The Annabelle Doll

You may know Annabelle from the movie The Conjuring, Annabelle Comes Home, and other horror movies. This is the true story of the cursed doll. And it goes like this:

In 1970, a nurse named Donna was celebrating her 28th birthday with her roommate, Angie (also a nurse). As a present, Donna's mother sent her a Raggedy Ann doll that she purchased from a small shop.

Since Donna and Angie were both nurses, they were out of the apartment a lot, leaving the doll in Donna's bed. One day, when the girls came home from a long shift, they noticed that the doll's position changed. Hands and legs would be crossed. As days go by, they would find the doll in different places in their apartment, from bedrooms to the kitchen.

Donna also noticed some pieces of parchment papers on the floor, which was strange because she and Angie did not own parchment paper. When Donna picked up one of the pieces, she saw a hand writing that belonged to a child and it read "Help us".

Lou, Donna's fiancé, had a bad feeling about the doll. He suggested to Donna that they should get rid of it or call a psychic medium to find out what they're dealing with. But she refused and she and Angie continued with their stuff.

The next day, Donna found the doll on her bed and noticed some blood on it. When she picked it up, she was shocked when she realized that the blood was coming from the doll. From that point, Donna and Angie finally agreed to call a medium to se what was going on.

That night, a seance was held in the apartment. The medium explained to the girls that before the apartment was built, a seven- year old girl named Annabelle Higgins was killed in the fields and her spirit was inside the doll and just wanted company. Since then, the girls started to treat Annabelle, the doll, as a human.

However, Lou was still not convinced to have the doll around as he still feared of what the doll was capable of. One morning, Lou and Angie were planning a road trip when Lou heard strange noises coming from Donna's room. Donna wasn't home, so what were those sounds about? When Lou went to investigate the room, he only found Annabelle sitting in a chair in the corner of the room. He suddenly felt a presence behind him. But when he turned around, nobody was there.

Later in the afternoon, Lou was taking a nap in the living room, with the doll across from him.
He had a nightmare of Annabelle crawling up to him and strangling him to death. When he woke up from the dream, he glared at Annabelle for a long moment. He then grabbed the doll and threw it across the room. He yelled that it was just a stupid doll and it couldn't do any harm. As Lou said that, he felt a painful scratch on his chest. He unbuttoned his shirt and found seven scratch marks on his chest. There were bits of blood coming out of it.

Donna, Angie and Lou realized that the spirit in the doll started to have aggressive behaviors. The next morning, they contacted Ed and Lorraine Warren, the paranormal experts. The Warrens revealed that the spirit that was lurking within the doll wasn't a dead girl, but a demon. They explained that demons only possess people, not things. The evil spirit was moving the doll around to make the three believe that there was something going on and tricking the medium to tell them that it was a spirit of a harmless young girl. The entity was trying to get inside Donna.

The Warrens called a priest to perform an exorcism in the apartment, while they confiscated the doll and drove back home. Knowing what the evil entity was capable of, Ed avoided the highways. He was right. During the drive, the car's engine would frequently cut in the middle of the road and the wheels would go out of control. Ed safely stopped the car, went to the back seat where the doll was, and sprayed holy water on the doll, making a cross sign. Thankfully, the Warrens were able to get home safely.

Annabelle is kept inside the Warren's Occult Museum in a special case with a cross on each side, a card of the devil, and a sign that said "Warning! Positively do not open."

One visitor made a huge mistake of challenging the doll. A young man came to the museum once in his motorcycle. He ran up to the doll and started to tap on the glass while laughing. "This is a bunch of baloney" he said, "If this can put slashes on somebody, do something to me right now!" Fed up with the young man mocking the doll, Ed asked the young man to leave. Three hours later, the young man was dead. It was reported that he was killed in a motorcycle accident. It is also believed that Annabelle placed a curse on the man and caused his death.

Weather or not the Warrens made this tale up as a precaution advice when visiting Annabelle, would you dare to challenge it?
