the old phone.
Weird.
No one was down the hall way.
The house phone rang again and I proceeded to shut my door and answer it.
"I'm outside your door, come and answer it for me."
"No chance in-"
"Are you scared?"
"You know what?! I'm done with your games!"
I put my knife up to the phones cord, and sliced through it.
Now all of the working devises were dead in the house.
I threw the phone to the floor and kicked it to the wall, and after took deep breaths and counted to ten.
I thought my anger issues were gone, oh well, might as well be angry if a psychopath keeps calling you. I thought.
Just then, there was three very slow, but very hard knocks to my bedroom door.
I was now terrified, I scrambled for my knife that I dropped when slicing the phone. I picked it up and cautiously approached the door.
I clutched the hunting knife in my hand as I grabbed the hard, cold door knob, and pulled the door open so hard that it almost flew off its hinges.
No one was there.
Maybe I was hearing things.
Then, someone breathed down my neck, making me break into a cold sweat.
"Thanks for letting me in."
