Chapter 4: Death's Consequences

Sorry it took SOOOO long for me to update this book! It's SUUUPER old and I KIIIIIINDA forgot all about it!! If you still want to read this amazing (correction; terrible) story, then vote and comment!

Blood. Blood everywhere. People were screaming, the bloodied corpse of the child I once knew as Damien soon perished. The boy's body was in the most horrific of situations, the upper half of his body torn clean off, guts splattered onto the sidewalk. Sara watched in horror, but a somewhat sadistic smile was plastered across her porcelain skin. She felt a strange pull from inside her, her eyes beginning to dim, no longer a pale blue, but more so a darker version of the shade. Her eyesight dimmed along with her eye's discoloration. Frank stood tall, his body now completely normal, which contradicted the form he was just taking an accustom to. He had blood dripping -no, gushing- from his mouth, but the upper half of Damien's body was nowhere to be found. Droplets of the metallic red liquid stained the ends Sara's pretty yellow dress in a most unlikeable fashion. "Why... Did you do that?" The young girl croaked after some time, sirens blaring as background noise. Frank didn't respond, simply walking up to her and ushering for her to leave. He knew school would be cancelled early due to this tragedy, but he really only cared to get her away from the crime scene.

Once Sara arrived at home safely, she noticed her parents having an argument in the kitchen, which she knew wasn't going to involve her. She put her backpack away, took off her shoes, and headed upstairs to change clothes. As Sara stepped into her room, she noticed Frank close behind her. "Hey! You can't come in here while I'm changing!" She scolded this thing that seemed to follow her wherever she went. Frank's eyes widened in surprise, having never heard this tone from the frail child before. Even so, he complied and awaited for her to come out outside of her room. Loud footsteps blared one by one, slowly getting louder until Sara's father appeared around the corner from the stairs. Frank stood right in front of the man, glaring intensely at him as if he were the cause of killing millions, but of course he wasn't. Her father, Jonathan, stood still, as if every muscle in his body had tensed. "Honey, you forgot to grab your purse!" He called down to her, stepping right through Frank, grabbing his wife's belongings, and tumbling back down the steps he had appeared from. Sara was peeking through the door at that moment, fully dressed in a sweater and shorts.

So, father can't see Frank either?

This notion confused her to no end. So was she the only one to be able to see her newfound companion? How strange. Sara decided to head downstairs to make herself a simple meal; microwaveable mac and cheese. She skidded down the steps in a swift motion, Frank close behind her. Sara walked past her parents, who were just leaving to go on a date.

How typical. They didn't even say goodbye.

Her expression soured, though her focus quickly shifted to making herself some food. As she just set the timer on the microwave, she heard the door open again. Her parents came back inside just as soon as they'd left, a police officer in tow. Sara's dimmed eyes widened with surprise, turning to see her own emotions reflecting onto Frank's own features. The officer slowly approached Sara, causing her to fall back. "Hey there. I need to ask you a few questions. Sadly, one of your classmates aren't around anymore, and you were there when he... Left" the female officer began, trying to use the softest tone she could manage, "I want to know exactly what happened." Sara couldn't believe her eyes.

Why is she talking to me?

Her parents stared at her in surprise. They looked as if she were the only thing that mattered for once.

Why are they paying attention to me?

Frank, of all of them, looked outraged. Sara could tell this wasn't a good situation just by examining her dear friend's expression. "I... I don't know" she mumbled, her voice too quiet for anyone to hear. "Eh.. What was that?" The officer inquired, "please speak up." Sara backed away and hid behind Frank, but even behind him she could feel their gaze boring through him and straight onto her. "Is something wrong? Would you like to come to the station to talk?" The cop asked, finally, now intrigued by the young girl's actions. Suddenly, she gave a slow nod, earning a disapproving glare from Frank. Sara felt bad, but there was nothing she could do. She slowly left Frank's side and followed the officer out of the house, her parents staying behind.

Am I really going to jail? But I didn't do it! And he deserved it, too!

The interrogation didn't go as planned. She was though of as a psychopath, and sent to a soft core insane asylum. Really, it was just a mansion for children who are put of touch with reality. Sara was sent by her parent's request. This finally broke her.

Why would they do this?

She didn't have Frank, either. He disappeared from her life for several months. All she could think of now was ending her own suffering. Ending herself. "This is the end of sanity" Sara mumbled, sitting atop her squeaky mattress as she stared out into the open world. This would be the last thing she said in a very long time.

Okay so I literally couldn't come up with anything better than that! Its not over yet, as much as it may seem! Thanks for reading this shit story!
